Chapter 790: Chapter 614 Dead City

“But what’s the point of trapping Silver Lamp like this?”

They landed on the rooftop of the tallest building closest to the Light Cage, and Igula asked pointedly, “Day and night, do you think you can trap Silver Lamp to death?”

There was no doubt that the prison was sealed off from both inside and outside. There was no way to attack from the outside. Even if a large troop was gathered to prepare for a Miracle to take Silver Lamp away in one swoop, the Gray Fox Sanctuary would stretch the perception of ti to the limit, finding gaps within the infinitely prolonged ti where even the densest attacks could be evaded.

Not to ntion that Silver Lamp was a Sanctuary Holy Mage; if there were no gaps, she could rip one open herself.

Don’t forget, Silver Lamp had the ability to Host God, with explosive combat power transcending the legendary, and her transformative forms were versatile enough to cope with all situations. That was why even after the Four Pillars God Sect surrounded and pursued her for half a month, they still couldn’t catch a glimpse of her—she was virtually a moving disaster.

Silver Lamp’s own combat power was ranked first in the Senluo Sequence, skilled in Counter Reconnaissance and Disguises. Without the prophetic Miracle of the rcury Wooden Horse, they wouldn’t even dream of picking up her trace.

Compared to their futile efforts, these past few days had been fruitful for Silver Lamp, robbing the Four Pillars God Sect of their Great Skills.

Within the Four Pillars God Sect, those extinction-faction Great Skills were used as diums for the advent of the Pillar Gods. If the rcury Wooden Horse used Believers as a dium for possession, then the Pillar Gods used Great Skills as theirs.

But these Great Skills, lacking believers to replenish energy, would disappear after use, essentially serving as single-use sheaths for the Pillar Gods. That’s why, given the choice, they’d rather smile in the arms of a beautiful girl than cry within the temples of the Pillar Gods.

Ash and the others were naturally pleased to see Silver Lamp bite and fight with the Four Pillars God Sect; no matter who lost, they would still gain—preferably both sides bashing each other’s brains out.

“Indeed, we cannot directly harm Silver Lamp,” admitted the rcury Wooden Horse, “But she will definitely surrender.”

“Why?”

“Because aside from ‘Sanctuary,’ there is another chanism at work in the City of No Disaster.”

“Wait a mont,” Black Crow suddenly interjected, “Isn’t this place… the Dead City?”

“You’re correct,” said the rcury Wooden Horse, looking at Ash and the others. “Haven’t you wondered why, despite the wonderful legacy of Gray Fox, this city remains in ruins?”

Indeed.

Even Blind Town and Black Robe Town, which are ‘legacy cities’ with significant flaws, have beco rare trade centers within the Qinri Alliance rely because their security is guaranteed. A place like the City of No Disaster should undeniably be occupied by major factions, influencing the surrounding areas to beco the top city in Senluo!

“During the day, the City of No Disaster truly acts as a ‘Sanctuary’ that keeps everyone away from danger. But co nightfall, it turns into the Dead City.”

The rcury Wooden Horse looked towards the gray sky. “Anyone who stays here after dark, without exception—”

“Will die in the city.”

“There have been more than one sects trying to establish camps here, only to have everyone dead by the next day.”

“So, compared to the protection of the Sanctuary, the deeper impression it leaves is that of an ‘inaccessible Dead City.'”

Ash inquired, “How do people die while staying in the city? Didn’t you say that encountering danger would extend the perception of ti to avoid it? Does the ‘Sanctuary’ stop working at night, unable to continue protecting them?”

“I don’t know,” replied the rcury Wooden Horse. “I’ve conducted many repetitive experints considering various dinsions such as race, age, strength, and belief. We can find the bodies within the city, showing that they died without any injuries, their bodies completely healthy with no signs of decay, but they still died.”

Repetitive experints…

Ash and the others chewed on these words and beca acutely aware once again, realizing that the being speaking beside them was nothing but a monster wearing soone else’s skin.

“If I have to say anything, it seems like they all carved words before dying.”

Carving words?

Ash and the others were taken aback, looked around, and saw signs of writing everywhere in the city, a wave of unbelievable panic rising within—were these texts left by those swallowed by the Dead City?

“However, I don’t need to probe into how exactly the Dead City consus people,” said the rcury Wooden Horse nonchalantly. “I just need to utilize this chanism to achieve my purpose.”

“So,” Harvey asked calmly, “Do you plan to trap Silver Lamp until nightfall? To perish together with her?”

“As I said, what I need is her surrender,” the rcury Wooden Horse stated. “Even if my people withdraw, the four-pillar prison can still last for 30 minutes. My plan is to confront Silver Lamp until 30 minutes before nightfall, then leave the City of No Disaster for the camp outside the city.”

Following the direction pointed by the rcury Wooden Horse, Ash and the others faintly saw a camp at the edge of a deep pit on the western side.

“If Silver Lamp surrenders before then, that would naturally be a joyful outco,” continued the rcury Wooden Horse calmly. “If she surrenders in the last 10 minutes, I can still rescue her in ti.”

“But if she insists until the last 10 minutes…” her voice carried a hint of mockery, “then she can only pray for the grace of the Pillar Gods.”

“You have no objections to this plan, right?”

Everyone looked towards Ash, who gazed at the four-pillar prison before him, slightly lost in thought.

Objectively speaking, the rcury Wooden Horse’s plan was flawless. Even Ash never thought they could safely capture Silver Lamp while ensuring her life—such an act would be akin to risking their own lives—now that Silver Lamp was taking all the risks, it was undeniably better.

