Hearing this, Daoist Yinli's expression turned very dark. He spat out coldly, “Had I known things would co to this, I should've killed you back then.”

Chen Chao was taken aback, then asked curiously, “Was I the one who fled in panic back then? Why can't I seem to rember?”

He was trying to hold in his laughter while talking.

Listening to their exchange from the side, Yu Xiyi was completely confused. He could not make heads or tails of the hidden anings between these two.

Daoist Yinli did not reply. Instead, daoist techniques began to circulate around his body. Strands of true qi from the daoist path encircled him. Though this display lacked the overwhelming grandeur of that earlier Daoist Qian Ji, the aura it exuded was far more refined and pure.

Whatever one might say about Daoist Yinli's temperant or conduct, there was no denying that he had been raised and cultivated in orthodox daoist techniques since childhood. He was genuinely a great daoist sage in every sense.

Chen Chao gripped the hilt of his saber and smiled. “I bet Sage can't wait to kill now, right?”

Daoist Yinli did not respond to that question. He only spat out two words:

“Lowborn wretch.”

Chen Chao remained unmoved. He simply looked at the Daoist Yinli standing before him and said calmly, “Go ahead. Let see if you, a lofty great daoist sage, truly have what it takes to kill .”

Daoist Yinli swept out his wide sleeves. Daoist aura surged from him, rising swiftly until it reached its peak in an instant. Mystical daoist energy flowed around him, forming one radiant river of daoist rhythm after another, shimring with five-colored light, slowly flowing, fully manifesting the presence and grandeur of a great daoist sage.

At that mont, he stood atop the city wall like a god gazing down upon the mortal world. Everything under heaven was beneath his feet, within his sight.

Yu Xiyi watched this scene and was incredibly annoyed. He scolded, “Damn it, what the hell are you putting on a show for?”

Although this sword immortal's first two strikes had failed to make much of an impact, the notion that he would yield to the Daoist Yinli before him was absolutely impossible.

As soon as he finished speaking, this hot-tempered sword immortal gripped the Wild Grass in his hand tightly, swept it across his chest, and sent out his third sword strike.

Between heaven and earth, a sword cry echoed.

Amid the darkness, it was as if a faint glimr of light had erged at that very mont.

Within the sword cry, if one listened closely, they could faintly make out a sense of vitality. Wild Grass, oh Wild Grass, so unremarkable among all plants, unloved, unnoticed - yet it possessed a tenacious will to live. Even when consud entirely by a wildfire, it would still sprout again co spring.

Inextinguishable vitality.

Yu Xiyi's life experience, in many ways, resembled that of wild grass.

Tornted by love, he had imprisoned himself in his own mind. He once thought he would never make another step forward in this lifeti. But who could have predicted that he, Yu Xiyi, would eventually see through it all, take that final step, reach the Nepenthe Realm, and beco a true sword immortal?

This sword strike, Yu Xiyi that put his full strength into it, pouring all his lifeti Sword Dao comprehension into this single blow.

And with the foundation laid by the previous two strikes, this third sword was on an entirely different level in terms of power.

The vast sword qi tore through the darkness like the first light of creation, hurtling straight toward Daoist Yinli.

The energies in front of Daoist Yu Xiyi entwined and coiled, finally rging into a multicolored barrier of radiant light, attempting to block Yu Xiyi's strike.

Though he had the ans to deal with the sword immortal before him, Daoist Yinli's attention remained entirely focused on Chen Chao.

This young martial artist, with his sches and calculations, was not to be underestimated.

Though it seed like he currently held the upper hand, if he was not careful, the final outco was still uncertain.

However, if he could subdue Chen Chao today, Daoist Yinli would not be too worried. He possessed a secret technique that could search through Chen Chao's mories. By then, he would know exactly how many people were aware of that matter and how much evidence there was, he could simply kill them all, one by one.

He would not reach the end of the road.

With that thought, Daoist Yinli felt a little more assured, only for the sword light to already slash toward him.

When the sword light struck the multicolored barrier, there was no thunderous crash, just a strange, tooth-gritting noise. Daoist Yinli turned abruptly and saw the barrier being torn apart, the sword light cutting straight through.

That overwhelming sword light had already reached the front of his daoist robes.

Daoist Yinli was sowhat dazed. He had not expected this sword immortal's strike to possess such might.

One must understand, even great sword immortals of this era, without so truly exceptional ability, could never pose any threat to him.

Daoist Yinli leaped away from the city wall, choosing to temporarily avoid the sharp edge.

But, that sword strike was like a force of nature, everything in its path was sliced cleanly apart.

Yu Xiyi's figure did not slow as he pursued Daoist Yinli. Despite his cultivation realm being a level lower, he grew more courageous with each clash, his fighting spirit surging to the heavens. The flying sword in his hand trembled uncontrollably with excitent.

The sword light did not cease, the sword qi flowed without end, and the sword intent blotted out the skies and covered the earth!

In the blink of an eye, the entire city wall was left in utter ruin.

Yu Xiyi was absorbed in the thrill of the battle, filled the space with countless intersecting sword lights that wove together endlessly. Even the sea of clouds overhead could no longer hold its form, torn apart stroke by stroke into long, ragged strips.

Daoist Yinli struck forward with his palm, releasing a daoist rune to intercept an incoming sword strike. The two forces clashed and held balance for only a brief mont before the sword light surged through, shattering the daoist rune entirely.

Yu Xiyi sneered coldly, and the flying sword in his hand burst forth with even greater sword qi.

As the undisputed number one among the disciples of this generation's Sword Sect, Yu Xiyi's Sword Dao cultivation had always been unmatched. But now that he had crossed the threshold of Nepenthe, he was no longer just a sword cultivator of the younger generation.

He was now a bona fide sword immortal, one who could truly contend with those who had long made a na for themselves.

If Yu Xiyi survived this battle, perhaps this young sword immortal would truly earn a place among the sword immortals of the world.

He would no longer be viewed as a junior.

Facing the dazzling storm of sword light before him, Daoist Yinli spotted a gap between the strikes and slamd a palm forward. Vast, surging daoist true qi burst from his palm. This was the culmination of countless years of cultivation, now fully unleashed.

A sharp sound rang out, like a mirror shattering. In that instant, the expanse of sword light crumbled apart.

Daoist Yinli followed with another palm strike, pressing down upon the remaining sword light and forcing it to retreat.

Yu Xiyi had just been charging ahead with unstoppable montum, and was now forced to withdraw his sword and block.

Only then did Daoist Yinli manage to turn the tide within a short span of ti, and shift from disadvantage to advantage.

Just as the montum of offense and defense had reversed, Daoist Yinli suddenly furrowed his brows.

A majestic saber beam ca crashing down from the heavens.

It was incredibly dazzling.

The young martial artist who had been biding his ti for an opening had finally made his move at this mont.

With both hands gripping his saber, he descended from the sky. As he fell, a terrifying saber beam ford and ca crashing down with imnse force. Daoist Yinli flicked his fingers in response, and a streak of flowing light shot from his fingertip, drawing a dazzling line that shattered the saber beam.

But even as the saber beam was shattered, Chen Chao continued his descent, swinging his saber straight at Daoist Yinli's head.

Daoist Yinli retreated slightly, allowing the saber to land about ten feet in front of him.
