He hoped to have a descendant who inherited his Celestial genes. The two of them would work together to activate the Celestial seeds on those marked life planets, transforming each world into him.
That would be eternity.

He experienced disappointnt after disappointnt. His descendants were as foolish and fragile as ordinary life forms. So he ruthlessly executed them, their remains casually piled underground.
The pain of being unable to achieve his goal forced him to find Mantis and, with her empathy-modifying ability, help him alleviate this anxious pain and fall asleep.
At this very mont, he searched and saw a dead star.