The only risk was if Silver Lamp was swallowed by the Dead City, Ash would automatically rise through the ranks by touch. If anyone opposed, it would be for this reason, and Igula and the others would likely agree, but…

Ash closed his eyes to contemplate for a mont, then opened them and said, “I have no objections.”

“Then, will you be staying at our camp tonight?” the rcury Wooden Horse inquired.

“Thank you for your kindness,” Igula imdiately said, “We haven’t slept outdoors for several days, our skin is itching; we’d rather not sleep in your beds.”

In the past ten days, Ash and his group’s biggest breakthrough was attempting to navigate through the night.

The results were celebratory; everyone was able to resist the green strangle, and they were no longer afraid of spending nights without a town. It made sense for Tamasi and Harvey to resist the green strangle, but Ash and Igula were surprised by their own iron will, having always thought of themselves as relatively weak individuals.

Harvey hit the nail on the head with their confusion, “You also don’t consider what you’ve suffered these days.”

Leaving aside the adventures before arriving in Senluo, chasing the Silver Lamp after reaching Senluo had been extraordinarily arduous, compounded by the experience of the nightfall when Ash was forced to separate from them, enduring the vast torrents of the Flowing Gold River; Igula spent days without sleep, combing through information to find the Secret Key to open the Abyss Channel.

Unknowingly, they had learned to ‘allow’ themselves to suffer, to ‘allow’ the world to be full of disappointnts.

Thus, the night also ‘allowed’ them to live in the darkness.

They no longer relied on the night shelter provided by the Four Pillars God Sect; they could handle a night in the darkness on their own.

The rcury Wooden Horse sighed, opting to remain silent thereafter.

Instead, Ash suddenly asked, “Was that a miracle of the Star Magic Faction that you used just now?”

“Um, why do you ask?”

“I’m just curious; I rarely see anyone from that faction.”

“Oh, that’s normal. There aren’t many mages in this faction. A part of the Star Magic Spirit unexpectedly self-destructed recently, greatly weakening the power of Star Mages.” The rcury Wooden Horse calmly said, “That’s also why I used this body to et you.”

*

As ti passed, twilight enveloped the sky, and the daylight faded. Lights began to shine in the distant camp of the Four Pillars God Sect while the vast Dead City was gradually swallowed by shadows, turning the Four Pillars Prison into the brightest source of light.

“Silver Lamp, just co out and sever your limbs, drain your silver blood, and we will unlock the prison to free you…”

The call for surrender continued to echo within the prison, the terms being exceedingly harsh; but considering the opponent was Silver Lamp, they seed perhaps not thorough enough.

Ash squinted at the horizon’s light, “How much longer until dark?”

“About 45 minutes,” Black Crow said.

“You all go ahead. I need to let the periter patrol go first,” the rcury Wooden Horse said, “Since you aren’t coming to the camp anyway. Regarding the outco… Ash, you’ll surely know faster than I do.”

Everyone understood the subtext in rcury Wooden Horse’s words: If Silver Lamp wasn’t dead, Ash would naturally not beco tangible; if Silver Lamp died, then Ash would instantly beco tangible.

The group exchanged glances. Ash carried Black Crow on his back, then unfolded his Void Wings and flew away.

Once they were far from the Four Pillars Prison, Ash asked, “Can it really succeed?”

“In theory, Silver Lamp should surrender,” the Spirit Mage Igula analyzed. “She isn’t the type to die rather than submit; she would struggle until the last drop of blood to seek a miracle.”

Black Crow noticed Ash’s body tremble slightly at the ntion of ‘until the last drop of blood.’

“It just seems too easy,” Harvey said. “It’s hard to imagine Silver Lam allowing herself to be captured so easily… Perhaps she has the Space Miracle, so way to instantaneously teleport and escape the Dead City.”

“The Four Pillars Prison definitely has an anchoring effect in space; there can’t be such a vulnerability,” Ash frowned. “Still, sothing feels strange…”

Boom!

Suddenly, a deafening roar ca from behind!

They nearly fell from the shock as they turned to look, only to discover the Four Pillars Prison had collapsed!

When they turned back to assess the situation, they found the rcury Wooden Horse had caught up, “Hurry, Silver Lamp has found the ‘Sanctuary’ heritage itself, and is trying to seize it! Two of my four Holy Sanctuary Mages have been crippled; co quickly to help!”

The group exchanged looks and, without hesitation, turned back rushing toward the scene!

The ‘Sanctuary’ effect was terrifying; if Silver Lamp obtained the ‘Sanctuary,’ unless an Angel descended, no one in Senluo could match her!

However, by the ti Ash and his companions arrived at the scene, they found that although a corner of the Four Pillars Prison had crumbled, still…

three pillars were in operation.

As everyone knows, three points can define a plane.

The area of the Three Pillars Prison was significantly reduced, but it was still confining a part of the city. Observing this, Ash and the others imdiately sensed sothing terribly wrong!

“Too late.”

They looked up to see the once bright sky suddenly plunged into darkness. Or rather, it had already been swallowed by the night.

It was the western camp of the Four Pillars God Sect, using the miracle of Light Magic to create the illusion that it wasn’t yet dark!

Ash and the others turned, looking towards the leisurely returning rcury Wooden Horse.

“I don’t need to know how the Dead City devours people,” she said. “I just need to utilize this chanism to achieve my goal.”
