"Can this device translate written text?"

Black Super grabbed the Kree soldier's arm, examining the wristband mounted there.

The defeated Kree warrior was only putting up a tough front verbally. Faced with the questions of this unknown figure, he answered honestly, "Through the universal translator, I can understand the writing of all civilizations in the universe."

That clearly wasn't the answer Black Super wanted.

"Then is there a reference table? A dictionary, maybe—Kree script compared with the writing of… what you call planet C-53?"

"Why would sothing like that be necessary?" the Kree asked, genuinely puzzled.

Alright, that was Black Super being too Earth-centric. For a highly advanced civilization, when a universal translator solved all communication problems, who would bother learning languages the old-fashioned way?

So he took a step back and asked instead, "Then how do I use this thing?"

As he spoke, he reached to strip the wristband off the Kree.

The Kree hurriedly protected his gear. "You can't use it. Only those with Kree blood can activate its functions."

Black Super was about to ask why Carol Danvers could use one—then rembered she'd had her blood replaced by the Kree. He dropped the issue.

After all, even future Earth smartphones had passwords, fingerprints, and facial recognition. Kree equipnt being restricted to its owner was hardly strange.

Rather than wasting ti trying to crack it, Black Super simply hoisted the still-living Kree and dragged him over to the rebooting mainfra screen, pointing at the text displayed on it.

"What does this line an?"

"What do you an, what does it an?"

Kree weren't cats or tigers—you couldn't grab them by the scruff of the neck. Black Super had him by the back of the neck directly. If he was going to lift him, he couldn't let go, so the pressure in his fingers couldn't be light.

At the sa ti, he couldn't strangle the Kree unconscious or kill him outright—much less snap his neck. Since Black Super didn't yet have a perfect grasp of Kree physiology, the poor fellow in his hand beca a test subject, Black Super loosening his grip right before actually choking him to death.

As a result, the Kree under his control was utterly terrified. Even his voice trembled with fear, just short of breaking into tears.

Seeing that his captive was on the verge of collapse, Black Super gave more direct instructions.

"Read all the text on the screen. Wherever my finger points, you read. Don't miss anything, don't get it wrong. I'll know."

He pointed at the screen with his free hand, prompting the Kree to read aloud.

Once one screen's content was finished, Black Super would enter another nu and have the Kree read the next screen.

Even though, through the universal translator, Black Super couldn't hear how the original Kree words were pronounced, with his super-brain assisting him, he rapidly began deciphering the Kree script.

Kree writing wasn't phonetic like the alphabetic systems used across much of Earth. Instead, it resembled Hangul: consonants and vowels arranged vertically, horizontally, diagonally, or in compound forms to create a single "character," with two or three characters forming a word.

The sa word could an one thing as a verb and sothing entirely different as a noun. So when understanding Kree, you couldn't isolate individual words—you had to rely on context, interpreting full sentences and even entire paragraphs.

Just like in Korean, where the written form of "ancient temple" and "farewell" can be identical—without context, it's impossible to tell which is ant. Kree worked the sa way.

Having a living reference to translate for him greatly accelerated Black Super's understanding. Aside from not knowing how to pronounce the words yet, he was already starting to grasp what was written on the screen.

Unfortunately, pleasant study sessions never lasted.

A throwing blade wreathed in high-energy heat shot in from the doorway!

So focused on decoding the script, Black Super almost let the captive in his hand take the blade for him. At the last critical mont, though, he flung the Kree aside and dodged the blade himself.

"I didn't know a little bug had snuck onto this cruiser," a voice said coldly. "Where did you crawl in from, you shady little thing?"

The newcor wasn't an ordinary Kree soldier—it was an elite warrior of the Starforce. That much was obvious from his equipnt alone, which was completely different from the standard-issue gear of the rank and file.

He was a tall, blue-skinned Kree with a thick, Viking-like beard. Compared to him, ordinary Kree looked like macaques standing next to a silverback gorilla. His sheer bulk made that abundantly clear.

He carried multiple weapons and tools of various types. Considering that many weapons stored their blades for safety, this man could be regarded as a kind of weapon master—sothing like a Predator.

Faced with such a visibly dangerous opponent, Black Super naturally stopped focusing on deciphering Kree text.

Under a yellow sun, Kryptonians could walk sideways through the DC Universe—but this was still the Marvel Universe. Krypton was a failed contender in cosmic power struggles here. Carelessness could get him killed.

Black Super pulled the telescopic baton from his belt and snapped it outward with a flick of his wrist. The arm-length baton was coated in matte black, matching his outfit perfectly.

His opponent, perhaps out of a warrior's sense of respect, didn't draw a firearm. Instead, he produced a similar baton-like weapon. Electricity crackled along its length, clearly indicating that getting hit by it would be far more than just painful.

"Don't you have a na, little bug?"

"Black Super."

"Bron-Char."

Nas exchanged, the battle began.

Bron-Char charged like a brown bear, his massive fra moving with startling speed. His baton ca down in a crushing overhead strike, like a war hamr—lethal even without the added energy discharge.

Black Super let the tip of the Kree's baton pass within a hair's breadth of his nose. At the sa ti, he used his own baton to strike the inside of Bron-Char's arm, then hooked the back of the knee in one smooth motion, throwing the Kree off balance and lifting him into the air.

The final strike ca imdiately after—a baton blow aid straight at Bron-Char's face, slamming him hard into the deck!

Three moves, seamless and fluid, executed in one breath. Bron-Char suffered a heavy loss in the very first exchange.

That said, he was indeed an elite Starforce warrior, and his physique was far superior to that of ordinary Kree.

Black Super had already adjusted his strength upward based on the earlier soldiers, but this combo, while not exactly a mosquito bite, was only enough to make Bron-Char shake his head and push himself back up for another round.

Black Super had no sense of martial honor, nor any desire to show respect to his opponent. He was simply gathering data on Kree physical capabilities, trying to develop more efficient and less energy-intensive tactics.

Using a cannon to kill mosquitoes felt great—but it was also stupid.

That said, this opponent clearly wasn't an ordinary Kree. Who knew if he possessed so kind of mutation or special ability? Unfortunately, Black Super didn't have the luxury of ti to find out.

When the first captive had activated his universal translator earlier, he'd also sent out a distress signal to his comrades. That was why Bron-Char had arrived so quickly.

And Bron-Char was only the first.

Black Super could sense more Kree converging on his position. There was no ti to indulge in so pointless "fight to your heart's content" fantasy.

Before Bron-Char could pull out another weapon, Black Super surged forward again. He wrapped the baton around Bron-Char's arm, locked it in place, and then drove the massive Kree straight into the bulkhead!

The impact smashed through the thinner section of the wall. The hulking Kree crashed through and ended up half-embedded in it, dazed, blue blood streaming down his forehead.

Under the gaze of the Kree prisoner who'd been thrown aside, Black Super—fresh off a decisive victory—turned and ran.
