On top of everything else, Drex Valen had also developed effective treatnts for AIDS and cancer.
At that point, calling him a genius barely covered it.
Umbrella Corporation's financial scale exceeded OsCorp by hundreds of tis over. The two companies were not even remotely comparable anymore.
In many ways, Umbrella had already beco a superpower equal to a sovereign nation.
Especially considering they openly possessed strategic-class weapons like New Elent warheads.
A corporation selling weapons comparable to nukes.
The idea still sounded insane.
Still…
It was worth trying.
Harry made up his mind to talk to his father once he got ho.
…
"Director, we've detected abnormal energy readings in the central Pacific."
Maria Hill pushed through the office doors carrying a mountain of files.
"Three hours ago, satellite systems picked up massive tidal disturbances. Two cruise ships traveling from Japan toward Hawaii have lost contact completely."
"There's also unidentified electromagnetic interference affecting nearby Hawaiian regions. The Navy has already dispatched two submarines to investigate."
Nick Fury turned toward her silently as Hill continued reporting at rapid-fire speed.
"At the mont, we don't have enough evidence to confirm whether this is a large-scale disaster event or simply piracy. But if it's the forr, we have a serious problem."
"Honestly, even if it's piracy, it's still a serious problem."
She took a breath.
"To avoid international complications, we should contact the Security Council imdiately and conduct a deeper investigation."
"Do we deploy superheroes, Decepticon units, or activate the new Helicarrier for covert reconnaissance?"
"What do the scans show?"
Recent technological breakthroughs had given Fury more confidence than before.
The leftover alien equipnt from the Battle of Manhattan had dramatically accelerated reverse-engineering efforts. Even S.W.O.R.D.'s current instrunts were generations beyond what humanity had previously possessed.
Fury dragged a hand across the holographic screen.
A field of energy data expanded before him.
Then his expression stiffened slightly.
The wavelength patterns looked disturbingly familiar.
Too familiar.
They resembled the fluctuations produced by the Tesseract.
"Where's Agent Romanoff?" Fury asked calmly.
His face barely changed, though with his complexion, it was difficult to notice subtle shifts anyway.
"She's currently conducting an intelligence operation."
"Tell her to wrap it up imdiately. Dispatch a Quinjet to her location and transfer her to India."
Hill nodded.
"Agent Romanoff will understand the situation once she arrives. Just tell her this incident resembles the Manhattan invasion."
Fury's gaze hardened.
"But this ti, the enemy may not be extraterrestrial."
"It may be coming from the deep sea."
Rumors about underwater civilizations had existed for over a century.
And by now, so of them had already been confird.
Atlantis alone proved advanced oceanic civilizations existed, especially after the Deep Sea Clan had forced the Atlanteans onto the surface near Wakanda.
The underground world was much the sa.
Just because humanity had not explored it fully did not an it was empty.
First Asgard.
Then Raditz.
Then the Chitauri.
At this point, Fury would not even blink if Earth suddenly turned out to contain hidden races, monsters, or entire civilizations buried beneath reality itself.
For a long ti, he had solved problems through experience, manipulation, and sheer paranoia.
But supernatural disasters and cosmic invasions had gradually rendered those thods obsolete.
And if this new anomaly turned out to be another dinsional gateway…
Fury genuinely felt like smashing his head into a wall.
"Prepare the new Helicarrier," he ordered.
"Gather the superheroes and Agent Romanoff. We're heading to Hawaii."
"Understood!"
…
Most superheroes reacted to the ergency summons with tired familiarity.
Honestly, why did aliens seem so obsessed with Earth?
They already spent enough ti dealing with monsters.
Now the universe apparently wanted a turn too.
"Abnormal energy fluctuations have been detected in the central Pacific near Hawaii," the briefing continued.
"Initial data resembles the energy signatures produced by interdinsional gateways."
"Worst-case scenario: hostile deep-sea entities are preparing a surface invasion."
Tony Stark stared at the report in confusion.
"Wait. Didn't we already wipe out the Deep Sea Clan?"
He imdiately activated Stark satellites and redirected them toward the Pacific.
A mont later, the live footage appeared.
Tony's expression changed.
"Well… that's definitely a problem."
On-screen, the ocean churned violently.
Towering tidal waves rolled outward in every direction while a massive whirlpool ford near the epicenter.
Several damaged warships drifted helplessly nearby.
JARVIS zood in helpfully.
Two submarines, caught in the violent currents, slamd into each other head-on.
But that was only the beginning.
Another colossal wave exploded upward.
Then sothing erged from beneath the sea.
The creature's body was dark gray, vaguely reptilian, almost dinosaur-like in appearance.
Its axe-shaped skull smashed directly into a cruiser before the monster vanished beneath the ocean again.
Elsewhere across the sa stretch of water, another beast surfaced.
This one possessed a blade-like head that carved straight through a submarine rising toward the surface.
"My God," one arriving superhero muttered.
"Kaiju are real now?"
Even Drex paused when he saw the monsters.
This definitely was not his doing.
Then again…
Did Marvel even have creatures like this?
Or had the tiline gone completely insane?
To be fair, Drex knew Marvel technically possessed its own Monster Universe continuity, complete with things like Godzilla.
But these particular creatures?
He had absolutely no idea what they were.
What he also did not know…
Was that this was Thanos's revenge.
"The deep sea remains unexplored territory," a S.W.O.R.D. analyst explained during the ergency briefing.
"Much like the underground world."
"There are no major trenches near the central Pacific zone close to Hawaii. Creatures of this size would require impossible amounts of food and territory. There's no logical way they could have remained hidden until now."
The analyst pointed toward the energy data.
"Combined with the dinsional signatures we detected earlier, our current theory is that a portal exists beneath the ocean."
"A portal specifically transporting these monsters."
"In other words…"
"This is another extraterrestrial invasion."
That conclusion imdiately drew the attention of every major world governnt.
Because unlike previous invasions…
This battlefield was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
aning this ti, the world could respond without restraint.
