"If the chira cores have been living like this for years, then why haven’t they beco a larger problem?" Su looked at Walker expecting a bit more of an answer then a shrug from him.
"I didn’t co here intending to kill them, mostly to see if they would be a major danger. They could have been sealed sowhere like those ants, or they could have been dormant because of the lack of mana. I need to get several appraisals of them to see if they are even the sa monsters as they used to be in ancient tis."
Su understood what Walker was getting at. If this chira core monster had evolved to survive and changed to fit the environnt better, then they might not be as dangerous in the sa ways.
If the chira cores devolved and could not take on more traits from multiple monsters only copying one, then they would basically just infiltrate and beco part of that monster species until they died and left behind their offspring. From there the cycle would start over causing there to be a constant cycle of the sa species being partly made up of chira core monsters instead of the species they hid in.
A herd could be half and half until the chira core offspring eventually took over the whole herd causing them to need to move to another herd or generally die out in that area. Odds were it might just go dormant. That was to be determined though.
"Get an appraisal!" Midnight hopped around excitedly since she wanted to know if they were going to try and fight a new monster. She also found the steam bulls to be very interesting.
To her, it looked like several of the dark crimson furred bulls were breathing steam like a dragon would breathe fire. It felt like just being around them would be dangerous so fighting them might be interesting if she was in her dragonkin form and wanted to train more in that form.
’Steam bull
This is a descendant of the raging gold bull, an ancient monster known for using its internal fire mana to break down stones filled with gold. The gold would then be spit on its body to create a fur that was tougher and better to conduct its internal heat. However, as its affinities changed and the species grew, it beca more natural to use water to cool its body internally and also as a deterrent for so predators.
Its fur is deep crimson because of the high amount of blood flow to keep itself cool, aning that even cutting its hair will cause a small amount of blood to bleed out. However, its four horns are the truly dangerous parts of its body.
It can release potent steam from the tips of its horn due to the unique ways that it grows. Because of this, when fighting it will charge at sothing while spewing steam from its mouth and its horns. This makes it much harder to see the weak points of its body around its neck and leg joints.
Its at is extrely tough but surprisingly will beco softer once cooled. It is one of the only monsters that will be consud by predators after sitting and cooling off for a few hours. aning that it is often surrounded by multitype when hunted causing a small fight later amongst predators.
While it mostly only eats burnable materials like grasses and small twigs, it will also consu stones that can burn like coal and sulfur. However, when it does it often needs to consu much more water to properly cool its organs and bones...’
The information was very important for the tars who would wish to ta monsters like this. Especially when it ca to the fact that it was about the steam bull’s diet and habits. But more so because it gave information about their weak points that would need to be kept in mind when fighting them or teaching them to work with a tar or another tad monster.
"There’s one with six eyes on its head and two on its neck." Su spotted the odd looking steam bull, the crimson fur was even a brighter color than the deeper and more rustic color of the others without multiple eyes on its body.
’Chira core
This monster has survived many years to exist in today’s age. While different from the ancient chira cores, they function mostly the sa.
Over generations it has developed tentacles around its rounded body to better move around and get itself in to different monster nests. Because of this it can consu eggs of other monsters or the young of other monsters and take on a base from copying them to survive.
Unlike the ancient chira core monster species that would hunt multiple forms of monster to build better bodies, this species of chira core struggled with the new instincts from the monsters it consus. Due to this, it often loses its natural instincts to consu and build a stronger body. There are many instances of it living out its life pretending to be the first monster it consus.
This is not saying that others do not consu multiple species of monster to create a horrific hybrid body. When that occurs the materials from the body are often extrely valuable or unique in their form. aning that they have uses that no one else could find or achieve unless specifically raised in a specific way, which is considered impossible as of today.
Compared to the ancient forms of the chira core, the current day and age chira core can take on traits from up to fifteen monsters, however, they are often not intelligent enough to manage a body consisting of potentially clashing body parts and traits. Due to this, those that attempt to keep growing often cause themselves to perish after loading on too much physical and ntal stress.
It is possible for a chira core to integrate an intelligent species, in these extrely rare cases, it is possible for the chira core to display intelligence and emotions that it does not in other situations. Due to this, many ancient people believed that the chira core was a failed experint by gods or even more ancient beings to create a race that served them...’
The sheer amount of information was enough to make Walker’s head ache for a brief mont. He wondered if it was simply too much history in this long lived monster or the fact that it has so much versatility in its potential. Walker could tell that there was a lot of potential.
"They are both very dangerous and not at all depending on each one individually then. I believe we will need to have scouts and trackers pay attention to them as they go on." Su let out a long sigh as she realized that there would be cases of chira core monsters being nothing more than exactly the first monster they integrated in to becoming their body. However, the exact opposite where it could be an extre threat might also appear.
"I feel more at ease knowing that if they consu a mber of an intelligent race that they will struggle to grow any longer because they will beco more intelligent and be afflicted by emotions. That ans they are severely separated from monster to an intelligent race." Since Su knew this, it ant that the events of them becoming more intelligent was lower and lower of a risk.
" I think we should take in to account that they are also a way for us to understand the difference in monster and intelligent races. There are emotions and understanding them. If these chira cores consu an intelligent race then struggle with the developed emotions leading to their death or the halting of them growing, then it ans that emotions are the key. Other monsters that develop them eventually beco intelligent races. It’s a theory for the growth of a species."
Both Midnight and Su were looking at Walker and understood that this one species of monster from ancient tis, however potentially dangerous, could be the best monster to study. Could be the best monster to look at and decide how an intelligent race might have been born.
It could also be a way for unique materials beyond what others understood to be created. However, there was the clear fact that people could not breed them right now. It was beyond what people were capable of at the mont.
Not that this would be the fact for the future. So people would have to change that as they beco smarter and more specified in their classes. Ti would tell.
"We should keep watch for a while. I also want to see the predators hunting these steam bulls and if those predators will catch one of the three chira cores in that herd of fifty."
