00224. The Phoenix wakes up?

Just a heads up, from August 1-12 I will be on vacation so I won't post any chapters... That said, I will most likely post a chapter the day I leave and the day I get back. I just wanted to give everyone a warning ahead of ti.

Theo stood next to his clone that was currently acting as Ezekiel and Tsunade who called him over. In front of them floating above the hospital bed was Jean, she was wrapped in what looked like fire. It danced and pulsed around her but nothing was burning and Theo couldn't feel any heat coming from her. He watched her for a few more monts before he said, “Fuck this shit, I don't wanna deal with it.”

Theo turned around and walked out of the room followed by his clone and Tsunade who asked, “You're not just gonna leave her here are you?”

“No… But I definitely don't wanna deal with this myself.” Theo said as he clone nodded in understanding.

They walked back to the room he was supposed to be in before he climbed back into the hospital bed and asked, “How long did you tell my family it would take?”

Tsunade glanced at the clock before she said, “Another half an hour or so.”

Theo nodded as he pulled his phone out of the storage seal hidden on his arm before it started going off with notification. Theo glanced at them for a mont before he frowned slightly and said, “Great… Apparently Xavier and Magneto noticed Jean.”

Theo responded to both of them with a short ssage that said, ‘It's already being handled, don't worry about it.’

Within monts both of them called him and with a reluctant sign he answered them both in a group call. Xavier spoke first as he said, “Ezekiel, that mut… tahuman is incredibly powerful, it would be best if you let help them.”

Theo almost scoffed at that but Magneto responded first as he said, “Don't be ridiculous, soone that powerful would be better under my care.”

Theo pinched the bridge of his nose as Xavier and Magneto instantly started to argue with each other over who would be a better teacher for the new tahuman. After a minute or so Theo said in his Ezekiel voice, “I swear, you sound like a married couple…”

“We do not!” Both of them said at the sa ti before they finally stopped talking.

Theo shook his head as he said, “Are you sure? Because you guys sound almost perfect for each other being so in sync... Maybe I should clone a female body for one of you, who wants it? Or should I just surprise you and pick myself?”

“Absolutely not!” Both of them said at the sa ti again.

Theo smirked slightly as he said, “Are you sure?”

“Yes!”

Theo shook his head slightly as Xavier cleared his throat before he said, “About that new…”

“She won't be helped by either of you because you'll both fuck it up. She might be a tahuman, but she is also the avatar for a cosmic entity.”

“Cosmic entity?” Both n asked at the sa ti.

Theo shook his head slightly at how they were both in sync before he said, “You can think of it as sothing like a god but not exactly, which is why neither of you are qualified to help their avatar.”

Theo waited for them to respond for a few monts before he said, “If you're both done, I have more pressing matters I need to deal with.”

Theo quickly hung up the phone before he called Tao, when she picked up the phone he said, “The avatar of the phoenix force seems to be awakening.”

“I felt the initial power burst… Do you know where they are?”

“The dical facility… My family is also here.” Theo said with a slight frown.

“I'll be there in a few minutes.” Tao said before she hung up the phone.

Theo glanced at his phone and checked a few more things before he sealed it away. About a minute later Tao and Agatha entered his room before Tao asked, “What happened? Why is your family out in the waiting area?”

“My little sister was almost killed by a car that lost one of its front wheels… I'll need to check, but I think it was because of Jean and the phoenix force.” Theo said with a frown.

Tao and Agatha shared a look before Tao asked, “Where is… Jean at?”

“Next room over, you can go check on her and tell what you think.”

Tao nodded before she said, “Alright, we'll be back in a few.”

After they left, Theo relaxed into the bed before he said, “I feel like this is gonna be a massive headache.”

His clone smirked slightly before it said, “Yup, sucks to be you.”

“You know you're also …”

The clone shook its head and stuck out its tongue before it said, “Nope, I'm just a temporary existence with your mories. Once I dispel, you'll still have to deal with everything.”

Theo decided not to entertain his clone anymore as he let out a sigh. While Theo relaxed on the bed Tsunade pulled out a duffel bag before she tossed it onto Theo as she said, “Fill it up.”

Theo glanced at the bag and then at Tsunade as he asked, “You're out of money already?”

Tsunade clicked her tongue before she said in a frustrated tone, “It was those stupid slot machines you made, the ones you can level up your character and go on adventures…”

Theo stared at Tsunade in absolute shock as his brain froze. After a few monts he asked, “How did you even lose money on those things?”

“It's a slot machine, they're designed to take people's money.” Tsunade said with a huff as she glanced to the side.

“For a normal slot machine you'd be correct. But I designed and coded those machines to be skill based…” Theo said with a frown before he added, “Besides, the ga has a limit on how much it can make off a player and it's capped at five percent. No matter how bad your luck is, you should have only lost five percent of whatever you put into the machine. It's designed to let you win if you go past that five percent amount.”

Tsunade turned to look at Theo with widened eyes and asked, “Then how co it stole over a million dollars from ?!?”

Theo pulled out his tablet and opened up the program that monitored the casino in Genosha as he said, “I have no clue… Unless your luck sohow changed the programming on the machine.”

