Boom—!
It was as if the entire world had been swallowed by a vast expanse of blinding white!
The original battlefield was now nothing but a massive, bottomless crater.
The intense white light had even vaporized all the surrounding trees. The once-lush forest had, in this instant, turned into a barren wasteland!
"My God... this really is the end of the world!"
"May the gods protect ! I only wanted to ascend to heaven and marry several wives!"
"Wake up, brother. With how poor you are, even in heaven you’d still be at the bottom. Believe it or not??"
The population of Newdean numbered in the tens of millions.
Yet at this mont, as if by unspoken agreent, they all went weak in the limbs and collapsed to the ground.
They silently closed their eyes and quietly waited for death to arrive.
What they hadn’t expected, however, was that death never ca.
A full ten minutes later, soone finally couldn’t hold back any longer and slowly opened their eyes.
And in the very next instant, almost everyone looked toward the newly risen object in the sky—
a tiny sun, like a mountain suspended above the earth.
But its color was not the usual orange-red of the sun.
It was pure white in the truest sense of the word.
Just one glance at it was enough to make one feel the overwhelming heat waves, along with the unmistakable aura of death energy that could no longer be suppressed.
Fortunately, that deathly aura had not spread outward. It was strictly confined to the area near the explosion.
Caelan had never intended to harm civilians. His idea was simple: complete his mission, finish this fated showdown, and that was all.
Of course, as for those Ivorykin awakeners who had chosen to attack him of their own accord, he had no intention of showing rcy.
Kill them, and be done with it.
Once battle begins, one should be prepared either to kill the enemy—or be killed.
At this very mont, the Speaker inside the palace was equally horrified by the scene before him!
His face had turned pale, and even his body could not help but tremble slightly.
As the true ruler of the Ivorykin in every practical sense, he had never imagined that the Chosen One’s power could reach such a level.
What was even more terrifying was that this Chosen One was actually a Deathborn from the [Void Frontier]. Could it be that this world was about to undergo another massive upheaval??
Wait—what about Palmar??
The Speaker’s pupils contracted slightly. Just then, the king at his side suddenly cried out in panic,
"It’s over! Palmar’s been killed!"
"Speaker, take and run! I don’t want to die!"
"Speaker, stop spacing out! Do you want to die here or sothing??"
After shouting that, the king even tried to drag the Speaker away and flee. But the Speaker did not move at all. Instead, he kept all of his attention fixed on the distant battlefield.
Sothing was wrong.
The Holy Trident was still radiating light, as though it had not been affected in the slightest.
Even though it had been located right at the center of the explosion, it was still the sa.
Seeing this, the Speaker abruptly recalled a skill Palmar had used before. His eyes lit up, and he shouted loudly,
"Everyone, stay calm! Palmar is still alive—he’s still alive!"
"As long as the Holy Trident remains, he won’t die!"
The Ivorykin higher-ups had already been preparing to run for their lives.
But after hearing the Speaker’s words, every one of them imdiately stopped in their tracks and started hurrying back instead.
Yet there was no guilt or sha on any of their faces for having tried to flee.
They simply felt hope had returned, nothing more.
Watching the battle through the screen, Evelyn curled her lips in disdain.
"Tch. These Ivorykin higher-ups really have no backbone at all. They were clearly already running away just now, so why are they coming back again? And look at their faces—they don’t feel ashad at all!"
Hearing that, rlinster frowned and said in a serious tone,
"Evelyn, you should not develop prejudice toward any race. Although the relationship between the Ivorykin and us humans is not especially friendly, that does not an we humans are sohow superior. Do you understand?"
At that point, rlinster paused briefly before continuing,
"For a race to develop, it must constantly optimize and improve itself. It must never beco blindly arrogant. Just look at the elves now—what have they beco? The once-free elves, once hailed as a beacon of civilization, have now beco a joke! The free elves spend every day in shootouts. Do you think they still have any hope left??"
Faced with rlinster’s endless lecturing, Evelyn wore a helpless expression.
The commander was good in every other way, but having once been a professor, he would always slip into teaching mode every now and then.
What did the Ivorykin have to do with her anyway??
She only hoped Caelan could co back safe and sound!
So Evelyn put on the appearance of a well-behaved and sensible girl, then nodded vigorously and said,
"Commander, I understand now. Can we continue watching the battle?"
"Ah—look at Newdean! It seems sothing’s happening there too!"
At the next mont, both rlinster and Evelyn shifted their focus toward Newdean.
There they saw that Caelan had already used the civilians as cover to lure away the powerful experts guarding the Boundary Monolith.
His position was now only one final seal away from the Boundary Monolith itself.
Seeing this, Evelyn unconsciously clenched the hem of her dress.
Never in her dreams had she imagined that one day she would be this nervous because of soone else!
Caelan, you have to be careful. I know you can do it!
...
Faced with the final seal, Caelan simply did not care.
He could not even be bothered to use any skill.
He rely gripped his longsword with both hands and gave it a light swing.
In the next instant, that seal was sliced open with astonishing ease!
In truth, this did not an Caelan was overwhelmingly powerful.
It was simply because the Ivorykin’s security asures were not thorough enough.
After all, the Boundary Monolith was extrely important to every race—but at the sa ti, it was not sothing anyone would normally covet.
Because the Boundary Monolith was bound to its race.
In the last ten thousand years, no one had ever heard of anybody trying to target a Boundary Monolith. Wouldn’t that just be pure insanity??
It was only a stone monunt, not so precious material.
And even if soone got their hands on it, it would be useless.
What normal person would bother stealing sothing like that?
Besides, for all races, even if a Boundary Monolith were sohow lost, they would only need to spend another ten years recreating a new one.
And during the reconstruction period, the Boundary Monolith’s effects would still remain in place.
So...
If even a fool wouldn’t bother stealing it, who would seriously care that much?
The powerful experts arranged by the Grand Marshal to guard the place were only there to lie in wait and catch soone if needed.
As for the Boundary Monolith itself—
literally no one cared.
