Mason POV
Shocked to my core, I stare at Katie touching my very naked and aroused brothers, and I see red. What the fuck is she doing with those assholes? And why does it sll like an orgy in here?
I clench my fists, roaring as my claws shoot from my hands.
“Calm down, Mason,” Kane says, holding up his hands. “You’re not in rogue territory anymore. You’re on my land now.”
“Shut the fuck up, Kane,” I snarl. “Stop trying to steal my fucking mate again. It’s not going to happen.”
Colt rears up inside , pushing to attack, and Katie gasped. I look at her, and my rage surges hotter and harder than before. Yes, she looks surprised and scared. But she also looks flushed, and her eyes are glittering with sothing like excitent.
She wanted to be here with them. And she is probably pissed that I have interrupted whatever the fuck was going on when I walked in.
I clench my fist and raise it high, and for one sweet, satisfying second, a look of horror flashes across Kane’s face. But I spin around and bring it down hard against the mirror on the wall. The glass shatters, and blood pours out of my hand, but I do not give a fuck.
I march out of the shower room before Colt takes over completely, and I do sothing I cannot co back from. If I touch even one little hair on their on their big-ass heads, I would be thrown to the literal wolves of the council.
I cannot touch those motherfuckers on their ho turf, but Project: Bring Brothers Down from the Inside is back on.
“Mason, wait!” Katie yells, running after .
“Don’t, Katie,” I say, not turning around.
“Please,” she catches my arm from behind, and I swing around, claws raised.
But when I see the fear in her eyes and watch her cower below , all my rage suddenly turns to ice in my veins, and I drop my hand to my side.
“What?” I ask bluntly. “What could you possibly say right now?”
“I know what you’re thinking,” she says calmly. “But it’s not ...”
“Don’t. You. Dare.” I bite out the words. “Don’t you dare tell it’s not what it looks like, because I’m not a fucking idiot. Their dicks nearly penetrated the ceiling, Katie, and you were touching them. I don’t know what you rember from your biology class, but when a man’s dick stands like the Eiffel Tower, it’s not to take a piss.”
“That’s not what I was going to say,” she argues, her cheeks flushed. “I ...”
“You lied to ,” I cut her off. I am too hurt and angry to listen to her la ass excuses. I saw what I saw. “I thought you were different, I thought you were the one. I love you and was going to ask you to be my mate for real. This is Alice all over again. Kane and Axel stole you from , just like before, and you lied about it.”
“Will you let speak?” She snaps; her cheeks flushed with anger. “I wasn’t going to insult your intelligence or deny what you saw. Yes, I touched them, and yes, we were all aroused, but I didn’t choose them over you! I haven’t touched them, and they didn’t touch until now. When I called a ti-out between us this morning, it had everything to do with us moving too fast.”
“Oh, really,” I snap. “So, you want to fuck around a little until you’re ready to settle down?”
“That’s low,” she says, looking at with anger. “I’m sorry I hurt you when I called things off, but that gives you no right to call a slut.”
I have the decency to feel bad for what I have said. But not bad enough to apologise.
“That doesn’t even matter, Katie,” I say, shaking my head and my wolf retreats. “I am done. You wanted it. You wanted them. I’ve been through this shit once; I’m not doing it again.”
“Yeah,” she crosses her arms. “You’re right, we’re done.”
“It was a mistake to bring you here.” I sneer and turn around.
Katie POV
I am so infuriated, my vision is blurring, and my ears are ringing. I understand he is upset but fuck him for calling a slut. I have not slept with a man since ... fuck knows when. Definitely not since I woke up after my accident.
If I had any doubts about ending it with Mason, I now know I made the right decision. I know he is sensitive after Alice did what she did, but ... wait a second.
“Hey, Mason,” I call after him. “What did you do to Elara?”
My words stop him in his tracks, and he slowly turns around to look at .
“What?” He mutters, confused.
“You heard ,” I say, walking closer to him. “You said you screwed up with Elara. What have you done?”
“It’s none of your business,” he sneers.
“You’re right,” I nod. “But here’s my point. You’re mad at your brothers and Alice, you’re insulting , but are you the saint you claim to be?”
“I never claid to be a saint,” he hisses.
“Right,” I sneer sarcastically. “You’re only self-righteous. I didn’t cheat on you; I didn’t lie to you. All I’ve done is break up with you. Which I have every right to do.”
“Careful calling the kettle black when you’re the pot, Mason,” I walk past him.
I am furious, and so is Lily. I start running outside, and as soon as my feet hit the grass, I rip off my clothes, shift, and head for the forest.
I realise I am leaving Mindy high and dry, waiting for a towel, and I feel bad, but Mason’s words hurt more than I would like to admit, and I need to clear my head before I face another single person.
Gabriela would probably have my head when she hears what I have done, but at least Stella is safe with her.
I run until my muscles ache, and I am short of breath. Only then do I realise I ran straight to the spot we were this morning. The late afternoon sun is shimring on the lake, and it is breathtakingly beautiful.
A branch breaks close by, and I snap my head toward the sound. I raise my nose high and sniff the air. It is the sa strange sll Lily had gone nuts for this morning. Lily sends pacing in circles. Clearly, she is still going crazy. And so am I because I know what that sll ans ... Vampire.
I look at the trees, and then I see him. An admittedly beautiful man with bright green eyes, cropped black hair, and a jaw chiselled by the goddess herself. He is wearing a flannel, perfectly fitting jeans, and boots.
When he sees , his eyes widen with recognition and amusent.
“I thought you’d gone missing,” he says in a smooth, deep voice. “Looks like I found you.”
