’Co on, babe. I ca prepared this ti!’ Lu Yuan muttered to himself, continuously chambering rounds and firing.
The Long Snake saw that the person standing above the waterfall was completely unaffected by its roar.
Its body paused for a mont, and then it slithered rapidly upward, wanting to devour him in a single bite!
Though the Long Snake was enormous, it was extrely agile.
The Long Snake had its pride. Its nest had been blown up, and the realgar in the pool’s water hadn’t even dissipated yet.
Returning to the pool was out of the question. How could it swallow this insult without first swallowing this man?
Lu Yuan kept trying to hit a vital spot again; it would be difficult for the Long Snake to withstand two gunshots in the sa place.
Unfortunately, the Long Snake kept twisting its body, giving Lu Yuan no opportunity.
Lu Yuan dropped the Sniper Rifle, stood up, and swung the Automatic Rifle from his back to his front.
He pulled the rifle’s trigger and unleashed a spray of bullets.
Although the Long Snake was fast, climbing the nearly vertical cliff face, especially against the cascading waterfall, was proving to be quite strenuous.
More importantly, the aftereffects of that "depth charge" hadn’t worn off yet.
This Long Snake had incredible endurance. Even with a full magazine of bullets riddling its body, the enraged creature paid no mind to the pain.
Its snake brain was addled with fury.
It only wanted to charge forward and tear apart the person who had injured it.
Seeing how tenacious the Long Snake was, Lu Yuan quickly swapped out the magazine, chambered a round, and unleashed another spray of bullets.
From his practiced movents, it looked like Lu Yuan had played his fair share of first-person shooters in his past life.
But this Long Snake was a stubborn bastard, shalessly pressing forward. It really had no face left to lose.
It took another full magazine of bullets.
Seeing that the Automatic Rifle failed to repel the Long Snake, which was drawing ever closer, Lu Yuan imdiately picked up the Rocket Launcher and aid it at the beast.
The Long Snake was now only a few dozen feet away—close enough to launch itself at Lu Yuan.
The Long Snake braced its tail against the ground and used the power of its caudal muscles to launch itself into the air.
In an instant, the Long Snake was airborne, right in front of Lu Yuan.
At that very mont, Lu Yuan seized the opportunity and fired the rocket.
(Let’s just call the projectile from the handheld Mortar a rocket for now.)
Lu Yuan felt the recoil from the rocket launch.
’This handheld Mortar is still a work in progress. The recoil is insane. Good thing I’m strong as hell, or it would’ve knocked flat on my back.’
Lu Yuan kept muttering to himself, completely unflustered.
The Long Snake leaped up, its maw gaping wide to swallow Lu Yuan.
The rocket struck the Long Snake squarely on the mouth.
Lu Yuan’s luck was just a little bit off, and the Long Snake’s was just a little bit better.
The rocket only exploded on contact with its mouth instead of flying into it.
If it had gone into its mouth and exploded in its belly, that would have been incredibly satisfying.
Lu Yuan would have been able to take down the Long Snake for sure.
Speaking of which, the last ti Lu Yuan had shot sothing into a "snake’s" mouth was in bed with Su Liyan, after her atavistic transformation.
Both were snake-like, so it was sowhat related, he supposed.
Of course, the things shot into the "snake" mouths on those two occasions were very different.
This Long Snake had nearly eaten a rocket.
The Long Snake was a Spiritual Object that had lived for several hundred years; what hadn’t it seen?
The only thing it hadn’t seen was the arsenal of gear in Lu Yuan’s hands.
The rocket blast sent the Long Snake flying, and it crashed hard onto the ground from the top of the waterfall.
Lu Yuan could see that the rocket had inflicted considerable damage on the Long Snake.
Down below the waterfall, the Long Snake writhed, its tail thrashing wildly against the surrounding grass and trees.
Sparks were even flying from its body; a layer of stiff bristles on its skin had been set on fire by the blast.
’Kick ’em while they’re down!’
Lu Yuan wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by.
He pulled out another rocket, loaded it into the handheld Mortar, aid at the Long Snake below, and fired again.
’You little shit. Let’s see if I can’t beat the hell out of you. If you hadn’t tried to steal my Snow Clam, you wouldn’t have provoked .’
The Long Snake was still writhing in agony from the explosion to its mouth.
It could feel another projectile, just like the last one, flying toward it.
The Long Snake ignored the pain and scrambled toward the pool.
At this point, it couldn’t care less about the realgar in the water.
Survival was all that mattered.
BOOM~
The exploding rocket kicked up a cloud of dust and dirt, blocking Lu Yuan’s view.
Now, Lu Yuan no longer relied on his eyes to track the Long Snake, but on his hearing.
Lu Yuan could sense the Long Snake’s position. It was still moving, getting closer to the pool. It seed its head had already entered the water.
There was no ti to reload the Mortar.
Lu Yuan was determined not to let the Long Snake escape into the pool again.
If it slipped away again, there was no telling when he’d be able to get it out.
An idea flashed through Lu Yuan’s mind.
’That’s right, I still have a few Thunder Bombs in my pants!’
Though the Thunder Bombs were small, their explosives were extrely potent, no less effective than the previous projectiles.
Lu Yuan spun around once, channeling all his strength into his right arm, and flung three Thunder Bombs.
’It all cos down to this.’
He had used almost everything he had prepared.
The Long Snake, hidden beneath the smoke and dust, had not yet fully slipped into the water when it was hit by three more blasts.
One of them exploded right above its head, knocking it completely unconscious.
After the dust settled...
Lu Yuan saw the snake’s head slumped in the water, while most of its body was still on the ground.
The Long Snake was completely still.
Wielding the Celestial Master Sword, Lu Yuan leaped down, aiming for the Long Snake’s vital spot.
This was his chance. With just one final step remaining, Lu Yuan couldn’t give up.
Whether the Long Snake was dead or not, he had to go in and land a final blow with his sword.
Aided by gravity, Lu Yuan plumted from above, gripping the Celestial Master Sword with both hands, its tip pointed downward.
