Yunling Town.
Cyan Luo Lane.
This is the most populated place in Yunling Town. Opposite Cyan Luo Lane is a bustling vegetable market, and a little further ahead is the night market.
Day and night, crowds of people flow in and out in front of Cyan Luo Lane.
Just three months ago, a Divine Maiden Temple suddenly appeared between the vegetable market and the night market.
Inside, a statue of the Divine Maiden is enshrined.
Interestingly, this Divine Statue is not one of the deities, Ancient Divine Beasts, or legendary Ascended Immortals commonly worshipped in the Eastern Cultivation Land.
Instead, it is a tall woman with red clothes and red hair, her face covered by a red veil.
Initially, the temple was ignored, but once, a Spirit Beast Master from Cyan Luo Lane was injured by a Demonic Beast and was critically ill. His friend carried him to the temple to kneel before the Divine Maiden.
Unexpectedly, the Spirit Beast Master’s wounds healed rapidly, and he soon recovered completely.
Similar incidents happened subsequently, and the fa of the Divine Maiden spread throughout Cyan Luo Lane and eventually all over Yunling Town, known for its miracles.
Therefore, every day, a steady stream of people visit to kneel and offer incense.
"Son-in-law, isn’t this... your master?"
At this mont, Qin Gengyun, Liu Su, Mo Xiaolan, and Yun Wu stood in the Divine Maiden Temple, looking up at that tall statue, all filled with astonishnt.
They imdiately recognized that the Divine Maiden statue was indeed Niantang ford by Qiu Zhihe!
Of course, Liu Su knew this Niantang wasn’t transford by Qiu Zhihe but by Xia Qinglian!
But regardless, why would soone sculpt a statue of Niantang and build a temple for her, drawing worship?
It’s now 5 p.m., and the sun is setting, yet many people still co to worship the Divine Maiden.
Their way of praying is interesting too; instead of spending Spirit Stones, they kneel on the ground and release their Spiritual Energy, which the Divine Statue naturally absorbs.
This is how they believe their wishes are granted by the Divine Maiden.
"Divine Maiden, I’m going to the Marriage Pavilion for a blind date tomorrow. Please bless with a gentle and virtuous Dao Companion!"
"Divine Maiden, I’ve been stuck at the Fourth-Layer of Qi Cultivation for years. Please help break through soon!"
"Divine Maiden, my wife and I only last less than fifty breaths each ti. Please bless to last a stick of incense!"
People’s wishes varied, so strange and so trivial. Qin Gengyun stood by, finding it absurd that people would worship a figure resembling his wife as a Divine Maiden.
"Who built this temple?"
"Son-in-law, I’ve inquired. It’s built by three butchers from a at shop in the Cyan Luo Lane vegetable market."
Liu Su had inquired and ca back to inform him.
The four of them went to the vegetable market and soon found the butcher shop.
The shop was easily recognizable, with a long queue in front of it. From a distance, Qin Gengyun let the three won wait while he joined the queue.
Asking around while in line, he learned that the shop sells fresh Spirit Beast at, and the shop’s three owners are nad Zhao Yi, Sun Er, and Qian San.
An incense stick later, it was finally Qin Gengyun’s turn. A long-faced male cultivator asked with a smile:
"My fellow Taoist, what at would you like to buy?"
Qin Gengyun spent ten Spirit Stones to buy two pounds of Snow Spirit Wolf at and casually chatted. He learned the long-faced man’s na was Zhao Yi, and he cupped his hands:
"Taoist Friend Zhao, I wish to ask, do you know the Divine Maiden?"
Zhao Yi was startled, his face changed, and he stared intently at him: "Fellow Taoist, what do you an by this?"
Qin Gengyun said nothing further but communicated telepathically: "Taoist Friend Zhao, I an no harm. It’s just that the statue resembles a friend of mine, and I’m curious."
Such telepathic communication can only be done by Foundation Establishnt Cultivators or higher. Zhao Yi was stunned for a mont and then announced to the custors behind that the shop was closing for the day. He shut the door and invited Qin Gengyun inside.
