Archbishop Halin did not respond imdiately. Instead, he turned his gaze toward the Speaker’s seat.
Seeing this, the Speaker gave a slight nod and said gently,
"Everyone attending this eting is one of our own. You may speak freely. There is no need to hide anything."
Archbishop Halin nodded, then began,
"In truth, Lord Velani did not leave behind much information. At the ti, he only asked whether the Ivorykin wished to receive the inheritance relic of [Divine]."
"I thought... an inheritance connected to the Chosen One would be a rare opportunity for the Ivorykin, so I agreed."
No one voiced any objection to Halin’s decision.
Because if the choice had been left to any of them, the outco would have been exactly the sa.
After all, the words Chosen One represented absolute power!
Just then, a video feed was suddenly projected onto the large screen in the conference room.
The appearance of that video caused the council mbers present to reveal shocked expressions one after another.
Archbishop Halin, however, remained extrely calm and took the initiative to explain,
"There is no need for concern. This is a video Lord Velani left behind before his departure."
"What you are about to see must be kept strictly confidential."
The next mont, all the mbers of the council fixed their eyes on the screen.
A few breaths later, Velani’s figure appeared in the center of it.
"Friends of the Ivorykin, since you have accepted the inheritance of [Divine], it ans that you have also accepted the destiny of [Divine]. From this point on, the inheritor of [Divine] will engage in the Battle of Destiny against [Dark Titan] and the inheritor of the current age..."
What!?
Battle of Destiny??
Most of the council mbers present showed expressions of stunned disbelief.
Before this, they had barely heard any substantial intelligence regarding the Chosen One.
The video Velani had left behind was very brief, but the information it revealed made every single person present suck in a sharp breath.
So... the Ivorykin had already been dragged into the Battle of Destiny, hadn’t they?
At that very mont, a violent earthquake suddenly ca rumbling in from the distant northeast!
In the next instant, even the entire palace seed unable to withstand it, beginning to shake as if it might collapse at any mont.
Just then, an incoming communication request suddenly appeared on the large screen.
The mont the Speaker saw it, his face darkened to the extre.
Because the request had co directly from the border army!
According to the laws of the Ivorykin, unless under extraordinary circumstances, the border army had absolutely no authority to connect into a eting of the Supre Council.
The Vice Speaker’s expression turned rather ugly. He stole a glance at the Speaker, then asked in a low voice,
"Lord Speaker, shall we allow the connection?"
The Speaker frowned, but then nodded and said,
"Put it through. Perhaps that damned Deathborn has already reached our borders!"
The next mont, the screen began flickering violently!
But before the picture could even beco clear, a heart-wrenching scream burst out from the screen:
"Help! Requesting reinforcents! The Deathborn army—the draconic Deathborn... they’re smashing into our defensive lines! We can’t hold them, we simply can’t hold them!"
"It’s over! The border army has been wiped out! Lord Speaker, you must prepare for the worst!"
...
The voices that followed beca blurred and indistinct, with only the violent sounds of explosions booming in the background.
As for the image itself, it was even more chaotic.
Aside from the overwhelming chain of explosions, a gray sun filled with the aura of death had actually risen at the center of the screen!
Damn it, what in the world was happening!?
The council mbers present all inhaled sharply.
They could not understand it at all.
Hadn’t they been told there was only a single Deathborn?
Why did it feel as though an entire powerful Deathborn army was fighting the border forces?
...
At the Supre Staff Legion,
Evelyn went to the commander’s office and reported Caelan’s intentions to Commander rlinster.
A mont later, the large display in the commander’s office lit up.
The image on the screen showed the scene at the Ivorykin border, though the picture shifted rapidly, making it obvious that Caelan was moving at high speed.
And behind him followed several Deathborn draconic beasts!
These were in fact [Divine Mirror Dragonlords], but after being corrupted by death energy, they had undergone mutation.
At this mont, with Caelan at the center, vast regions around him were shrouded in dense death energy.
The countless draconic beasts blotted out the sky, radiating an overwhelming sense of oppression.
As for the Ivorykin defenders, they could practically be described as collapsing at first contact. Before they could mount any aningful resistance, they were already being routed by the Deathborn army led by Caelan, fleeing in complete disarray!
At this very mont, even Commander rlinster could not help but sigh inwardly,
"That boy Caelan... his skills are truly unfathomable!"
"Though you are both Chosen Ones, your inheritance seems far less heaven-defying than his!"
Evelyn deeply agreed and nodded heavily.
In fact, the current Evelyn was not even confident she could defeat the [Divine Mirror Dragonlord] summoned by Caelan.
Although they were both peak four-star Awakeners, Evelyn could keenly sense the enormous gap between herself and Caelan.
Even after becoming an inheritor and obtaining the inheritance of [Dark Titan],
in Evelyn’s eyes, not only had the distance between them failed to shrink—
it had instead grown even wider!
rlinster, however, was thinking about sothing else.
Judging from the power Caelan had displayed so far, with his strength alone, he could practically rival an entire legion!
At that mont, the Supre Staff slowly floated up as well.
This ti, it appeared unusually composed, even displaying a striking contrast to its previous temperant.
"According to my assessnt, the Chosen One of this era is the most powerful Chosen One in all recorded generations."
"Although he has not yet truly stepped onto the Path of Divine Revelation, the strength he has already displayed far surpasses that of all previous Chosen Ones."
"So... the Battle of Destiny will likely be extrely difficult."
At this point, the Supre Staff cast Evelyn a deep look.
Evelyn spread her hands helplessly, yet a relieved smile appeared on her face.
"I actually accepted that reality a long ti ago. As long as I can be of value to humankind, I don’t mind even if it costs my life."
At this point, Evelyn paused for a mont, then looked toward rlinster, a trace of apology flashing through her eyes.
"I’m very sorry, Commander rlinster. My decision may affect the interests of the Supre Staff Legion, but I..."
"Silly child, there is no need for you to explain!"
