In Beijing’s winter, the wind cuts your face like a knife.

But inside the library of the Beijing Agricultural College, the heat rolls like waves. The radiators are scorching hot, the air is filled with the scent of old paper, ink, and the anxiety fernting from dozens of people gathered together.

"How can it not be here?"

"The library card clearly states it’s in the collection!"

A few thick-glasses-wearing male students were sweating profusely, their fingers making a rustling sound as they scoured through the borrowing log.

The book "Plant Genetics and Variation" is the translated edition of the original Soviet textbook; there’s only this one copy in the entire departnt. Dean Li ntioned that 30% of the final exam’s points would be from the cases in this book.

"Stop searching."

A sweet yet sowhat arrogant voice interjected.

Su Jiaojiao approached, wearing a brand-new wool coat and carrying a pile of student council files, her small leather shoes clicking against the floor. She was the arts committee mber of the departnt and a student council officer, often disdainful of Lin Wan Yi’s high-and-mighty deanor.

"I borrowed that book from the library two days ago to find materials for posters for the publicity departnt."

Su Jiaojiao shrugged, her face showing an insincere apology.

"Then, just now while eating at the cafeteria, it disappeared in the blink of an eye. Oh dear, I’m truly sorry; I have already reported it and will compensate the librarian."

"Compensation?"

A girl with braided hair was so anxious her eyes beca red, "That book is the only copy! You pay money, but where can we read? The exam is the day after tomorrow!"

"Exactly! Isn’t this ruining us?"

The surrounding students suddenly erupted in protest.

Su Jiaojiao, however, remained indifferent. She smoothed her hair by her temples, and her gaze precisely fell on a corner by the window.

Lin Wan Yi was sitting there.

Today she wore an off-white turtleneck sweater, sleeves rolled up, revealing a half inch of her fair wrist. The pen in her hand moved across the draft paper; she didn’t even raise her head, as if the surrounding noise had nothing to do with her.

A trace of envy flashed in Su Jiaojiao’s eyes.

It was said that the "living Yama" from the Gu Family had returned recently and even got promoted to deputy commander, causing a stir in the compound. Lin Wan Yi had taken three days off from school, and everyone assud she went back to take care of her man.

If her mind is all about n, why bother with studying?

Su Jiaojiao walked up to Lin Wan Yi’s table, knocking her fingers on the tabletop.

"Classmate Lin, I’m really sorry."

She bent down, her voice low, so only two people could hear, "I heard you spent the past few days with Commander Gu at ho, surely you didn’t have ti to review? Originally thought you could borrow that book for a last-minute study, but now it’s gone... This ti, the title of ’top student’ will likely not be yours anymore."

Lin Wan Yi paused her pen.

She wrote a period on the last line of the paper.

Then closed her pen cap with a crisp "click".

"Give up the seat?"

Lin Wan Yi raised her head, her clear eyes looking at Su Jiaojiao, as if observing a jumping clown, "Give it to you?"

Su Jiaojiao’s face stiffened, just about to erupt, when suddenly footsteps ca from the door.

Departnt Head Old Wang walked in with a stack of test papers.

"What’s all the noise about? Is the library a marketplace?"

Old Wang slamd the test papers on the podium, "The results from the pop quiz earlier are out."

The room fell silent instantly.

The students, who had been surrounding Su Jiaojiao seeking an explanation, shrank their necks. The quiz questions were incredibly difficult, all beyond the syllabus, leaving everyone feeling uncertain.

"This ti, most students didn’t do well! So even failed!"

Old Wang’s face was stern as he scanned the classroom, finally stopping by the window, where the frost on his face lted into a spring breeze.

"But! One student not only scored full marks but their solution approach was even more brilliant than the standard answer!"

Old Wang pulled out a test paper, shaking it with a rustling sound.

"Lin Wan Yi! Co up and get your paper!"

Su Jiaojiao’s face turned green instantly.

She glared venomously at Lin Wan Yi.