It didn't take Theo long to find the machine in question, since it was the only one to make a large amount of money. He quickly checked out its logs and found nothing wrong so he looked over the payout data. The only issue he found was a one hour period where it kept collecting money but almost never paid out. Theo's eyes started to twitch as he turned to Tsunade and asked, “How the hell did you gamble away a million dollars in an hour?”

“The stupid machine kept taunting and never let win, so I spamd the max bet button to prove it wrong.”

Theo stares at Tsunade in disbelief for a few monts before he shook his head and said, “It's just a program, there's no way it was taunting you.”

“Yes it was! Every ti that stupid boss beat it would laugh and say sothing like, “you're pathetic or try again weakling.”

“The dragon boss doesn't say anything like that…” Theo said as he thought about what could be going on with that specific machine before Tsunade said, “Dragon? I was fighting the goblin boss.”

Theo's head slowly turned towards Tsunade before he asked in a confused tone, “You… You lost a million dollars fighting the goblin boss?”

Tsunade crossed her arms under her chest and nodded with a frown on her face before she said, “That guy was way too tough, no matter how many tis I tried, I just couldn't beat him.”

“If you played far enough to get to the starter boss, you should have had everything you needed to beat it. The ga literally walks you through the base chanics till you get to the boss.”

“Base chanics… You an the spells I could use? I just spamd my strength attack each ti.” Tsunade said after she thought about how she played the ga.

Theo, lost for words, stared at Tsunade with wide eyed amazent for a few monts before his clone said, “I thought she was just unlucky, but it turns out she's just retarded all along.”

Tsunade's fist whipped out and the clone disappeared in a puff of smoke before she turned her narrowed eyes on Theo and asked, “So you think I'm retarded, huh?”

Theo quickly shook his head as he said, “The clone said it, not …”

Tsunade stepped closer to Theo as she cracked her knuckles and said, “But your clones think the sa way you do.”

Theo started pulling money out of his storage seal and stuffed it into the duffel bag Tsunade gave him as he said, “You know as well as I do that after ten or so clones, they start to beco a little unstable and have weird quirks… That one was definitely one of those clones.”

Theo finished loading the duffle bag and tossed it to Tsunade as he said, “There, your paynt and a little extra… But next ti, don't play those slot machines if you aren't going to pay attention to the tutorial…”

As Tsunade caught the bag, Tao and Agatha stepped back into the room before Tao said, “We checked her over and it looks like her powers are awakening.”

“She isn't going to blow up the facility or anything, is she?” Theo asked with a hint of caution.

Tao shook her head gently with a smile before she said, “No, this is just the awakening phase. As far as I can tell, the phoenix force is in the process of helping her unlock her dormant tahuman powers.”

Agatha nodded in agreent before she added, “The powers from the phoenix force will only be a tiny seed with almost limitless potential once she awakens. But she will need to be trained properly on how to harness it and make it grow, while also training her personal powers.”

Theo nodded slightly before he asked, “Who's going to teach her?”

“We both will.” Tao said as she shared a glance with Agatha who nodded in agreent.

Theo stood up from the hospital bed and created a new shadow clone that instantly transford into Ezekiel before he asked, “Do you know how long it will take before she awakens?”

“A couple hours or more.”

Theo glanced towards the clock on the wall before he said, “Well in that case I'll leave you two to handle it. I should probably go out and greet my family and let them see that I'm safe.”

“You should have just shown off your powers.” Tao said with a hint of disappointnt in her voice.

Theo shrugged as he said, “I will, but not yet… I'm really not ready for that conversation.”

Theo glanced at his clone as he said, “After you send us back, help Tao locate Jean's parents so they can talk and get things sorted out.”

The clone nodded before Tsunade said, “Send to Genosha too, I'm feeling lucky.”

Ezekiel shared a glance with Theo who helplessly shrugged as he said, “I don't care.”

After that Theo was walked out of the back area by his clone and Tsunade to the waiting room area. His family was seated together while his parents reassured his siblings that he would be fine. Milly was the first to notice Theo and bolted from her chair as she yelled in excitent, “Te-o!”

The rest of his family quickly followed as Milly slamd into him like a rocket, her eyes still red and puffy from crying. Theo gently hugged her back as he asked, “Hey, hey, what's with that face? Why was my cute little sister crying?”

Milly's eyes that were slightly misted over glanced up at Theo as she said, “You were hurt because of .”

Jacob's hand gently rubbed the top of Milly's head as he said, “We already told you it wasn't your fault, so stop trying to bla yourself sweetie.”

Milly was about to say sothing when Theo hugged her a little tighter and said, “Dad's right, we were both right next to each other and both of us would be hit no matter what happened…”

Theo pushed Milly away slightly before he looked her in the eyes and asked, “Besides, what did I tell you right after it happened?”

“You asked if I was okay…”

Theo smirked slightly as he said, “After that.”

Milly scrunched up her face for a mont in thought before she asked, “It's just a flesh wound?”

Jacob burst out laughing before he asked, “You really quoted Monty Python after getting hit by a car?”

Theo smiled at his dad as he said, “It seed appropriate.”

Daniel's voice wasn't quite angry but she definitely didn't sound happy as she asked, “And when did Theo watch Monty Python?”

Jacob's eyes widened slightly as he shared a look with Theo before he said, “Ummm, I'm not sure…”
