Walker saw the continent whale nearing even close to the gargantuan squid. Both races had sizes that could be called too much to handle. They were able to grow even larger too. For the continent whale, it was still young. The gargantuan squid was barely an adult heading towards becoming a proper elder.
They knew all too well that their size was grander than others and that they held a unique place in the ecosystem of the water elental planes. They consud a lot. They needed a lot of water mana. They worked through various pets of the elental planes to grow as such. Yet, they were still not what they could be.
The fact that they had not realized they as two races had been holding one another back because of their natural instincts proved to them that they might not really be the intelligent races that they believed themselves to be.
When most races beca races, they would forget so instincts. They would move beyond them. This was because they would realize so to be foolish or to be false.
This was seen in the fear of the dark by humans. They used to fear it because of unseen predators. Now that fear remained as a reminder, but was not crippling as it used to be before they beca intelligent enough to beco stronger or prepare for what may be within the dark hunting them.
Or it could be the sa with the rfolk. Their fear of the deepest waters ca from not knowing what was there. Yet, they studied and they learned, they kept records. Because of that, they were able to understand the predators within the deeper waters and how they could fight back or avoid them. It made their fears logical and they lost most of the instinctual fear for deeper waters.
While sowhat similar, the instincts to fight between the continent whale and the gargantuan squid races were left to form before they were proper races. They were opponents who owed one another so much to grow.
"How many generations?"
"How many didn’t have the realization?"
The two finally posed questions of their own while focusing on one another. To Walker, it felt uncomfortable. Not because these two were so large, but because their questions felt like they were the first posed to one another.
No, it felt like this was the first ti that any one of either of their races actually looked at one another with curiosity instead of violence. This felt like the first ti that these two had actually managed to look at one another properly.
"It seems like the two of you have understood what you and all of your races have been missing as intelligent races. Neither race ever ca together enough to properly ask why they were still hunting one another. Why they might still need to kill one another when there are monsters that will never grow to be intelligent races that can be your food?"
"You both are from intelligent races, so now you can be the examples that act like it. Also," Walker looked at the gargantuan squid, "You also carried a race with you, I sensed them when you stopped moving. You and the continent whale make your bodies ho to races that need protection, but the gargantuan squids are a little more focused on strength, so you only allow one race to live with you."
The gargantuan squid was shocked, not only because Walker noticed, but because he saw through its skill.
It had a unique skill that allowed it to use two tentacles and water mana to entirely encompass sothing close to its mouth and hide it. A skill its race developed to hide valuable food, herbs, or other things it desired to protect that would attract predators to it.
"They are an infant of a people. They have the potential to bring monsters most cannot fight to the ends." The gargantuan squid seed to hold this race higher than others, sothing that ant a lot with how its values had a focus on strength.
A shift in tentacles showed them, a group of eggs with small crab like creatures protecting them. "These are foam crabs, they protect them, the eggs hold the last of the humming conch race. A people that move the water through their bodies creating a song great enough to pierce the toughest of shells."
The little eggs moved and the small form of shelled humanoid creatures. There were also signs that so eggs were scraped or scratched, those ones were guarded but the seafoam crabs even more closely.
"So the race develops with the help of a monster, how amazing." This was one of the first tis Walker had seen this happen. A species of monster protecting a race’s eggs and young naturally. It ant they had grown together for many generations allowing a perfect harmony to develop.
While Walker contemplated how this ca to be, it appeared that the continent whale was understanding a misinterpretation of the gargantuan squid race.
The assumption they were just violent creatures determined to only hunt and kill them had been left by their instincts and mothers mory. It was instilled but not sothing that was actually true!
"I believe both of you can allow your people, those under your protection, to et those of Genesis. If you are unable to travel due to your size or strength, we can have mages work on sothing unique. Or we can ask the true water sage if they can guide you in magic. They use a magic that allows them to live, see, hear, and speak through a water golem body. Maybe the two of you can travel amongst the people you have always carried with you."
There was a greater pressure of water mana, a form showed itself, proving to be the very water golem that Walker had just ntioned. The true water sage even made the shape mimic Walker a bit in a clearly teasing form.
"I didn’t expect you to sense now. You have grown again, more than just in strength." The true water sage sensed the flow of mana and also how Walker had manipulated it to stop the two from potentially fighting.
Yes, he had used the mana to form an ice wall, but he had also added his mana to his voice when speaking. It made his point clearer and stronger. Most races had to think about this and train it, Walker did it naturally. It allowed him to know more and do more compared to what he had done before.
"I believe you have started a major step for them. If others et them over the next hundred years their races will change too. I will make sure soone keeps an eye on them." The true water sage dissipated but a last few words remained, "a teacher will be here soon."
The two who had watched this encounter were hesitant. They had never co in to contact with the true water sage or sothing powerful enough to be controlled by them.
It was sothing they had learned about but none of them had ever expected.
"How does all this sound? You two can set an example and learn a bit. The true water sage must have sensed the mont I arrived. I tend to make so waves and cause a little trouble."
A small laugh kept him present but the silence from the two massive beings still held themselves carefully. They were in an untouched situation for their races and those they protected. Plus a powerful figure had appeared and allowed them more.
"I believe those I stand for are interested in this future you wish to explore."
"I will give it a chance, the potential for greater strength is clear to ."
Both agreed leaving Walker to enjoy the flow of mana and his success. It wasn’t force for hard work, it was just taking the ti to be rational and open. He also knew that with the help of whatever teacher the true water sage sent that both would have opportunities beyond who there were now.
It did feel odd that the true water sage expected changes to the two races to take a hundred years though. He felt that it might be faster. That would depend on how the two and the races with them grew though. Whatever they did and however hard they worked could determine it all.
"I will return and let my people know what happened here. Our representatives will soon co to et you. They have water affinity and can share with you and your people what safety practices are needed to visit the world and Genesis as a whole." With a single move forward, Walker was gone.
He left behind a feeling of awe and mystery. Neither truly knew where they would go in the future now. That they didn’t fear that though, they felt excited.
