National Defense University corridor.

A few students in military uniforms blocked the path, led by a broad-shouldered man tossing a lighter in his hand.

Zhao Weidong.

He cos from a military family in Beijing, with a tough father in the operations departnt.

"Mr. Gu, I heard you went ho yesterday?"

Zhao Weidong blocked Gu Yanshen’s way, a smile on his face, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. "The all-military district joint exercise assessnt is in three days, and you still have the mind to go ho to hug your wife?"

The people next to him laughed along.

"Weidong, Mr. Gu is different, coming from the wild roads, he relies on brute strength. These tactical theories we’re learning, he doesn’t care about."

"That’s true, I heard his wife used to be the daughter of a capitalist? That background... Mr. Gu went ho not to study but to accept ’capitalist softening’, right?"

Harsh.

Gu Yanshen halted his steps.

He lifted his eyelids.

There was no emotion in those eyes, like two dried-up wells.

"Move aside."

Two words, thrown onto the ground.

The lighter in Zhao Weidong’s hand snapped shut with a "snap".

He stepped forward, his nose almost bumping into Gu Yanshen’s.

"Gu Yanshen, don’t think you’re impressive just because you earned a few combat hero titles. That’s desperate fighting, not command."

He pointed to the assessnt file attached to the side.

"This assessnt, red-blue confrontation. I’m the Red Army, with three tis the forces, chanized troops. You’re the Blue Army, an infantry regint without heavy firearms."

"This is a deadlock."

Zhao Weidong patted Gu Yanshen’s shoulder heavily.

"If you lose, don’t stay in the National Defense University. It’s embarrassing. Go back and live your days with your delicate capitalist wife."

"After all, only people like her care about looks instead of brains."

Gu Yanshen reached out.

He grasped Zhao Weidong’s wrist, the one on his shoulder.

Slowly tightening.

"Crack."

The sound of bones dislocating was clear.

Zhao Weidong’s face turned white, cold sweat instantly pouring down.

Gu Yanshen let go, like throwing away a dirty rag.

"See you on the battlefield."

With that, he strode through the crowd without looking back.

...

Late at night, Gu Family Courtyard.

The desk lamp was dim.

Gu Yanshen sat in front of a desk, with a large terrain map spread out in front of him, along with several pieces of scrap paper filled with data.

Three cigarette butts were already stubbed out in the ashtray.

His brows were furrowed tight.

Three tis the forces.

Firepower coverage.

Plain terrain.

This indeed was a deadlock.

No matter how he simulated it, the Blue Army couldn’t hold out for half an hour on the front battlefield.

A cup of hot milk was gently placed at the corner of the table.

Lin Wan Yi wore a cotton nightdress, her hair casually tied up, carrying the fresh scent from her shower.

"Is it difficult?"

She asked.

Gu Yanshen tossed the pencil on the table, rubbing his face.

"Yeah."

"Zhao Weidong might have a foul mouth, but he’s not wrong. With this force comparison, and in plain combat, conventional tactics are all dead ends."

He pointed at several spots on the map.

"As soon as I show up, his artillery coverage could flatten my regint."

This wasn’t just an assessnt.

It was about dignity.

The words Zhao Weidong used to humiliate Wanyi today had stabbed into his heart like a thorn.

If he lost, those people would only intensify their ridicule of her.

Lin Wan Yi glanced at the map.

She didn’t understand warfare.

But she understood logic.

She turned, walked to the bed, and with a thought, grabbed a book.

A deep blue cover, with several gold-lettered words printed on it.

"Ga Theory and Asymtric Conflict."

She had found it in a corner on the first floor of the library, initially thinking it was useless, but unexpectedly it beca of use tonight.

"Bang."

The book was smacked onto the map in front of Gu Yanshen.

Gu Yanshen paused.

"What is this?"

"I don’t know how to conduct military formations."

Lin Wan Yi pulled over a chair, sitting across from him, her long legs crossed.

"But I know how to play gas."

She opened the book, pointing to a Chapter.

"This is called asymtric warfare."

"Since you can’t fight head-on, why fight head-on?"

Gu Yanshen looked at the words in the book, his expression growing solemn.

"You an..."

"He’s a regular army, focused on positional warfare, and firepower advancent."

Lin Wan Yi extended her slender finger, pointing at the spot representing the Red Army command center on the map.

"You’re a rogue."

Gu Yanshen: "..."

Lin Wan Yi laughed, like a sly fox.

"What I an is, you have to use rogue tactics."

"The book says Nash equilibrium is about breaking the opponent’s expected returns."

"He thinks you’ll defend, but you won’t."

"Your goal isn’t to kill his live forces, it’s to paralyze his nerve center."

