As the woman spoke, she looked even more terrified. Her hair stood on end, like a spooked cat that had seen sothing horrifying.

Su Nian nodded. After a mont of silence, she asked, "Are you certain you saw five people?"

The woman’s heart skipped a beat when she heard Su Nian’s question. ’Could there be more than five people?’

Her lips trembled as she desperately tried to recall the events of that day.

’That’s right, it was five people. Four adults and a child...’

She rembered it clearly, but Su Nian’s question filled her with a sense of dread.

She was already terrified, and now she began to wonder if there were more than just those five ghosts.

Her fear intensified. She shot her husband a hateful glare and, unable to restrain herself any longer, turned and slapped him again.

"Tell ! Was it five people you saw that day or not!"

Her voice was loud. She had been under imnse psychological pressure recently. Her husband had always been a bit of a slacker, but she never expected this to happen so soon after her postpartum recovery.

He had snuck out to go fishing. She couldn’t be bothered to lecture him anymore; she figured she would just put up with it for the rest of their lives.

But she never thought he’d bring this kind of trouble down on them. It would be one thing if it was just her, but their child was still so young.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she beca. The calm and gentle deanor she had forced herself to maintain monts ago was now completely gone.

Right in front of Su Nian, an outsider, she slapped her husband hard again.

"Say sothing! Was it five or not!"

She was frantic and furious. If she could travel back in ti, she would want to strangle her past self. ’Why did I ever marry a man like this?’

Her husband looked just as anxious, sweat beading on his forehead. He opened his mouth in terror, trying to speak, straining to form the words, but not a single sound ca out.

He held up his hand, repeatedly making the sign for "five" as if trying to prove it.

But the woman’s repressed dissatisfaction had been building for so ti. The more she thought about it now, the angrier she got.

She stood up and struck him a few more tis, unleashing all the anger she had been suppressing for days.

"What in the world were you thinking! With the baby so little, you just run off to go fishing! Look what’s happened now! You’ve brought a disaster upon us! You’re a jinx!"

[Sigh, I feel sorry for her husband getting yelled at, but I think he deserves it.]

[Yeah, seriously. That’s so irresponsible.]

[You can only say he got what was coming to him.]

[He’s probably the only one who would dare marry a woman like that. Not gentle or virtuous at all.]

[Can share the good tis, but not the bad. Aiyo, won these days... all of them think they’re delicate princesses. Can’t handle ’em, can’t handle ’em!]

Seeing his wife grow more and more frantic, the man, still holding the baby, gestured wildly. But his large movents startled the child in his arms.

This made the woman even angrier. She couldn’t understand how she had ended up marrying a man like this.

She couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness, but then she turned to Su Nian, her eyes filled with hope.

"Master, is there any way to fix this?"

"It’s true that my husband was in the wrong, but as long as they’re willing, this can be resolved, right? There’s no need for them to keep haunting us like this."

’In fact,’ the woman had already made up her mind, ’if they’re going to haunt soone, they can just haunt my husband.’

She and the baby couldn’t endure such a terrifying ordeal.

Su Nian glanced at her, then at her husband.

The man acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing, lowering his head to play with his child.

The woman took a deep breath. Seeing her husband’s resistance, she raised another possibility.

"If it cos down to it, I can go apologize to the ghosts."

Su Nian’s gaze drifted toward the husband, her eyes deep and unfathomable, as if she were looking right through him at sothing else.

"There is a way," Su Nian said lightly. "He has to go apologize to that ghost."

Su Nian’s words were casual, but the man shot up from his chair, nearly dropping the baby in his arms.

Her husband grew even more frantic. He held the baby with one arm and gestured with the other, though no one could tell what he was trying to say. His mouth hung open, a picture of helpless pity.

But Su Nian just watched him quietly. On the surface, this man looked simple and honest.

But he was utterly lacking in responsibility, and his mouth was far too loose.

A gossipy person is prone to bringing trouble upon themselves, especially when they provoke a ghost under such circumstances.

People who have just suffered a violent death are filled with imnse resentnt. Since he showed them no respect, it was only natural that their spirits would co looking for him.

The man was desperate, waving his hands frantically as if to say he couldn’t do it.

Su Nian just gave a faint, ethereal laugh.

Su Nian’s tone was laced with mockery. "If you don’t go apologize, it will haunt you forever. It will haunt you until you’re dead. A gossip is always asking for trouble, and besides, your words showed a complete lack of decency."

The man grew even more panicked. He tried to explain sothing, but no one could understand his gestures.

anwhile, his wife took a deep breath.

"Master, are you serious? If he just goes and apologizes, this whole thing will be over?"

Su Nian nodded. "That’s right. But it depends on whether he’s willing to apologize."

Su Nian shot the man a sidelong glance.

The woman imdiately turned to him, pleading earnestly. "Our child is so young! Do you really want it to keep haunting us? Or are you planning to live all by yourself?"

The woman talked until her throat was dry, but Su Nian glanced at the man and found the fear and evasion in his eyes sowhat ridiculous.

"This is trouble you brought on yourself. If you don’t deal with it, being haunted for the rest of your life would be a *good* outco. You might go ho tonight and die a violent death. After all, their whole family is at your house, waiting for you—all together."

Shaking her head, Su Nian casually picked up a peach from her desk and took a small bite.

The peach was sweet and crisp. Its fresh, sugary flavor spread through her mouth, bringing a sense of delight.

His wife continued to persuade him, but the man just kept his head down, clutching the baby, acting as if it had nothing to do with him.

In the end, the woman couldn’t bring herself to be harsh and asked Su Nian again, "Host, what if I go in his place?"

Su Nian smiled and glanced at her, then shot a look at the man, who was shrinking back with his head down as if he couldn’t hear a thing.

A hint of sarcasm showed in Su Nian’s eyes.

"Are you in that much of a hurry to die for him?"

"Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you stay with him, nothing good will co of it. Your son will be implicated too and have bad luck for his entire life."

Su Nian’s words were blunt. The woman froze, looking from the man to her child.

She bit her lip, seemingly unable to make a decision. Su Nian cleared her throat.

"Either you make him go settle things with those ghosts and apologize, or you leave him and cut all ties."

"A matter like this can be major or minor. If you insist on staying by his side, it will definitely affect you. And with such a young child, whether he’ll even survive is another question."

The mont the woman heard this, she was startled. She glanced at her child and made a firm decision in her heart.

And the man, as if he had only just heard, lifted his head and glared at Su Nian.

His eyes were filled with resentnt, as if Su Nian were the one breaking up his happy life.

’A cowardly man who just hides like this, and yet there’s a woman rushing to die for him.’

Su Nian truly couldn’t understand it.

"Look at with those disgusting eyes again, and I’ll crush your skull."
