Now reading: Chapter 1258 - 917: Temptress vs. Sword Maiden from Mage Manual, a Fantasy novel by Listening Day.

Just as Filly said, there are many ways to recognize each other, there’s no need to write words. Ash just needs to show a Heart Sword without harming the Sword Maiden, and she will imdiately realize who the Starlight Body before her is.

Although this would break the Void Wings, due to the effects of Hell’s Poison, the Void Wings have beco a renewable resource for Ash. Breaking a Void Wing in exchange for the Sword Maiden joining the team is the most worthwhile sacrifice.

But will the Sword Maiden’s joining be truly useful?

Ash glanced just now, gathered at this scene around him were more than a thousand people. It turns out that mages in the world cannot be underestimated. Many mages realized that since a first Holy Grail site would appear, then a second would definitely as well. Although entering early allows earlier competition, going in late might allow one to pick up what others dropped. Thus, many mages remained inactive, waiting for the second Red Gate to appear. They realized that at the second Holy Grail site, there would be fewer mages, thus less intense competition, so they all entered.

Facing thousands of enemies and having to protect Filly, direct combat is obviously the last resort; escape is the right answer. Since the battle phase must be minimized, the role of the Sword Maiden is greatly reduced.

But having one more teammate is one more layer of protection, so not recognizing the Sword Maiden is obviously unreasonable from this perspective.

The more important reason is that Ash is afraid of failure.

There are too many factors for failure. Being surrounded and hunted by a thousand mages, Ash and Filly having no burial ground is all too reasonable. More importantly, what if a demon gets in?

As long as the Holy Grail hasn’t ford and as long as there are mage followers, demons are invincible in this Angel Hunt.

Ash isn’t afraid of the Sword Maiden dying to protect him; he’s afraid that she can’t protect him.

If the Sword Maiden dies, she would rely suffer a soul loss, but if he dies, it might be a true death. If they haven’t recognized each other and he dies, the Sword Maiden might just think he was unfortunate and brought it upon himself. But if they recognize each other and she tries her best to protect him and yet he still dies in front of her, what would she think?

When Weiser turned into a Silver Lamp before his eyes, Ash knew what that felt like.

So when Vishi began to fight alongside him, perhaps even becoming a true companion, Ash felt both happy and in pain.

Even when he reviewed after the fact, realizing that Vishi in the Senluo Apocalypse was actually just an instigator, that with or without her, Weiser would be forced into the sa outco by the Three Gods, and even that Ash’s suggestion to use the Sky Gate to transport the forest populace was the direct cause of the Three Gods appearing, he still couldn’t forgive Vishi, nor could he forgive himself for entertaining the idea of accepting Vishi.

Thus, when Ash realized Sonia couldn’t recognize him, he felt surprisingly relieved. Even though Sonia is his most trusted comrade and dearest lover, she is also the treasure Ash most wishes to protect.

After all, if they are constantly fleeing and the Sword Maiden can’t help, it’s better not to recognize each other. This way, it would be easier for them to escape. While convincing himself, Ash, with Filly in his arms, ran wildly.

The sound of Sword Qi filled the air behind as Ash turned to look, discovering that the red-haired Sword Maiden was actually catching up. Other mages seed to want to seize the Sword Maiden’s nearly half of the Holy Grail Fragnts, but all were dealt with by her easily, leaving a trail of corpses.

She has beco stronger... Even though she can’t enter the Void Realm, her swordsmanship is still advancing, improving much more than mine. But given my lackadaisical approach, it’s natural that I can’t keep up with her... She surely is diligent, but with both cultivating and managing the Four Pillars God Sect, isn’t it too exhausting? Does she usually relax properly?

And the witch too, leaving an entire nation behind to co to the Dazzling Star, I really have troubled them too much...

"Sorry, Filly." Ash suddenly blinked, "I’ve dragged you into this hunted state. You didn’t have to take such a risk."

