The sign-in rewards from his system were randomized; the probability of signing in for specific magical knowledge was unpredictable.
The best approach was to find soone and learn the magic of this universe directly—understand it in depth.
With sufficient understanding, once he mastered magic, if he encountered phisto again, escaping so easily would no longer be an option.
The soul of a demon lord—even just a fragnt of it—would already be an enormous gain.
It might even directly unlock the highest-tier Devil Fruits in the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia.
On Earth, setting aside soone like Agatha, that old witch, Kamar-Taj was the best choice for learning magic.
Kamar-Taj possessed a highly developed magical system and was one of the origins of white magic among Earth's sorcerers.
Those spells were both simple and practical.
For example, Mirror Dinsion—it could easily create a magical dinsion independent of reality, where combat was no longer bound by physical laws.
If soone were trapped inside, as long as the spell wasn't dispelled, they would never escape.
Then there was Sling Ring teleportation—an outright "bug-level" ability that even apprentice sorcerers could learn.
Not only was it easy to pick up, its applications were overwhelmingly powerful.
It allowed instant portals for long-distance movent, surprise attacks, or retreats—useful in nearly any situation, making it a strategic-level ability.
Its range could extend across the universe, even opening gateways to other dinsions.
There were also techniques like the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, astral projection, intangibility and banishnt, mory magic, large-scale magical detection—
It was a comprehensive system.
However, this magical system had a drawback.
For sorcerers to use magic, they needed to draw magical energy from the dinsion of the Vishanti. Because sorcerers themselves did not possess inherent magical energy.
In essence, this was more like borrowing power—not a free gift.
It was a sacred contractual "loan" from the trinity known as the Vishanti.
And it was a lifelong contract.
An oath of allegiance—to swear to protect Earth's dinsion, never to abuse white magic for evil, slaughter, or soul corruption.
Absolute obedience to the will and judgnt of the Vishanti.
That allegiance also ca with obligations: when called upon, one must imdiately respond—fighting in interdinsional wars and resisting darkness.
Furthermore, one's soul would beco deeply bound to the Vishanti's dinsion. After death, it would not pass into the underworld, but instead fall under their control.
All the knowledge, research, and wisdom accumulated in life would ultimately return to the Vishanti's domain.
If the contract were broken, the Vishanti would imdiately cut off the supply of magical energy—reducing the violator to an ordinary person, reclaiming their magic, and ultimately causing backlash that beca a permanent curse.
To borrow the power of a dinsion, one had to repay it with life, loyalty, and freedom.
The Vishanti were benevolent creditors—but the contract was always absolute.
There was only one exception.
The current Sorcerer Supre—the Ancient One.
She was the only sorcerer who had long drawn upon the Vishanti's magic without being bound by their contract.
Because she had found a greater backer—Eternity, one of the five Abstract Entities.
After stepping down as Sorcerer Supre, she traveled the multiverse in search of even greater magical knowledge.
Even Doctor Strange—Stephen Strange, whom she once described as the most powerful Sorcerer Supre in history—had not achieved this.
Strange had once attempted to abandon borrowing power, instead using cosmic energy, Gaia energy, and his own psychic abilities—but in the end, he returned to the Vishanti.
It could only be said that the Ancient One was on another level entirely.
As for this magical system, Matthew had no intention of joining it.
But that didn't an he couldn't learn from it.
For sorcerers, using magic required two fundantal things: accumulated magical knowledge gained through constant training, and magical energy.
Both were indispensable.
Ordinary sorcerers lacked the latter—but Matthew did not.
The Glint-Glint Fruit itself was an enormous source of energy.
This point was clearly demonstrated through Doctor Strange—whom the Vishanti required to represent them in interdinsional magical wars against dark forces.
However, Doctor Strange chose to refuse.
Because he believed that such a war would sacrifice countless innocents, pollute Earth's magical ecosystem, and that sorcerers should not act as tools for higher beings.
In the end, the Vishanti severed their connection to him and stripped him of the title of Sorcerer Supre.
Strange then turned to other sources of energy and was still able to continue using magic.
So energy itself wasn't a fixed requirent. As long as one had sufficient power, and enough knowledge and mastery of magic, it could still be used.
Kamar-Taj…
Matthew's eyes flickered slightly.
...
Night fell quickly.
The next day arrived, and light snow was still drifting from the sky.
The soldiers had already risen early and begun their training.
The loud, rhythmic chants soon woke Needy from her sleep.
On the bed, she opened her eyes, sat up, and leaned against the headboard, letting out a yawn.
Turning her head, she looked out the window and saw soldiers in neat formation running in the distance, carrying heavy packs.
"Wow, so many handso older guys."
"Jennifer…"
Faced with her sister fangirling early in the morning, Needy could only feel helpless.
"Needy, I'm a little worried about your future. Even though you've beco beautiful, you still lack an eye for appreciation. Learning to observe and admire beauty makes both body and mind more fulfilled."
"Yeah, yeah, you're totally right. But right now I just want a stable life—and those guys are almost thirty."
Jennifer went on enthusiastically, sharing her "life philosophy," while Needy rolled her eyes and brushed it off. She got out of bed and changed into fresh clothes.
"No, Needy. That age is when a man is at his peak. They're mature, steady, and know how to take care of people."
"I rember you liking younger guys more."
"They're just passing scenery along the road of life. There's plenty of scenery—we just need to take our ti appreciating it."
"What kind of values are those?"
Still bickering, Needy opened the door and walked out.
Breakfast had already been set on the dining table in the living room. Karla sat there, flipping through docunts. Hearing the movent, she looked up at Needy.
"Good morning, Needy."
"Good morning, Ms. Karla."
"Just call Karla, Needy. Co on, breakfast is ready."
The two greeted each other as Needy walked over and sat across from her. She glanced around before asking quietly, "Is Boss still asleep?"
"Boss left about an hour ago."
"I see…"
Needy looked a little disappointed. Her feelings toward Matthew were complicated.
It wasn't love—more like gratitude, mixed with a sense of reliance.
At her most desperate mont in Devil's Kettle, it had been Matthew who saved her and her family. And during their escape, it was his presence that gave her a sense of stability and safety.
"Go on, eat. You'll have a lot to do next."
Karla smiled lightly, not exposing the young girl's thoughts. Having passed thirty herself, she saw such things quite clearly.
