Kakashi Hatake one again found himself sitting cross-legged on a cushion, as he sipped ta from a delicate cup. He waited for Ancient One to break the silence.
The Ancient One set her tea down, her ageless eyes studying him with a gentle curiosity. "Are you enjoying your ti here, Mr. Kakashi?" she asked, breaking the silence, her voice warm but probing.
Kakashi's right eye crinkled in a faint smile, his tone light but honest. "Yes. The spars help loosen my muscles. Back in my world, going six months without a fight for was unheard of. You could say combat's a habit.for . Thanks to your sorcerers, I've got opponents who can match … to a degree."
'Guy would duel every other day he saw . And well it was fun to duel with soone who could keep with .' Kakashi internally thought
The Ancient One tilted her head, her smile deepening. "You seem quite bored, though."
Kakashi chuckled, the sound muffled by his mask. "Caught . The spars and fuinjutsu studies are good, but staying in one place, doing… well, almost nothing? It's unnatural for ."
He leaned back, his posture relaxed but his mind sharp. 'I'm a shinobi. Sitting still feels like waiting for an ambush.'
The Ancient One's eyes glead with understanding. "If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Kakashi, you were looking to contact the Hand because you wanted rcenary missions."
Kakashi nodded, unsurprised by her knowledge. She's been watching him since he arrived in this world. The thought was unsettling, but he'd grown accustod to it.
"Yeah," he said, his tone dry. "Figured they'd have work for soone like . Didn't go as planned." He recalled the Hell's Kitchen alley, the Hand's red-garbed shinobi attacking without a word, their bodies falling under his kunao. 'Not my best recruitnt pitch.'
The Ancient One's lips twitched, a rare spark of amusent. "Why don't you take missions from us? With your skills, you could handle the supernatural threats we face—demons, vampires, evil spirits, or retrieving artifacts. Your chakra mastery and shinobi arts would be invaluable."
Kakashi's eye narrowed, considering the offer. 'Supernatural threats?'
Demons was nothing new to him. He had faced demons before even in his world in the Land Of Demons.
Vampires were new, but he'd fought Akatsuki, tailed beasts, and Kaguya.
'How different can they be?'
The promise of action stirred his blood, a chance to channel his restless energy. "What's the pay?" he asked, his tone half-joking, half-serious.
The Ancient One smiled, unfazed. "You'll be compensated in coin, of course, but if you make significant contributions, you may choose an artifact from our hall."
She gestured vaguely, as if the offer were a treasure trove. "So are quite powerful, suited even for a shinobi like you."
Kakashi shrugged, his eye crinkling. "Not big on trinkets, but I'll take the missions."
Artifacts didn't interest him—his tanto and Sharingan were enough—but the prospect of fieldwork, of testing his skills against this world's unknowns, was irresistible.
"Excellent," the Ancient One said, her voice warm with approval. "And, if you wish, you may leave Kamar-Taj in eighteen months. By then, your fuinjutsu studies should be completed, and you'll have mastered much of what our library offers. I can introduce you to reputable rcenary handlers—far better than the Hand."
She chuckled, a soft, lodic sound. "It was quite amusing, you know, watching you try to join them only to… well, slaughter their squad."
Kakashi scratched the back of his head, a flush of embarrassnt hidden beneath his mask. "Yeah, not my finest mont," he muttered, his tone sheepish. 'I thought I could talk my way in. Should've known better that I am not Naruto.'
The Ancient One rose, her robes rustling softly. "I'll arrange your first mission soon, Kakashi-san. For now, continue your studies. You're finding your place here, whether you realize it or not."
Kakashi nodded, bowed and left.
The Ancient One looked at him leave as her hand brushed the Eye of Agamotto, its green hue flaring briefly.
Her voice dropped to a murmur, almost to herself. "Who would have thought an angry tantrum by Dormammu would lead to a brighter future in most tilines?"
The tilines of the world have changed since Kakashi arrived in this world. She could not predict his coming to this world since the Ti stone only accounted for what is inside the multiverse and Kakashi was from outside it.
But once he entered the multiverse, the tiline adjusted itself. There was a reason Ancient One brought Kakashi to Kamar Taj and wanted him to stay for 18 months because she knew if he left early, in most of the tilines, there are two less heroes in the Avengers.
She couldn't let this happen as those two people would play a huge part in the safety of both Earth and the multiverse for tis to co.
'Those eyes of his though, the Sharingan. In his world, his eyes would have been said to be completed it's transformation. But I know that there is more potential in them. If he unlocks their true potential, he might be very useful for Strange when he takes over for as the Sorcerer Supre.' Ancient One thought
