Caelan turned his head in mild surprise.
Just in ti, he caught sight of Alyssa’s slightly flushed cheeks.
He paused for a brief mont, then imdiately raised a hand in greeting.
"Long ti no see, Alyssa!"
Alyssa nodded, her gaze flickering away for an instant.
Even so, she firmly reached out and took hold of Caelan’s arm.
"Co on," she said. "I’ll show you around!"
Caelan turned back and looked toward his grandfather, Caesar, clearly seeking his opinion.
But Grandfather Caesar rely waved a hand in a casual, unconcerned manner.
"This is young people’s business," he said. "An old man like won’t get involved."
"Just rember not to be late for the legion assembly!"
...
Following behind Alyssa, Caelan moved through one bustling and prosperous district after another.
At the sa ti, he overheard the surrounding awakeners chatting among themselves.
"I heard that at this legion eting, several legion commanders will be attending in person. The lineup is absolutely stacked! Too bad I’m not qualified to attend. Sigh..."
"Brother, don’t be so depressed. Those big shots are probably all level eight or nine hundred and above. A top-tier gathering like that isn’t sothing little fry like us could ever join. Being able to hang around here and enjoy the atmosphere is already pretty good, isn’t it?"
"Speaking of which, the environnt here really is great. The prices, though, are way too outrageous. I only bought one serving of grilled skewers, and they charged one gold coin. That’s basically robbery!"
"Shh... look over there. People from the Supre Staff Legion are here. That’s Evelyn, right? No wonder they call her the number one beauty of Supre Staff. She really is stunning!"
...
By the ti they had finished making a full round, Caelan had basically beco an emotionless eating machine.
He remained in a constant state of being fed by Alyssa the entire ti.
Without even realizing it, the ti for the eting arrived.
So, under Alyssa’s reluctant and lingering gaze, Caelan turned and headed toward the assembly hall.
At this very mont, the inside of the hall was already packed with tables covered in fine wine and all kinds of fruit and delicacies.
Rather than the scene of a solemn conference, it looked far more like an extravagant buffet.
With an utterly calm expression, Caelan imdiately switched into full-on whirlwind-devouring mode.
As for everyone else around him, he simply ignored them outright.
Caelan had never been willing to waste even a single extra minute on aningless socializing.
Yet right at that mont, he noticed a number of powerful figures.
These people were likely all elder-level mbers from the various legions.
Perhaps they did not hold the title of vice commander, but their strength was clearly not to be underestimated in the slightest.
Caelan gave them a rough glance and found that not a single one of them was below level 800.
It could practically be confird that these elder-class figures represented the top combat power of each legion.
"What a terrifying group of people," Caelan thought to himself as he drank down mouthful after mouthful of fine wine.
Even in his current state, he was not confident that he could defeat existences of this level.
Just as Caelan was observing these formidable elders, a disturbance suddenly broke out in the distance.
"Trash! Who allowed you to co here? Do you even know what kind of place this is? Is this sowhere a piece of trash like you can sneak into?"
The one speaking was a second-generation scion from the Stonebrawn Legion.
His nose was practically pointed at the young man in front of him, and he carried himself with arrogant disdain.
Then, with savage force, he drove a kick straight into the other man’s abdon.
That alone was enough to show exactly how furious he was at this mont.
To be fair, though, that anger was not entirely incomprehensible.
Today’s legion assembly was a gathering attended by the most important figures and elites of every legion.
Even the legion commanders themselves would be personally present, which was enough to show how high the level of this event truly was.
And yet now, the most useless guy in the entire Stonebrawn Legion had sohow secretly slipped inside.
Wasn’t this a direct slap to the face of the whole Stonebrawn Legion?
At that mont, the one curled up on the ground and trembling was clutching his knees, his face filled with grievance and fear.
His na was Winston, the famously worthless good-for-nothing of the Stonebrawn Legion.
"I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry. I just wanted to co over and see all the big shots."
Winston’s thoughts were actually very simple.
He had originally assud that since he had already managed to sneak in, no one would bother driving him out.
What he had never expected was that not long after getting inside, soone would imdiately try to throw him out.
The Stonebrawn Legion heir still wore the sa arrogant, lofty expression.
He gave Winston a contemptuous sweep of the eyes.
"You really are good at daydreaming."
"With your strength, what right do you have to attend a legion assembly like this?"
"Stop acting pitiful here. You’re already an adult. Using this kind of trick to win sympathy is shaless, you know that?"
For the Stonebrawn Legion, what they had always valued most was an unyielding will.
But a crybaby like Winston was practically destroying the image of the entire Stonebrawn Legion.
Right then, Caelan suddenly pushed his way out from the crowd.
"That’s enough. Just make him leave. There’s no need to keep mocking him."
Caelan was not so bleeding-heart saint.
Still, he could not stand the sight of this kind of bullying.
You could make Winston leave, sure, but there was no need to humiliate him, ridicule him, and keep picking on him like this.
However, Caelan’s sudden appearance disrupted the rhythm of the Stonebrawn Legion mbers at once.
One of their elite mbers imdiately stepped forward and blocked his path.
"And who are you? Is this any of your business?"
If not for the fact that today’s legion assembly was an extrely important occasion, this elite mber would already have been preparing to use force.
Caelan swept him with a glance and replied in an even tone,
"I’m from the Ironclad Legion. I saw injustice and stepped in. Got a problem with that?"
The elite mber was so irritated by those words that he almost laughed.
"Oh? So now your Ironclad Legion plans to ddle in Stonebrawn Legion affairs too?"
"Brother, I suggest you take a good look at your own status. Stirring up trouble on our turf—aren’t you afraid of making a fool of yourself?"
But right then, the family scion from the Stonebrawn Legion standing off to the side felt that Caelan looked strangely familiar.
Wait a second... wasn’t he that guy?
The man nad Tis instantly broke out in a cold sweat.
Without any hesitation at all, he grabbed that elite mber and yanked him to one side.
"Don’t be reckless. We can’t afford to provoke this brat!"
The elite mber opened his mouth, just about to argue a few words in his own defense.
Yet before he could say anything, a crisp and sweet voice rang out from not far away.
"Caelan? So it really is you!"
"What a coincidence. Could you chat with for a bit? I have so many questions I want to ask you!"
As she spoke, Evelyn erged from the crowd.
A smile rested on her face, and a faint seductive softness lingered between her brows.
She even took the initiative to walk forward and wrap both hands around Caelan’s arm.
Caelan froze for a split second.
Then he subconsciously scratched the back of his head.
He had originally thought he might get a chance to show off a little.
But now that Evelyn had arrived, it seed that chance was gone.
At that thought, Caelan cast Winston a glance.
"For you, this is the best possible ti to leave."
