Li Beijue’s temple throbbed twice.
His lips still brushed against her palm. That frustrating feeling—wanting to beat her up out of sheer anger, yet being unable to act on it because of her soft defiance—rushed back again. His falcon-like eyes were still burning with rage, but they also carried a trace of compromise. Pulling her hand down, he spoke with a rigid expression, "Don’t bother. Soone will co soon."
The old man would summon a doctor.
Chi Enen hadn’t seen him instruct anyone to help treat his wound. She was just starting to wonder when a knock sounded at the door: "Knock, knock."
Li Beijue’s back was already spasming painfully; he had simply been forcing himself to endure it earlier. Beads of sweat ford on his forehead as he said to Chi Enen, "Chi Enen, open the door."
"Alright."
Chi Enen didn’t delay and went to open the door.
Outside the door stood a man in a white lab coat, holding a dical kit. She was montarily surprised.
Was he really a doctor?
When had he called for a doctor?
"Is Master Jue inside?"
She snapped out of her daze and stepped aside, "He’s inside."
The doctor nodded at her and walked in with his equipnt. When he saw Li Beijue, his deanor instantly beca respectful. "Master Jue, the butler asked to co and treat your wound."
"Hm." Li Beijue sat on the sofa, suppressing wave after wave of tearing pain from his back, and said, "Handle the wound on her arm first."
The doctor glanced at his expression and could imdiately tell who was more severely injured and who needed urgent care.
But in the old mansion, obeying orders is the guiding principle. There’s no room for questions.
Without hesitation, he set down his equipnt and addressed Chi Enen, "Miss Chi, let treat your wound first. Please take a seat."
Chi Enen was about to say sothing.
Li Beijue cut her off instantly, "Chi Enen, shut up."
Then he instructed the doctor, "Take care of her first!"
Chi Enen wasn’t eting him for the first ti. She knew that arguing right now would only waste more ti. Without fuss, she sat down on the sofa and willingly extended her arm, "My arm injury isn’t serious. Just disinfect it; that’s enough."
"Alright." The doctor could see that she wasn’t downplaying the injury out of stubbornness. It truly wasn’t very serious.
It was nowhere near one-tenth as severe as Master Jue’s back.
Skilled and swift, the doctor disinfected Chi Enen’s wound, then took out a tube of anti-inflammatory dication and handed it to her. "Miss Chi, you just need to apply this yourself."
Chi Enen took it.
The doctor imdiately turned to Li Beijue and said, "Master Jue, let treat your wound now. Please lie down on the sofa."
Li Beijue only lay down after confirming Chi Enen’s injury had been tended to.
The doctor’s face turned serious as he walked over with iodine and other supplies, bending down to start treating his wound.
His injuries were far more severe than Chi Enen’s. Last ti, after receiving three lashes, he only managed to endure with military-grade Flin painkillers. Although the first whip this ti wasn’t as forceful, the subsequent two struck his back solidly. His back was whipped so badly that his clothes were shredded and stuck to the coagulated blood. To treat his wound, the doctor had no choice but to first remove the stuck clothing.
This process was no less painful than pouring alcohol directly onto the wound. Li Beijue didn’t utter a single sound, letting the doctor clean the injury, but the taut muscles on his back betrayed how much pain he was enduring!
Just cutting away the clothing took the doctor nearly thirty minutes. Covered in sweat, he said to Li Beijue, "Master Jue, I’m about to disinfect your wound now. Please bear with it."
