Chapter 1265: Chapter 920: Fading Colors

In Ash’s soul, the Substitute Technique Spirit hurriedly dragged the other Technique Spirits to a safe place, preventing them from touching the fading area.

For Technique Spirits, soul fading is akin to the end of the world; it’s probably better if Ash just died. To them, Mages are like companies — when the company goes under, everyone at most becos unemployed, lying back at ho or seeking new employnt at the Void Realm’s biological talent market.

As for emotions, the love a Mage has for their Technique Spirit is reciprocated. But in the eyes of the Technique Spirits, all Mages are oppressive slave owners, and a Mage’s affection is purely due to the functionality of the Technique Spirits. Who would be moved to tears for being exceptional beasts of burden?

They wouldn’t hang you on a streetlamp solely because the Technique Spirits are too naive and ignorant to take revenge. Once they grow and beco Divine Beings, they won’t be so forgiving.

If Ash were hacked to death, the Technique Spirits would not intervene. But now that Ash’s soul is fading, it’s not rely a company shutting its doors; it’s like the company building collapsing in an earthquake!

Yet, the Technique Spirits don’t understand how to avoid danger. In their naive spirituality, they might even actively crash into the fade zone. Only the four-colored, polluted Substitute Technique Spirit knew how to seek fortune and avoid disaster, usually domineering but now responsible. If it hadn’t promptly moved all the Technique Spirits to the other side, at least half of them would have faded and perished by now.

Even so, the fading pollution quickly claid most of the soul, with the safe zone shrinking rapidly. The Substitute Technique Spirit stood at the forefront, shivering to shield the other Spirits, seemingly destined to be the first to accompany Ash in death.

At that mont, the fading pollution halted. As the Dull Jade Liquid flowed in, the damaged soul rapidly reconstructed, and new soul areas shimred with dazzling hues. The Substitute Technique Spirit tentatively stepped in and was instantly enlivened, absorbing the stray divine colors from the new soul.

It blinked, realizing that its mind was becoming clearer, and quickly understood the value of this, beckoning the other Spirits to follow.

However, it discovered these divine colors were limited, so it favorably allowed familiar Spirits like the Heart Sword and Emotion Sword to absorb first. After many days of contact, Spirits like the Heart Sword already vaguely understood its instructions and obediently absorbed the divine colors left by the Dull Jade Liquid.

Simultaneously, Ash clearly sensed the dramatic changes in his body. As he absorbed the Dull Jade Liquid, his Golden Illusion Wings, Rainbow Illusion Wings, and Sword-colored Illusion Wings (the Silver Illusion Wing had already broken) rapidly lost their colors, turning into transparent yet rainbow-refracting Dull Illusion Wings.

This is the effect of the Dull Jade Liquid!

Beyond enhancing his Seventh Void Wing, its primary effect was transforming the first four illusion wings, turning Silver, Gold, Rainbow, and Exotic Illusion Wings all into Dull Illusion Wings!

And Ash could feel that, if he wished, he could transform the colors of the first four illusion wings at any ti, for instance, turning them all into Sword-colored Illusion Wings!

Even though the quality of Magic Power within the Illusion Wings remained unchanged, altering their colors ant his wings could permanently enhance the Spirits. According to Vishi, possessing each feather of the Sword-colored Wings could improve the effectiveness of swordsmanship Spirits, reduce their consumption, bolster resistance against them, and make it easier to create swordsmanship miracles.

Changing the color of Illusion Wings is sothing only Legendary Mages could accomplish and only then for the fourth wing. Even entering the Divine Domain doesn’t make it easy to condense wing colors; the fifth wing demands plundering Void Realm resources, while the sixth wing requires seizing a World Secret Domain, demonstrating the difficulty of adding color.

Now, Ash could freely modify the colors of the first four wings, aning no other Legendary Mage could surpass Ash in vibrancy, no matter their efforts. Their Silver, Gold, or Rainbow Wings compared to blank slates, but Ash’s three Illusion Wings could be imbued with color for the Spirits!

The sa miracle perford by Ash could yield results differing by a factor of eight compared to other Legendary Mages!

