Masteria Online: Shattering the Dark God's Grand Scheme Chapter 221 - Who is Micheal? Who is Dante!?
Alright, so thus far we had a large crowd with so dancing, a cookout, and a statue. Neither was particularly egregious, except maybe the statue, but thus far it wasn’t that abnormal for a large crowd of people.
So one could reasonably ask, what exactly was Lumi so surprised about? For the most part, it wasn’t entirely surprising, but it was disappointing. As much as he wanted the players to act better, it would take work.
There wasn’t exactly any individual action that was catastrophic. It was all the little problems added together that made this an issue.
If one thought the previously ntioned was an issue, then one has not looked very closely. Even while up in the air, Lumi could hear their conversations.
Two players talking might not seem particularly strange until you realized they were players. What would they talk about?
They couldn’t discuss the system out loud near natives. So seriously, what would they talk about?
Did you really expect them to start talking about crafting strategies or spell theory?
What a joke.
As Lumi descended on his airship, getting closer, he could hear snippets of dialogue.
One idiot was loudly describing so "expensive lifesized plushie" he’d bought. Talking about its wings, the special type of fur it had, the horn, and so forth. How he cuddled to sleep with it every night, and how he’d buy three more. Now imagine hearing that one as a native.
Another was casually discussing poison gas formulas. Talking about so hydrogen and so sulfur. Sothing about storing it in canisters and deploying them on, allegedly, "Countless innocent civilians."
One player was larping really hard as a wolf or sothing, making howling sounds and prowling on all fours.
Another just blatantly yelled "I HAVE A BOMB!"
Actually, that felt familiar. Lumi eyed that guy closely. Had Lumi co across that guy before? He wasn’t sure.
The natives looked absolutely baffled by all of this. But what Lumi found was despite the various locals’ confusion, their gaze was all at the sa spot, mostly.
Hm? Lumi had to shift his gaze. In this chaotic scene, what could possibly be the detail that has captured all their attention?
When it entered his sight, he froze. What was that? That was...
The Church of Micheal? OR at least, that’s what a banner said.
Wait.
Wait wait wait.
Lumi stared intently. What the hell was that?
Soone... no, so cult or sothing had collected a bunch of white banners and set them up. The banners were literally just white. There wasn’t anything on them. It was an entirely plain banner with no symbols, no text, just pure white fabric.
Additionally, they’d hauled in so sort of statues. Not of a person or deity, but just hands making an "okay" symbol. Multiple hand statues all doing the okay gesture.
There were weird pentagrams and symbols drawn on the ground in chalk. A bunch of players in white hooded robes stood in formation, chanting sothing.
Additionally, they all held guns on them. Now, these weren’t like guns on Earth which were highly advanced. These more closely resembled flintlocks and blunderbusses, and were operated through inner power.
Under the five categories of classes, users of these were placed into the catch all category, "Freestyle". The pirates of Cody Bay were renowned for using these.
Paying attention to this cult, at the center of their formation was a green puppet being burnt at a stake. Next to it was a sign that read, "DANTE’S FATE - FILTHY ORC."
Lumi felt his brain struggling to process what he was seeing. None of this, absolutely NONE of it was in his past life. It wasn’t important, or he would know. Yet, neither was it so sort of popular in the community, since he himself was rather involved.
Which left him with several burning questions.
WHO WAS MICHEAL!?
WHO WAS DANTE!?
WHO WERE THE ORCS!?
If that wasn’t bad enough, they weren’t just standing there. They were singing. It was rather professional, as they sang in uniform and in harmony.
Lumi wasn’t close enough to catch the words, so he directed the airship further under the gaze of countless amazed players.
Soon enough, the words drifted into his ears.
"Underneath the gallows, I just want Dante to hang!"
"I need to watch Dante hang there upon the firepit!"
"I need Dante to hang here tonight, while burning on the pit!"
Lumi stood frozen on his airship. Lena had joined him on the airship. She stared down at the scene with her mouth open. "Are they..." She started.
"Yes...?" Lumi replied, confusedly. "This wasn’t a thing."
"But why are they..." Lena tried again.
"I don’t know." Lumi replied.
The Church of Micheal continued their performance with disturbing enthusiasm.
"I just want Dante to hang more than you could ever know!"
"Micheal, won’t you please bring Dante to die!"
So of the other players in the crowd had stopped what they were doing to watch. A few were laughing. Others looked confused. So were recording the performance to look at later.
The natives looked absolutely horrified.
A pixie mother covered her child’s ears and flew away quickly. A human rchant backed into his shop and closed the door. Even so of the tougher-looking adventurers looked disturbed.
"Who the hell is Micheal!?" Lena exclaid.
"I DON’T KNOW!" Lumi shouted back.
The song continued, sohow getting worse.
Eden had climbed onto the airship as well, holding Sol close. The boy looked absolutely bewildered. "Master.. Are all adventurers like this?"
"No." Lumi said imdiately. "This is... this is a special breed."
"Breed?" Eden noted the word. "Hm. I think I understand."
"No..." Lumi corrected himself. "I was making a joke. It’s not their lineage, just a way to say these people are unusual."
"Breeding..." Lena slowly sighed out.
The Church of Micheal reached what was apparently a bridge in their song. When that point was reached, so of the players in the crowd had started swaying along to the music. A few were even humming the lody.
The natives looked like they were witnessing a mass outbreak of insanity.
