"Security’s tighter than usual," Ivy said quietly, her eyes scanning their surroundings without turning her head.

Redy gave a small nod.

The sector they had entered was known as Gridlock.

The na wasn’t just for show. Layers of surveillance overlapped across every street, every structure, every movent. Patrol routes intersected with automated systems, creating a near-perfect net designed to catch anything out of place.

The final checkpoint slid shut behind them, sealing off the station as Ivy and Redy stepped into Gridlock proper. The transition had been smooth, just as expected, but neither of them relaxed. That alone said enough.

Their mission in Gridlock didn’t allow mistakes.

Redy moved at a steady pace beside Ivy, her expression unreadable, but her eyes were sharp. She had ways to bypass the system completely, to slip in unseen, but that wasn’t the goal today.

Being seen mattered.

Their mission wasn’t subtle. It wasn’t ant to be hidden. Trying to act invisible in a place like this would only draw more attention when they inevitably surfaced. Here, being docunted was the safer play.

As they cleared the station entrance, the shift in atmosphere hit imdiately.

Heads turned one after another, conversations dipping before rising again in hushed curiosity. Martial artists were naturally refined, their bodies shaped by essence and discipline, but Ivy and Redy stood out even among them.

They weren’t just attractive.

They were striking.

"Who are they?"

"New faces..."

"Models? Or so rising stars?"

Whispers followed them as they walked, eyes lingering longer than usual. Speculation spread quickly, but neither of them reacted. They had no ti to entertain attention.

Their focus stayed forward.

A sleek vehicle waited just beyond the main flow of traffic, parked with precision. A clean insignia stood out on a display panel mounted at the front.

Eden Group.

Redy angled toward it without hesitation.

The driver noticed imdiately. He stepped out the mont they approached, posture straight, movents practiced. His eyes flickered briefly between them before settling with recognition.

"Miss Eve."

He opened the door without another word.

Redy entered first, Ivy following smoothly behind her. The door shut with a soft click, cutting off the noise outside as the car rged seamlessly into Gridlock’s controlled traffic flow.

Inside, silence returned.

Through the tinted window, the sector revealed itself fully.

This wasn’t Tristan and the difference wasn’t subtle, it was overwhelming.

Buildings rose higher and every surface was maintained with near-perfect precision. Transit lines flowed without interruption, automated systems syncing with patrol units in a rhythm that felt almost chanical.

Even the air felt different.

"The essence density..." Ivy murmured, her eyes narrowing slightly as she focused inward.

It was heavier.

Although it was not suffocating, it was undeniably richer. Every breath carried more weight and energy. Compared to the mid-tier regions, the difference was massive.

It made sense.

The further north you went, the stronger everything beca. Infrastructure, technology, and most importantly, Essence.

Redy didn’t respond, but her gaze sharpened slightly. She felt it too. This environnt wasn’t just advantageous.

It was competitive.

The car continued forward, weaving through the layered routes of Gridlock without pause. Everything moved like it was part of a larger system.

Until finally, the vehicle slowed.

Then stopped.

"We’ve arrived."

The driver’s voice broke the silence as he stepped out, moving to open the door again.

Redy didn’t move imdiately.

Instead, she looked out the window.

A massive structure towered before them, its presence dominating the surrounding space. It had lean lines, reinforced glass and subtle defensive installations hidden within the design.

And at the top was a na.

DD Enterprises.

Ivy’s eyes narrowed slightly as she followed her gaze, the tension between them sharpening without a word.

They had reached their destination.

****

The engine cut off behind them as Ivy and Redy stepped out, the car already pulling away without waiting for a response. Neither of them looked back. Their attention was fixed forward, locked onto the towering structure ahead.

DD Enterprises.

Without a word, they moved.

The glass doors slid open the mont they approached, reacting instantly to their presence. As soon as they crossed the threshold, the outside noise vanished. The doors sealed behind them, replaced by a controlled, pressurized silence.

The shift was imdiate.

Cool air brushed against their skin, carrying a faint sterile edge. Ivy’s steps slowed just slightly, her gaze lifting as the full scale of the interior revealed itself.

This wasn’t just a building.

It was designed to dominate.

The lobby expanded into a massive atrium, tiered and layered with intent. Polished obsidian floors reflected the soft, embedded lighting above, creating a mirrored effect that made the space feel even deeper than it was.

Everything was calculated.

To their left, large canvases lined the walls, each one filled with dark, abstract landscapes. Storm-like textures twisted across their surfaces, thick layers of paint giving the illusion of movent, as if the images hadn’t fully settled.

Ivy’s eyes lingered for half a second.

Then she looked away.

Nothing here existed without purpose.

They moved deeper inside and the building revealed more of itself with every step. Elevated glass compartnts hovered above the main floor, suspended like observation pods. Blue-lit displays flickered constantly.

Water streams moved across transparent surfaces, casting faint reflections across the partitions. Groups ford around interactive tables, exchanging quiet words while manipulating shifting projections that hovered in midair.

The architecture itself was leading them.

Light gathered in specific paths, forming subtle corridors that seed as if it pulled their movent forward without force. The faint scent of ozone lingered in the air and their footsteps made almost no sound, absorbed completely by the flooring beneath them.

Ivy exhaled slowly, her senses adjusting as she walked. Every instinct told her the sa thing. This wasn’t just a corporate headquarters.

It was a controlled environnt.

A system.

And they had just stepped inside it.

Ahead, the central elevators ca into full view. Light pooled around them, brighter than anywhere else in the building, making them impossible to ignore.

Redy didn’t slow down.

Neither did Ivy as they both entered the elevator.