Gu Yanshen picked up the book, reading quickly.

This was the prototype of special operations theory summarized by future generations, almost a dinsional reduction strike in this era.

Decapitation operation.

Information blackout.

Psychological warfare.

Every term seed like a thunderbolt in his mind.

As he read, his breathing grew more rapid.

The map that previously seed a deadlock now appeared full of holes, vulnerable everywhere.

Lin Wan Yi rested her chin on her hand, watching her man’s focused profile.

"Mr. Gu, have you learned it?"

Gu Yanshen abruptly closed the book.

He turned his head, his gaze intensely fixed on Lin Wan Yi.

The gloom in his eyes was swept away, replaced by a wolf-like glow.

"Wanyi."

"Hmm?"

Gu Yanshen suddenly picked her up and placed her on his lap.

"You’re truly a witch."

"Is this what the books teach?" Lin Wan Yi encircled his neck, smirking mischievously.

"I taught myself this."

Gu Yanshen lowered his head and kissed her.

...

Three days later.

National Defense University, Tactical Simulation Hall.

In the center stood a massive sand table.

The hall was filled with leaders from the military district, alongside faculty and students from the university.

The atmosphere was solemn.

Zhao Weidong stood at the command position of the Red Army, his face lit up with pride and satisfaction.

He glanced at Gu Yanshen opposite him.

Gu Yanshen remained expressionless, not even holding a pen.

"Old Gu, have you given up?"

Zhao Weidong scoffed, "If you concede now, I can let you lose gracefully."

Gu Yanshen ignored him.

He simply glanced at his wristwatch.

"Begin."

With the referee’s order.

Zhao Weidong imdiately waved the command stick.

"Artillery battalion, initiate a blanket bombardnt on the Blue Army’s front positions!"

"Tank regint, advance!"

The montum was overwhelming.

Everyone nodded in agreent.

This was textbook strategy, solid and flawless.

However.

A minute passed.

Five minutes passed.

The Blue Army remained unresponsive.

No counterattack, no defense, not a single person was seen.

"What’s going on?"

Veteran generals on the viewing platform furrowed their brows.

"Has the Blue Army been scared stiff?"

Just as Zhao Weidong was about to order a full-scale assault.

A referee suddenly stood up, raising his hand with a peculiar expression.

"Report!"

"Speak."

"The Red Army... has lost."

Dead silence enveloped the hall.

Even the sound of a pin dropping could be heard.

Zhao Weidong, as if struck by lightning, turned abruptly.

"You’re talking nonsense!"

"My troops are only halfway through advancing and haven’t even seen him, how could we lose!"

The referee swallowed, pointing at the Red Army command post on the sand table.

"Just now."

"A twelve-mber Blue Army squad, wearing Red Army uniforms, infiltrated your command center."

"They cut your communication lines."

"And..."

The referee glanced at Gu Yanshen, his eyes full of reverence.

"Poisoned your water bottle."

"According to exercise rules, Red Army commander Zhao Weidong has ’fallen’."

"Command system is paralyzed, the entire army is annihilated."

"Ti taken... ten minutes."

Boom!

The whole hall erupted.

"Is this even possible?!"

"Isn’t this cheating!"

"What kind of strategy is this? Never heard of it!"

Zhao Weidong’s face turned the color of pig liver.

He threw his cap to the ground, pointing at Gu Yanshen, shouting.

"I don’t accept this!"

"Gu Yanshen! This is a dirty trick! Winning without honor!"

"You can’t beat on the front battlefield!"

Gu Yanshen calmly adjusted his cuffs.

He lifted his head, looking at the enraged Zhao Weidong.

His gaze was indifferent.

"This is war."

"Not child’s play."

"Would the enemy follow rules with you?"

These few words left Zhao Weidong speechless.

Generals on the viewing platform, snapped out of their shock.

A gray-haired vice president stood up, staring sharply at Gu Yanshen.

"Gu Yanshen."

"Present."

"What’s the na of this strategy? Who taught you?"

The vice president was very excited.

This kind of unconventional thinking is exactly what the army lacks now.

If it could be widely adopted...

All eyes were focused on Gu Yanshen.

Those who had once mocked him for being uneducated, relying on brute force, felt their faces burning right now.

Gu Yanshen stood tall.

Even facing the leader’s inquiries, his face showed no trace of pride.

Only a sense of justified calm.

"Reporting, sir."

"This is called ga theory."

"As for who taught it to ..."

Gu Yanshen paused for a mont.

His gaze swept over Zhao Weidong’s ashen face, over those who had once gossiped behind his back.

The corner of his mouth tugged lightly.

His voice, though not loud, resounded throughout the hall.

"My love taught ."

"The very ’pampered lady’ you all speak of."
