The sll made her uncomfortable, but when she thought of it as a gift from Sun, she forced herself to eat it.

But she just couldn’t accept that taste and ended up making herself sick.

For many years, Bai Xi stayed far away from durians.

"Do you guys want to eat so?" Xu Xingguang politely asked.

Unexpectedly, Bai Xi and Song Chi both said at the sa ti, "No."

After speaking, the two looked up at each other.

The tip of Xu Xingguang’s pen paused, she glanced over at Bai Xi and Song Chi, puzzled: "Why don’t either of you want to eat? I heard it’s quite soft and tasty."

Upon hearing this, Bai Xi and Song Chi spoke in unison again.

Song Chi said, "Tastes like shit."

Bai Xi said, "Tastes like poop."

"..."

Who could still eat after that?

Xu Xingguang suddenly lost her appetite, pushed the nu aside, and asked the waiter to place their order.

Cheng Xizhou, holding a cup of tea, looked playfully at Bai Xi, then at Song Chi, and said incredulously: "Is it that people from Rashomon all find this thing disgusting?"

Song Chi frowned, lost in thought, probably trying to recall.

Bai Xi didn’t know how to explain either.

Anyway, she simply didn’t like that thing.

Xu Xingguang looked at the two of them amusedly and said with lingering aning, "Quite the coincidence."

Song Chi and Bai Xi seed not to understand Xu Xingguang’s hint, silently playing with their phones and waiting for the barbecue to be served.

Feeling bored, Xu Xingguang opened WeChat to ask Huo Wen’an: [Does Divine Concealnt Island have durian?]

Huo Wen’an said: [Yes.] But only Mrs. Huo’s residence has durian.

Xu Xingguang then said: [Next ti we go to Divine Concealnt Island, treat to grilled durian.] She beca fixated on grilled durian since she didn’t get to have it tonight.

[Sure!] Huo Wen’an then added: [By the way, I have a gift for you tomorrow morning, rember to receive it.]

Xu Xingguang: [What is it?]

Huo Wen’an: [You’ll find out tomorrow morning.]

Seeing Huo Wen’an being mysterious, Xu Xingguang played along, not asking further.

Song Chi ate very quickly, describing it as a "whirlwind feast" wouldn’t be an exaggeration. What Xu Xingguang and the others couldn’t finish ended up in Song Chi’s stomach.

After Song Chi finished eating, the group went to pay the bill.

Cheng Xizhou, fearing being recognized, left with a mask on. Bai Xi lagged a few steps behind, carrying things. Passing by the cashier, she saw Song Chi asking the cashier, "How much for these candies?"

The cashier said, "They’re free, handso, you can take so yourself."

Song Chi picked and chose from the plate, selecting a pink peach-flavored hard candy.

The cashier chuckled, "You can take a few more, it’s okay."

But Song Chi said, "Just one."

After Xu Xingguang paid the bill, she glanced at the peach candy in Song Chi’s hand, and asked, "Do you like eating candy?"

Song Chi said, "I forgot."

He couldn’t rember if he liked candy, but while holding the candy, he felt no urge to unwrap it and pop it into his mouth. He instinctively touched his lower back, not finding what he sought, the sadness creeping in.

Song Chi eventually placed the candy in the pocket of his cargo pants.

Xu Xingguang watched his pocket, then looked at Bai Xi outside the restaurant, suddenly saying to Song Chi, "You should treat better."

Song Chi thought Xu Xingguang was reminding him that he owed her his life.

Song Chi nodded seriously, saying, "I will be loyal to the boss for life."

Xu Xingguang scoffed, "Let’s go."

Over here, the four happily enjoyed a delicious barbecue, but at the Jiang Mansion, the atmosphere was heavy.

The news of the Young Madam being locked in the air-raid shelter behind the mountain had spread throughout the Jiang Family.

The servants had heard of the things the Young Madam and her mother did, feeling disdain for their despicable ways, but they still thought the punishnt for the Young Madam was too harsh.

But, it wasn’t sothing the servants should concern themselves with.

Even though Jiang Mantian had reached the age of retirent, he was physically robust and ntally sharp, still holding onto power. He had work to handle every day, and by the ti he finished his official responsibilities, it was already midnight.

Taking off his glasses, Jiang Mantian sipped so light tea, then called out towards the study door: "De An."

De An, the old butler who had served Jiang Mantian for decades, pushed open the door. "Sir." Seeing Jiang Mantian remove his glasses, De An said, "Are you planning to rest, sir? I’ll prepare the water for you."

"Wait." Jiang Mantian looked towards the direction of Jiang Heng’s small courtyard and asked De An, "Has the Young Master not returned yet?"

De An shook his head.

After locking Bai Xuan in the air-raid shelter, Jiang Heng left the Jiang family alone and hadn’t co back since.

Thinking for a mont, Jiang Mantian said, "Prepare the car."

"Sir, are you going out this late?"

"He has gone through so much today, I’m worried." Jiang Mantian said, "I have to find him; the more at tis like this, the more I should be with him."

Hearing this, De An said, "You care for the Young Master, sir. The Young Master has led a smooth life; it’s normal to have ups and downs after facing such a blow for the first ti."

"I’ll prepare the car right away."

De An drove personally, following Jiang Mantian’s instructions to a private beach owned by the Jiang family on the West Continent Coast.

The beach lay next to a mountain, with a sea-view villa there, also owned by the Jiang family.

During Jiang Heng’s teenage years, Jiang Mantian would bring Jiang Heng and Jiang Xue to stay there for a few days every sumr holiday. During those days, Jiang Mantian would set aside all work to focus on vacationing with the children.

They would go fishing at sea, diving, and exploring the beach.

In Jiang Heng’s heart, the seaside villa was their real ho.

Therefore, whenever Jiang Heng felt troubled, he would habitually co there to stay for a while.
