"What is this...?" Seer could only let out a low mutter that faded off toward the end of her breath.
Before her, the terrible abomination that had seed world-ending in its might was screaming and wailing so loudly that the sound felt like it was tearing at her very sanity.
Seer had gone numb from trying to reconcile this current image with the sa terrifying image from literally seconds ago. She lay there on the ground, her fingers digging into the dirt as she watched the predator beco the prey.
Was this the sa abomination that had terrified her so thoroughly? Was this the sa creature that filled her with a certain sense of inevitable death when it first crawled out of the chasm? Was this the sa abomination that seed so undefeatable and so absolute to her eyes?
Because what she saw right now was none of that. The power dynamic of the battlefield had shifted so rapidly that it felt thoroughly jarring.
A huge chunk of the abomination’s long, spindly arm had been chomped off cleanly, the remaining part dangling uselessly by a thin thread of skin and muscle as the creature struggled to retreat back into the safety of the dark.
On its body, a massive creature that looked like a wolf of so sort was going batshit crazy. It had a shadowy black fur with cracks of purple lightning streaking across its back and through its mane. The wolf was relentless as it chomped off various parts of the giant’s body.
It sent powerful jolts of electricity through the abomination, the flashes of purple light so blinding that Seer had to squint to keep her eyes on the struggle. These currents were powerful enough that Seer could literally feel the heat as a scorching, dry pressure against her skin from this distance.
The air was charged heavily with the sll of ozone and burning hair as the wolf struck again and again. Every bite was accompanied by a discharge of energy that stunned the abomination in quick succession.
The wolf used every mont of the creature’s stunned state to further wreak havoc, dismbering it alive.
The wails of the giant were gut-wrenching, as gooey and disgusting pus flowed from its open innards in various places, coating its wiry, hairy, pale skin like slick oil. The liquid sizzled as it touched the grass, creating a foul-slling smoke that rose in thick plus around the battlefield.
This was an absurd turn of events. Seer felt like she had just been put through a whole rollercoaster of emotions in the span of five minutes. She had felt fear, caution, anger, discontent, and despair. Now she had reached a state of absolute shock that had simply made her numb. Her capacity for surprise had been exhausted.
Her expression was flat. She had reached a point where anything that happened would simply be taken in stride. If the sky were to fall or the earth to open up and swallow the world, she would likely just watch it happen without blinking.
She cast a glance at where the Error Bearer had been earlier, at the edge of the chasm, and he was still very much there. He stood perfectly still, watching the clash of titans as if it were of no concern to him at all.
Did he really have to be that nonchalant? Seer thought for a second as she blankly stared at him from her position on the ground.
But then she looked away and up at the fight again.
No. It wasn’t that he was being nonchalant. In fact, he himself might not know he was doing it. He was simply just that unconcerned. He was at a level of power where sothing like this wasn’t enough to make him move or react.
That must have been why he hadn’t killed her either.
Seer let out a dry, humorless chuckle that turned into a cough. She should have felt so spite and bitterness. She should have felt so level of dissatisfaction from not being considered a threat he even felt a need to kill.
His attention had been drawn by the abomination and he’d simply dropped her to the ground mid-fight because he had seen sothing more interesting.
"Don’t kill it!!" That voice from before scread again. It was shrill and desperate, even overpowering the shrieking cries of the abomination being dismbered by the wolf.
Seer’s attention refocused, and she spotted the Harvester Cult girl dashing with blistering speeds toward the crying abomination.
A furious expression was on her face — a look that was so black and fury-filled, it could kill. Her hair scattered about as she shrieked again, her charge putting her directly against the Error Bearer.
An infighting? Seer raised a brow. Does this girl have a death wish?
While Seer found it pleasing that the enemies were about to fight between themselves, she knew there was no real fight to be had here. A fight could only be called that when the two parties were of sowhat equal strength.
No one here was on the level of the Error Bearer. Not even the Harvester Cult girl with her Enforcer status. That was very much certain to Seer now. The gap between them was not a step, it was a canyon.
In fact, if I were to place his strength... Her mind went to a most special group of Transcendents. The ones who have lived since the first Transcendents were born. And also... that man...
A shiver went through her body sharply before she refocused again.
Yes... I guess it is only people like ’them’ that can actually have a real fight with him. He is a monster in human skin.
The Harvester Cult girl reached the Error Bearer in seconds, and it seed she actually intended to go through with her attack.
Was she truly that crazy? What was it about this creature that made her so frantic? Did she want it to continue in its killing spree? Or did she know exactly what it was and wanted it alive for so darker purpose?