However, Ash did not alter the color of his Illusion Wings, choosing instead to let them remain in their faded state.

Because that is the significant difference between the Dull Holy Grail and the Rainbow Holy Grail.

The Rainbow Holy Grail generally allows Mages to modify the colors of the first four illusion wings at will. In contrast, the Dull Holy Grail offers a new color option — dullness.

Dull feathers may offer weaker enhancents compared to colorful ones, but they possess irreplaceable advantages: they apply to All Magic Factions, bolstering the overall magic effect and providing resistance against them!

Ash, focusing on swordsmanship, also utilizes other faction Spirits, handling roles in output, support, defense, healing, and mobility across tactical positions. Dull feathers allow him to adapt to any situation, and when exercising Composite Miracles, the benefits of the dull feathers arguably match those of colorful ones!

Importantly, dull feathers are the hidden reward of the Dull Holy Grail, and not using them seems a waste… In gas, he tends to flaunt newly unlocked equipnt.

He imrsed himself in the trendous transformation of his Soul Illusion Wings, eagerly absorbing the Jade Liquid. When the Jade Liquid’s flow ceased, he instinctively licked, then realized and opened his eyes, eting the gaze of the blonde girl before him.

The Starlight Body unknowingly dissipated since they had already condensed the Holy Grail, and the Dazzling Star Magic Master wouldn’t waste resources, ending the ability to communicate through sight. But gazing into Filly’s shy yet courageous eyes, Ash felt closer to her heart than ever before.

As their gazes intertwined, a blurred emotion bred within the light and shadow.

Thunk!

A heavy sound resounded from the safety door behind them, making Ash instinctively glance at his outstretched hand, marked by a gap. As he turned back, his black eyes restored to clarity and brightness, letting Filly see the shadow of her own unwillingness.

“I—”

“If you apologize, I might really cry,” Filly lowered her head, biting her lower lip as she spoke.

“…Thanks for the hospitality.” Ash smiled, accepting the Holy Grail from her hand.

The Dull Holy Grail was empty inside, yet it hadn’t disappeared, nor did it emit any glow. Perhaps like the Seven-colored Tail and Golden Fish, it could be taken out and transford into a special item.

“No matter what happens later, don’t speak; let handle it,” he urged. “Although, she likely won’t hold it against you, it’s mainly who’s in trouble, so don’t speak for , or else it’ll complicate matters.”

Realizing Ash wasn’t joking, Filly grew tense, “What will happen to you?”

“Nothing major,” Ash replied with a carefree expression, although his left hand holding the Holy Grail trembled slightly, “I probably won’t die… right?”

“Why don’t you—”

“No way,” Ash shook his head firmly, “let alone the fact I lack the ability to hide or lie, more crucially, I’m unwilling to conceal or lie to her. I couldn’t bear it. For , wearing a mask even before the Sword Maiden would indeed be Hell.”

Filly blinked, “Wouldn’t saying it be Hell as well?”

“There’s a chance it might lead to the literal Hell,” Ash quipped.

Filly shook her head, grabbing Ash’s arm, “Let’s explain together, after all, it was sudden, and I share responsibility—”

“You must say nothing, just play the innocent victim,” Ash refused. “I triggered the trap, signaled you; I’m the one who benefited, where’s your liability? Don’t worry, just cover your ears and don’t look at when it happens, it’ll be over soon.”

“But I benefited too!”

“The Dull Holy Grail was yours to condense, drinking so is as expected, doesn’t count.”

“The benefit I an,” Filly softly said, gazing at his collar revealing his collarbone, “isn’t from the Dull Holy Grail.”

Ash blinked, feeling slightly pleased yet troubled. Joy was apparent, but the trouble lay in explaining yet another offense…

Then, there was a knock on the door outside, evidently the Mages lacking spoils had retreated, concluding the Holy Grail guard battle. Ash released the Sword Maiden’s hand, about to open the door when the Dull Holy Grail suddenly ripped open a portal, sucking Ash inside, and Filly reached out, only to grasp at empty air.

When Sonia and the others opened the door, they found only the stunned Filly left in the vault.

“Eh?” iwa was also shocked, “Is Sonia’s lover actually a woman?!”