"You don’t need to apologize. Actually, I’m very happy." Filly blinked, "Even though I can’t spare a hand to help, now I’m fighting side by side with you, Ash, right? Just like the Sword Maiden."

"Ash, you’re so good with n, but beco silly with won. When you consoled Señor Igula before, you knew Igula’s envisioned ’better path’ was never an option for Mr. Harvey. But with , why do you think I have a choice that doesn’t involve risk? I am the woman who’s going to save the world with you!"

"There’s never a better choice; you are Fate’s best choice. That’s what I think, and so does Nia, and maybe not Vishi." Filly suddenly broke free from his arms and ran alongside him, "But I’m sure the Sword Witch must be too."

Ash was taken aback; by this ti, they were about to flee the alley, but several mages blocked the entrance. He quickened his pace, his dual swords swirling like spirals, cutting through the alley and escaping with Filly, sprinting down the street.

A group of mages suddenly appeared ahead. Before Ash could prepare for confrontation, he noticed the mages were actually chasing two female mages at the front.

The reason was simple — the Holy Grail Fragnt in the female mages’ arms had already mostly condensed. If they could seize it, they might even complete the Fragnt! But their escape direction happened to be opposite, which is why they nearly collided by coincidence.

Instinctively, Ash wanted to turn and redirect the trouble, letting the female mages draw away most of the pursuers. Compared to Filly’s fully completed Holy Grail as a super conspicuous beacon, the female mages’ nearly complete Holy Grail Fragnt was more attractive to other mages. Even if it’s taken, it wouldn’t beco a target of many.

However, when Ash clearly saw the appearances of the two female mages opposite him, his pupils constricted instantly, almost unable to believe his eyes.

He signaled Filly to follow, fiercely brandishing his sword to charge towards the other side!

The two female mages saw the Starlight Body charging at them and instinctively prepared to counterattack. However, the Starlight Body completely ignored them, charging directly at their pursuers!

The two female mages exchanged glances, then looked at the other Starlight Body holding the Rainbow Holy Grail, surprisingly making no move against them and instead turning to charge through the pursuers alongside them!

Ash didn’t dare to linger; after helping them break through, he imdiately pulled Filly to escape. Filly blinked, "Why did you help them? That was dangerous, I thought they might attack ."

"They won’t attack you; they’re good people."

"You know them?"

"Yeah."

Ash’s eyes showed a hint of a smile, "They’re old friends I haven’t seen in a long ti."

Watching the Starlight Body’s silhouette ahead, Freyja asked while running, "Did they help us on purpose just now?"

"Seems like it." Tamasi tilted her head, uncertainly saying, "He charged straight between us, as if convinced we wouldn’t attack them..."

"Then why didn’t you act? The Holy Grail was right there."

"They didn’t attack , so how could I attack them?" Tamasi said seriously, "I would never murder soone for treasure."

Freyja wasn’t surprised at Tamasi’s moral code. She thought for a mont, "I feel like I know them for so reason..."

Tamasi speculated, "Could it be Purple Moth and Blood Shadow?"

"Do Hanna and Siflin practice swordsmanship?"

"Do they not?"

"Never mind, they helped us, so they must be good people. Even if they’re not Siflin and Hanna, we should help them!" Freyja decisively stated.

Tamasi had no objections. Curiously, although Tamasi had the most mystical experiences and endured the most hardships among them, while Freyja was protected like a rose in a greenhouse, when there were disputes within the team, it was often Freyja who made the decisions. Not just because iwa wielded Ash’s gifts, but also due to iwa’s peculiar charm.

"So what should we do?"

Freyja suddenly stopped, turning to look at the red-haired Sword Maiden chasing them from behind. She inexplicably felt a surge of heat throughout her body, as if facing a nesis — never before had iwa felt such battle intent as now!

"Of course, we intercept their pursuers!" Freyja exclaid excitedly, "Starting with that red-haired female Sword Master!"
