Chapter 989
Devan’s punch shattered the sound barrier.
Not only was the sonic wall broken, but the ground for twenty ters onward was also completely demolished.
Chunks of debris and thick dust billowed into the air.
Those who had been standing near the trajectory of his strike had already scrambled away just in ti to avoid being obliterated.
The one whom this attack was targeted at?
He was no longer there.
He was standing ters away.
... Wait! Standing?
Spinning around, everyone began scanning for the Supre Magus, only to see him sitting on an earth chair—expertly crafted by his own hand—with his chin resting casually on his knuckles.
His brown eyes crackled with lightning, as did his fingers.
Yawning loudly, he looked around at the shocked faces of disbelief, seemingly indifferent to the fact that he was in the middle of a battlefield.
"What? I’m tired. The journey from my world to this place took a heavy toll on . And instead of resting, look at what I have been thrown into. Don’t bla ."
Devan was beyond furious at this point. It was as if the kid was toying with him.
It seed as though he wasn’t even taking the situation seriously.
"... Look, I’m getting old, yeah? My legs are already becoming jelly, so allow this old mage to rest peacefully for a while. We can continue our spat later on when I’m fully rejuvenated."
Grey yawned once more and then proceeded to close his eyes.
Within monts, a loud, steady snore echoed across the terrain.
Looks of utter disbelief were etched on every face present.
They had to look at one another as if they were collectively dreaming, but no—this was no hallucination.
Grey was really out.
Sleeping soundly as if he were in his own bedroom.
"Ohoy, Grey! Wake up!" Da shouted in irritation, but he was only answered with more rhythmic snoring.
"Is he for real?" Mada questioned, looking at his companions in confusion.
Even Han and Dan, hiding in the sky above, had bewildered looks on their faces.
What was the Supre Magus doing?
How could he be sleeping at a ti like this?
’Wait...’ Han frowned as sothing clicked in his mind.
Even Dan, who was usually all brawn and no brains, realized sothing too as he turned to look at his brother.
"Ohoy~ doesn’t he remind you of yourself? Making sure to let the enemy drop their guard and underestimate you."
Han looked at his brother in surprise. "I knew that looked familiar. But how is he snoring? I feel like this isn’t a ruse."
....
Devan’s hands were tightly curled at his sides.
His teeth audibly ground against each other while his eyes began to glint dangerously.
"FUCK YOU! HOW DARE YOU!"
BANG—!
Devan was gone.
The soil groaned under his bulky fra as he crossed the distance between him and Grey in a single second.
A massive Ki spear glead in his hand as he thrust it fiercely at Grey’s chest, hoping to impale him along with the earth chair.
The next second, Grey’s eyes snapped open swiftly.
A sharp smile creased his face.
"Gotcha."
Grey imdiately vanished from view, blinking out of the way just as the Ki spear crashed into the empty chair, instantly reducing it to rocky rubble.
Before Devan could realize what was happening, the ground gave way beneath his feet, turning into treacherous quicksand.
It was unable to trap him, however, as he proceeded to vault into the air just in ti.
’Hot.’
Looking up, a net of flas appeared above him, crackling with lethal intensity.
’... When did he...?’
The net descended, crashing onto him as if he were a fish caught in a snare.
In a second, he was yanked out of the air and hamred into the ground with trendous montum.
The earth transford into a ten-ter-wide crater that kicked up dust and chunks of debris into the air like a heavy blanket.
The net was beginning to burn Devan, searing into his skin like termites on wood.
With a loud, guttural growl, his Ki spear flashed forward, imdiately ripping through the net of flas and dispelling the heat away from his fra.
Springing to his feet, his gaze sharpened instantly as he found a hundred lightning arrows pointed directly at him.
Behind them, Grey stood with a wide, confident smile.
Click—!
The arrows were fired without any hesitation whatsoever.
They closed the distance between the projectiles and the leader within a jiffy.
Before they could strike the man, however, he had also vanished from view in a streak of yellow light.
The arrows burrowed into the ground instead, turning the soil into another giant, smoking crater.
Devan materialized before Grey in a single second. But the Supre Magus remained unfazed.
The ground trembled for a mont, causing Devan to glance down in anticipation of the earth giving way again or sothing bursting out of the depths.
But nothing ca.
Instead, a Ki-infused punch from the flank crashed into his face with the force of a bullet train, lifting the man off his feet and sending him ricocheting across the battlefield like a bouncy ball.
"Yayyyyy—!"
The Dawn forces cheered loudly, as if they were spectators at a high-stakes sport.
Conversely, the Behemoth Clan fud silently as they watched their leader tumbling across the dirt like a discarded ragdoll.
Lightning ran up and down the Supre Magus’ body with violent intensity.
Then, with a deafening bang, he surged forward, closing the gap between him and the tumbling leader, who had already dug his spear into the ground to co to a jagged halt.
Only for a shadow to be cast over him.
Grey hovered in the air with a gigantic earth club that descended like a vengeful fist from heaven.
BAM—!
The earth club shattered against Devan’s face.
A single drop of blood flew from his nose as his head was thrown to the side from the sheer force of the strike.
The ground split open almost imdiately as the Supre Magus landed back on the earth.
A heartbeat later, Devan’s head snapped forward to glare at the warrior mage with a murderous, predatory gaze.
"You are dead, kid."
A gunshot-like sound echoed across the field.
In a blink, Devan reached out and grabbed the Supre Magus by the neck.
Crack—!
Grey’s eyes stretched wide in agonizing pain from the massive force exerted on his throat.
