[Befriending a ghost?]

[Damn, you’ve got guts. I respect that.]

[Whoa, impressive. He can even befriend a ghost.]

[Not necessarily. Maybe he knew the ghost when it was still alive.]

The man didn’t answer. Instead, his lips trembled.

"He... he’s a childhood friend of mine. I haven’t seen him in many years."

Su Nian nodded, gesturing for him to continue.

"But lately, I keep dreaming about him. In my dreams, he’s crying for a long ti, asking why I haven’t visited, why I haven’t co to see him. I thought it was very strange, but my work has been so busy. I have way too much to do every day. There was nothing I could do."

"Then, a few days ago, I received a letter. I thought it was weird. Who even writes letters anymore? But it was from him. He was urging to go ho, to go back to the countryside and see him."

[Childhood friend? Did this friend die or sothing?]

[Definitely. They were close childhood friends. Of course he’d want his friend to co visit him after he died.]

[Hold on, let’s wait and see. Have you all forgotten all the tis the host has proven us wrong?]

The man’s expression grew even more panicked.

"I wanted to go, I really did, but I just didn’t have the ti! The company sent on an overseas assignnt. There was nothing I could do!"

At this point, he seed on the verge of a breakdown, as if drowning in guilt and anguish.

[I’m just saying, this ghost is being pretty unreasonable. They were good friends when he was alive, how can he force him like this?]

[I think this guy is the weird one. He’s so cold-blooded. It’s his childhood friend we’re talking about, and he’s too busy with work to care even after he died.]

Su Nian remained silent throughout. Aside from the black mark on the man’s palm, she couldn’t see any other trace of a ghost on him.

The more the man spoke, the more frenzied he beca, until he was clutching his head in both hands, the very picture of agony.

"There was nothing I could do! There really wasn’t!"

Seeing him in such a state, as if he’d suffered a massive shock, Su Nian’s curiosity was piqued.

After all, a simple ghost encounter wouldn’t normally result in this kind of state.

She tapped her fingers lightly on the table a few tis, a simple action that inexplicably caused the frenzied man to freeze.

"Speak clearly."

Su Nian naturally exuded an arrogant and domineering aura. With her face now cold and her tone glacial, she made him feel as if his hair was standing on end, like he was being stared down by so bizarre, colossal beast.

"I..."

He faltered, montarily forgetting what he was about to say.

"After I finished my work, I took ti off and went back. I thought I should at least see what was going on... but everyone was dead! They were all dead!"

"Everyone in my village... except for ... was dead!"

His emotions, which had just barely stabilized, flared up once more, and his next words were a bombshell.

’The entire village was dead?!’

’And he was the only one left?’

’The strangeness of it all was escalating. What in the world was going on?’

Even the ever-composed Su Nian was a little stirred. ’An entire village of people, dead?’

’Just what kind of monster could do this?!’

’But that’s the strange part. If sothing like that happened, it should have affected this man sohow, but he seems completely unchanged.’

The man’s expression began to turn erratic again. But it wasn’t just Su Nian who was captivated by his story; thousands of viewers were as well.

[The entire village is dead?]

[He was the only exception? Not necessarily. Maybe he just got lucky and managed to escape?]

[That sounds terrifying. This is so creepy.]

The man lowered his head deeply again. He had co to wait in line first thing in the morning and hadn’t slept in days because of what happened in his village. He was exhausted now, but the thought of his village filled him only with fear.

"You’re very tired?"

Su Nian asked. The man’s eyes were red and swollen, with dark circles beneath them. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days.

"Get so rest for now. This afternoon, we’ll go take a look at your village."

"No!"

"I can’t sleep! It will see!"