Soon after, Qian Er and Sun San also arrived. The three of them were visibly excited and bowed deeply to Qin Gengyun:
"Honored Senior, do you really know the Divine Maiden?"
Qin Gengyun nodded: "Not only do I know her, but we also share a deep connection."
The three exchanged glances, appearing sowhat unbelieving.
Qin Gengyun took out a set of red clothes and a red veil from his Storage Bag.
This was from the night on Cloud Bamboo Mountain when he had reconciled with his wife, who had taken on the appearance of Niantang. As a punishnt for her never to pull such a prank again, he had stripped her of this red outfit and kept it as a nto.
"This, is this the Divine Maiden’s clothing?!"
The three recognized the outfit imdiately, and their eyes reddened; they jumped up with faces full of murderous intent:
"What have you done to the Divine Maiden?"
Qin Gengyun raised a hand, and the three were pressed to the ground, yet they still shouted:
"You villain, what have you done to the Divine Maiden?! We must avenge her!!"
Qin Gengyun found it amusing, confirming that these three posed no ill will toward his wife and seed rather loyal.
Could they possibly be her subordinates?
Maybe he could learn so of his wife’s secrets she had concealed from him through them?
Thinking of this, Qin Gengyun calmly said, "Rest assured, I would never harm her because... she is my wife."
The room instantly fell silent.
Zhao Yi, Qian Er, and Sun San stared blankly at Qin Gengyun, their expressions extrely complex. Sun San murmured:
"Impossible! The Divine Maiden is a fairy descended to the mortal realm, pure and flawless. How could she be married already? You’re lying!!"
Qin Gengyun smiled and said: "My wife and I once lived in Yunling Town for a while. She would make Spirit Beast at soup for every day. At that ti, I wondered where she got so much Spirit Beast at. I suppose she obtained it from you?"
Listening to this, the three were dumbfounded.
"You, are you really the Divine Maiden’s... husband?"
Zhao Yi’s eyes glazed over, sothing in his heart shattered.
Qian Er and Sun San recalled monts of interaction with the Divine Maiden when she ntioned preparing dishes for a certain man with Spirit Beast at several tis.
Though they were reluctant to believe it at the ti, now they couldn’t help but believe it.
The three of them slumped to the ground, expressionless.
They didn’t harbor desires toward Niantang; it’s just that in their hearts, they placed her on an unattainable pedestal that ordinary people shouldn’t dream of.
Suddenly learning that the pure and noble Divine Maiden was already married was hard to accept.
Qin Gengyun found it rather amusing, like when a celebrity announces getting married, and the fans’ worldview collapses?
After the three sowhat cald down from their emotional upheaval, Qin Gengyun coldly asked:
"Why did you build a temple for my wife, and how did you co to know her? Speak straightforwardly, if you conceal any details, do not bla for being ruthless!"
He revealed the Spiritual Energy of soone at the Second-Layer of Foundation Establishnt, frightening the three considerably. Sun San hastily explained:
"Honored Senior, we hold no blasphemous intentions toward the Divine Maiden. Please do not misunderstand us!"
Then he recounted how they were once Ghost Cultivators robbing people but were caught by Niantang, forced to move the Alchemy Furnace around, and later were made to find Spirit Beast at for her. This coercion led them onto the Righteous Path.
"Three months ago, the Divine Maiden granted us the antidote for the Heart-devouring Pill, saying she was leaving Yunling Town and would never return. Grateful for her kindness, we built this temple for her."
"It was ant for us three to worship daily, yet strangely, the statue seed to have a spirit of its own and could absorb Spiritual Energy. We didn’t know what to make of it, thinking perhaps the Divine Maiden had returned. However, it was not the Divine Maiden who returned, but her... husband."
After they finished speaking, Qin Gengyun fell into silence.
So all this ti, my wife has been silently helping since then.
Wife, you are so deeply devoted to .
No matter what happens in the future, I will walk with you hand in hand, never parting!
