Caesar’s words plunged the assembled senior mbers of the Ironclad Legion into a brief silence.
Never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that the truth of this world would be like this.
Just then, even more words surfaced across the Wall of Space-Ti. However, the content of these words could only be seen by Caelan and Evelyn.
The so-called Chosen One was, in truth, a form of assistance provided by the Songweaver Civilization to help Earth survive its trial.
The Chosen One possessed overwhelming power. They could almost be called the strongest awakener of their era.
But even so, leading one’s own race to truly complete the trial was by no ans an easy task for a Chosen One.
To be more precise, before Caelan, it was still uncertain whether anyone had ever succeeded.
At the very least, the two Chosen Ones known to the Supre Staff had both failed. That was also why it had remained dormant for such a long ti.
According to the records on the Wall of Space-Ti, once a Chosen One reached the maximum level, they would face one final trial. If they completed that trial, they would be considered to have passed the Songweaver Civilization’s test.
But if they failed...
The Wall of Space-Ti did not continue recording beyond that point. However, Caelan and Evelyn could roughly guess what their fate had been.
Without a doubt, the changing of eras was most likely the result of a failed trial.
Evelyn suddenly raised her head and looked in Caelan’s direction. Although she said nothing, Caelan already understood what she ant.
After thinking for a mont, Caelan nodded and said,
"I think this information can be shared."
The two of them quickly reached an agreent. Caelan then told everyone present the information related to the Chosen One as well.
In the next mont, solemn expressions appeared on the faces of the senior officers.
So the Chosen One, and the changing of eras, were all part of an experint conducted by the Songweaver Civilization?
Wasn’t that far too cruel?
In the end, Caesar was the first to digest this shocking news. He gave a faint smile, then heavily patted Caelan on the shoulder.
"Kid, do you feel like the burden on your shoulders has suddenly beco very heavy?"
"Actually, you don’t need to put too much pressure on yourself. Just do what you need to do. I believe that one day, you’ll definitely complete the final trial."
"But before that, we need to figure out just how difficult this final trial is. Why did two consecutive generations of Chosen Ones fail at the very end?"
Many of the senior officers nodded in agreent with Caesar’s question.
"The commander is right. The previous Chosen Ones all fell during the final trial, so I think we should do everything we can to gather relevant intelligence for Caelan."
"No matter what, Caelan is our only hope. If he fails, perhaps all of us will go extinct. Who can guarantee that they’ll definitely be able to enter the next era?"
For a mont, the atmosphere in the room beca sowhat heavy.
Before they knew the truth of this world, most of them had not felt such a strong sense of urgency.
But now that they had truly seen the truth of the world, a sense of crisis naturally rose from the depths of their hearts.
Although the Songweaver Civilization called this nothing more than a ga, nothing more than an experint, for the human race—and even for all races—this was a matter of life and death!
If they truly failed, who could possibly bear that responsibility?
"This Songweaver Civilization is really sothing. Are they that bored? Why do they have to use us for an experint?"
"Don’t say that. If we pass the experint, won’t we receive generous rewards as well? When that ti cos, our human race will truly beco powerful!"
"That sounds wonderful, but have you ever thought about what will happen if we fail?"
...
Overall, the focus of the senior officers’ discussion remained on the final trial.
At that mont, Evelyn suddenly thought of the Supre Staff in her hand and asked,
"Senior Supre Staff, do you know why Senior Volibel failed to complete the final trial back then?"
Faced with Evelyn’s question, the Supre Staff seed extrely dispirited.
It flew very low, almost close to the ground, and swayed its body as it said,
"If I knew that, I wouldn’t have been created in the first place."
"The reason I was created was because I was one of my master’s backup plans. The mont my seal was broken, it ant that my master had failed."
"But as for how he failed, I don’t know either. Before I was sealed, everything was still normal."
"Perhaps you’ll only truly learn the answer to that question after your own levels have risen high enough."
Evelyn’s communication with the Supre Staff was not hidden from Caelan.
Even so, Caelan did not feel particularly nervous.
In his view, the so-called Songweaver Civilization would definitely leave Earth with a sliver of hope.
If the experint was destined to fail, then there would be no need to conduct it at all.
So thinking too much about it was actually useless. Focusing on steadily improving his own strength was what he truly needed to do.
For example, what Caelan was really worried about right now was his mirror counterpart.
According to the additional information later provided by the Supre Staff, the so-called mirror counterpart was not rely a simple copy of oneself. It was highly possible that uncontrollable factors could appear.
On the other side, Caesar was preparing to pull the senior officers into a eting.
However, when he saw Caelan and Evelyn whispering to each other, he could not bring himself to disturb them.
After all, these two children had kept their nerves constantly tense while they were in the Abyss. They needed to relax properly.
Thinking of this, Caesar imdiately said,
"Caelan, Evelyn, if you’re tired, you can leave first. If anything happens, or if we make any new progress on our side, we’ll let you know then."
"As for the Wall of Space-Ti, we still need to conduct further research. Of course, there’s no need to worry. The commander from the Supre Staff Legion has already led people over."
"We also need to discuss whether this information should be shared with the Grand Council of Races."
"Although relations between the races are currently tense, this is, after all, sothing that concerns everyone."
Caelan had no interest in etings to begin with. In particular, discussions that went back and forth over the sa points made him feel like he was wasting ti.
So he imdiately grabbed Evelyn and left the office.
After leaving the office, Evelyn also received a ssage urging her to return. She waved her hand and said goodbye to Caelan.
"Caelan, rember to stay in touch when you have ti!"
...
Caelan left the Ironclad Legion headquarters and then directly used [Flashstep] to return to his manor.
He should have gained quite a lot from this trip to the Abyss. He needed to carefully take stock of his spoils!
The mont he thought of this, Caelan instantly beca energized.
After all, nothing was happier than counting money!
