His gaze turned slightly cold, and his tone became impolite. “This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Her Majesty the Empress. I’m not from the reclusive families, so I don’t need to explain myself to you!”
Nie Qingru’s eyes darkened and she did not say anything. After a few seconds, she slowly asked, “You don’t know who I am?”
Ji Lin raised his eyebrows as if asking what she meant.
Nie Qingru lowered her head, adjusted her sapphire-blue velvet gloves, then raised her graceful and noble face and expressionlessly said, “I’m her biological grandmother. She didn’t tell you?”
A trace of hatred flashed across her eyes as she spoke. It was like she was not talking about Qiao Nian, but dirt.
Ji Lin was stunned for a moment before quickly returning to normal.

Looking at Nie Qingru’s face and then at her slightly raised chin, he could not help but ask curiously, “You don’t like Miss Qiao, right?”
Nie Qingru did not answer.
No immediate answer was the answer.
Ji Lin immediately understood and asked in confusion, “Since you’ve repeatedly shown your disgust towards Miss Qiao, even hate, why are you telling me this? You’re Miss Qiao’s grandmother, so what? Are you using this identity to get in through the back door?”
Nie Qingru’s expression suddenly darkened. Ji Lin’s question had undoubtedly hurt her reputation and disturbed her calm.
Her tone instantly turned cold. “No doubt you’re one of her people. You’re as uncultured as her! Someone who doesn’t even recognize family!”
At her undisguised malice, Ji Lin stopped laughing and retorted expressionlessly, “The Empress and the reclusive families are high up in the air, so don’t use blood relations to intercede. Otherwise, it will seem like… intimate blood relationship is just a bargaining chip you put on the table. Other than using it for personal benefits, it’s usually useless.”
Nie Tao looked at their back and forth. He didn’t understand where Ji Lin came from. How dare he talk to his high and mighty sister like this?
Before he could figure it out, he heard Nie Qingru’s cold voice. “Do you think I can’t resolve this matter without seeing the Jin family?”
Ji Lin did not argue with her. He made a “please” gesture as if he was sending her off.
The air seemed to freeze.
In the next second, Nie Qingru looked at Ji Lin deeply before turning around and saying to Nie Tao, “Let’s go!”
“I won’t see you off, Your Majesty,” Ji Lin said politely.
Nie Qingru walked away without looking back. It was as if she did not hear his voice. However, one could hear her agitated breathing as she quickened her pace.
Nie Tao chased after her to the elevator. After pressing the button, he helplessly asked, “What about the plan if we leave just like that?”
According to Nie Qingru’s plan, the victim’s parents must stand up and express their forgiveness to the public. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to get past public opinion.
Now, they did not even see them. The trip had been a waste. This was not part of the plan.

The elevator doors opened.
Nie Qingru stepped inside, and Nie Tao hurriedly followed. He watched as the elevator doors closed again. There were several times when he wanted to say something but hesitated.
However, he did not dare to say anything after seeing Nie Qingru’s expression.
Fortunately, as they waited for the car to arrive, the silent Nie Qingru finally spoke.