Lin Wan Yi stood up, walked calmly to the podium, and took her test paper.

The bright red "100" pierced the eyes painfully in the dim light.

"Teacher," Su Jiaojiao bit her lip, unwillingly raising her hand, "Classmate Lin did well this ti because these questions were all from the textbook. But the main questions in the final exam are in that lost ’Genetics’ book, and now the book is gone, we can’t revise, this isn’t fair to us!"

Her words seed to stand up for her classmates, but in fact, aid to turn the resentnt towards Lin Wan Yi—you’re the top student, everyone doesn’t have the book, so neither should you.

Sure enough, the surrounding students’ gazes dimd again.

Yeah, what’s the point of getting full marks on the pop quiz? The final exam is what truly matters. The book is gone, and everyone is in the sa boat.

"The book is indeed a problem." Old Wang also frowned, taking off his glasses to clean them, "That book isn’t available in the market; getting it from the provincial library now is too late..."

The classroom was filled with wailing.

Su Jiaojiao’s lips curled into a smug smile.

Without that book, even a genius like Lin Wan Yi couldn’t conjure up those complex genetic cases out of thin air. If Lin Wan Yi failed this exam, the scholarship would be hers.

"Who says you can’t study without the book?"

A clear, cold voice rang out.

Lin Wan Yi stood on the podium, not coming down.

She leaned on the podium with one hand, scanning the faces of those frustrated below, finally resting on Su Jiaojiao’s gloating face.

"Lin Wan Yi, what do you an?" Su Jiaojiao’s heart skipped a beat, "Are you saying you hid the book?"

"A beginner’s introductory material like that, I rembered it after reading it once, no need to hide."

Lin Wan Yi’s tone was calm, as if discussing what she had for dinner, nothing extraordinary.

The crowd went into an uproar.

Beginner’s introductory material?

That was the original Soviet textbook that made everyone’s hair fall out from cramming!

"Bragging without even thinking!" Su Jiaojiao sneered, "There are over a dozen genetic maps of hybrid rice in there alone, containing thousands of pieces of data, do you think you’re a cara?"

Lin Wan Yi ignored her.

She turned, picked up a piece of chalk, writing a large title on the blackboard with a swishing sound.

"Final Exam Blitz: Core Points and Case Analysis of Plant Genetics"

"Give three days."

Lin Wan Yi turned around, dusting chalk powder off her hands.

"I will compile all the key points in that book, combined with Dean Li’s class notes, into a study guide. Not only containing the original book’s content but also my corrections of several flawed cases."

She looked at the dumbfounded classmates below, her voice calm yet resonant.

"As long as you thoroughly understand this material, scoring above 90 on the final exam is a promise."

Even Old Wang had his mouth agape, his glasses halfway down his nose.

"Lin... Classmate Lin, are you serious?" The braided girl stood trembling, "Can you truly morize it?"

"Not only morize, but also optimize."

Lin Wan Yi picked up her backpack and slung it over one shoulder.

She walked to Su Jiaojiao, stopping her steps.

The two stood very close.

Lin Wan Yi was half a head taller than Su Jiaojiao, looking down at her.

"Su Jiaojiao, it’s okay that the book is lost."

Lin Wan Yi reached out, gently tidying Su Jiaojiao’s coat collar, her gestures gentle, yet her eyes as cold as ice.

"Lose your mind, and you won’t find it back."

After speaking, she brushed past Su Jiaojiao’s shoulder, striding out of the library.

Leaving only a chic silhouette, and a roomful of students staring at her as if they had seen a savior.

"Too... too audacious!"

"Now that’s a leading figure!"

"Long live Lin Wan Yi! I have hope now!"

The cheers from behind nearly lifted the roof.

Su Jiaojiao stood frozen, her nails digging deep into her palm’s flesh, her carefully painted face twisted like a palette.

Lin Wan Yi!

Since you volunteered such an impossible feat, I can’t wait to see how you wrap it up if you fail to deliver!
