“If she really died, everyone would only mourn and rember her. Sword Flower University would hold a morial for her, and her portrait and statue would be left in the school…” Lois said calmly, “Now, so people are just impatient to mourn and desperate to showcase their presence on the forums.”
“That’s what I don’t understand,” Adelle asked, “Not liking Nia is one thing, but why do so many people hate her? She didn’t offend them, nor did she touch their interests.”
Lois leaned back against the chair, looking up at the ceiling, and said, “If I weren’t so close to her, I’d probably dislike her too.”
“She didn’t offend , nor did I have any interest entanglents with her, but I always hear her na, the school praises her, forums discuss her, even opening the Light Screen might show her endorsent… and she’s my peer.”
“So people like her for her excellence, but others find her annoying and hate her,” Lois said softly, “She makes anxious, makes jealous, and most importantly, she’s not perfect.”
“She’s not like Demi who cos from nobility, she’s just a village girl from a small town; she went from becoming a mage to advancing to the Holy Domain in just a few months, the process full of mystery… Even Demi is disliked by many truth-seeking students, how could soone like Sonia possibly gain everyone’s love?”
“Do those forum people really hate Sonia? How could they, most of them haven’t even t Sonia, they’re just going with the flow.” Lois looked at Adelle, “If you’re free, co down and pick a show to watch with , I want to take a break anyway.”
Adelle nodded quietly, ca down in her pajamas, moved a chair next to Lois, opened the Light Screen, picked a show, and suddenly asked, “Could she be unable to co back?”
After a brief silence, Ingrid, doing inverted sit-ups with her legs hanging from the bed, jumped down. She was steaming hot, her workout shirt completely soaked, took a shallow sip of water, and said, “Should we go find her?”
“The school has already checked the ditation Building, she’s not there,” Lois said, “Do you know where else she might spend the night?”
“At her boyfriend’s place?”
“Are you answering a riddle with another riddle?” Lois replied bluntly, “We can’t even be sure if her boyfriend really exists.”
“So are we just supposed to wait here?” Adelle’s voice was full of fatigue, “Is there nothing I can do?”
“Study,” Lois said, “Studying is never wrong.”
“At a ti like this, how can I focus on studying!”
“You make it sound like you usually can focus on studying…”
“Is it just my imagination,” Ingrid suddenly said, “or are you really not that anxious, Lois?”
“Maybe it’s because I’ve been watching her for the longest ti,” Lois said calmly, “From the first day of sharing a dorm, I’ve been competing with her, and the more we competed, the prettier she beca, the more popular she got. Ingrid went to change clothes after wiping herself, then moved a chair to join them in watching the show. Just when the show was reaching its first climax, the sound of keys turning in the door was heard.
The three of them turned their heads, staring blankly at the door, but instead of a red-haired Swordswoman, six strangers in black uniforms appeared before them.
It was clear that these six people were sowhat surprised by their presence as well.
The leading man and woman exchanged a glance, showed their credentials, and said, “We are from the school administration office, and we need to carry out a task. Please leave the dormitory for a while.”
They looked at the IDs and realized the visitors were indeed two deputy directors from the administration office.
Adelle mumbled, ready to change clothes, but Ingrid and Lois didn’t catch on.
“What kind of task requires the administration to sneakily open a student dormitory with a spare key?” Lois asked calmly, “It’s class ti, theoretically, we shouldn’t even be in the dorm. Were you planning to co in and steal while we’re out?”
“Students nowadays are increasingly disrespectful,” the female deputy’s face darkened, “Student dormitories are school property, and the administration has the right to manage them!”
“Then you could notify us to cooperate in executing the task. Why must we leave?” Lois asked, “What’s so secretive that we can’t know?”
“There are plenty of things students can’t be privy to,” the female deputy remarked disdainfully, “Who do you think you are? A Holy Sanctuary Mage?”
“No comnt.” Compared to the female deputy, the male deputy was more reserved and precise, “Students have the duty to cooperate with the school’s work, please leave imdiately.”
Ingrid: “But how can you prove…”
“Okay.”
Lois interrupted Ingrid, standing up and preparing to close the door, “We’ll leave after changing—”
“No need to trouble yourselves,” the male deputy blocked the door with his foot, “You just need to go to another dorm or wait downstairs; you’ll return soon.”
Lois reluctantly said, “Then we can at least bring so books down to review, right?”
She turned her head, giving Adelle and Ingrid a look, “Grab a few books, the most important ones.”
Ingrid was still a bit confused, but Adelle imdiately rushed to Sonia’s desk, pulling open a drawer and pretending to search for sothing, “Wait a mont, I’ll find it and burn it—”
“What are you doing?!”
As the administrative personnel burst in with anger and surprise, Lois suddenly stepped aside, shooting a Rapid Stream onto the floor while Ingrid kicked the chair fiercely, launching it like a cannonball at the intruders!
“I knew it.” Lois sneered, “You’re here to steal.”
