Capítulo 1468: Chapter 1457: Reaching an Agreent
Ning Fan smiled faintly, “That’s not how you should look at it. Isn’t it better to have an insider? Maybe there’s information the Ma Family hasn’t gathered.”
“Very likely.”
Ning Fan chuckled. Not just very likely, but definitely so.
No matter how strong the Ma Family is, they are still outsiders after all.
As one of the four Elders, Lin i is surely privy to so unknown secrets.
Ma Fei’er said worriedly, “But what if she refuses to cooperate or deliberately misleads us, what should we do?”
“She will cooperate.”
A glint of coldness flashed in Ning Fan’s eyes, his lips curling into a cold smile.
Ma Fei’er noticed this but wasn’t bothered at all. Although she detested slaughtering or torturing demons, she wouldn’t be so pedantic if the situation was urgent.
“Elder Lin i, wouldn’t you agree?”
Ma Fei’er exclaid in surprise, “She’s awake?”
Looking at a near-death, withered Lin i, Ma Fei’er always thought her condition was critical.
“She’s a lot more tenacious than you think. Isn’t there a saying, the good die young, while evildoers linger for a thousand years?”
As he spoke, Ning Fan kicked Lin i, threatening her, “If you don’t wake up, I’ll let you slumber here forever.”
As soon as he finished speaking, accompanied by a few elderly coughs, Lin i slowly opened her eyes, showing an old and kind deanor.
“Old witch, you’re quite the actress.”
Ning Fan didn’t hide his sarcasm, “Clearly a ruthless demon, yet pretending to be repentant. Spare the act.”
“At this point, Ning Shao, there’s no need to be so aggressive and hurtful.”
Lin i sighed deeply as if deeply regretful, “I know my sins are grave; reaching this point is my own doing.”
“In that case, you might as well atone with your life.”
Ning Fan said, delivering a finger wind to Lin i’s Dantian.
Instantly, Lin i spat out a mouthful of black blood, pointing painfully at Ning Fan, “You… you destroyed my cultivation.”
“Indeed.”
Ning Fan laughed nonchalantly, “Since you seek atonent, start with your cultivation.”
“You…”
Lin i glared at Ning Fan like a venomous snake.
Ning Fan mocked lightly, “That’s the look! Clearly a conniving serpent, why pretend to be a harmless rabbit?”
“Hmph!”
Lin i snorted coldly, turning her head away.
“Did you hear everything just now?”
Seeing that Lin i was ignoring him, Ning Fan kicked her again.
Though the kick wouldn’t break bones, the mutated True Qi attached to it caused imnse pain.
Soon, Lin i felt the suffering of her comrades, feeling as though she was cast into a sea of fire, burning painfully all over.
“Stop. Stop.”
A whole minute passed before Ning Fan dispelled the mutated True Qi from Lin i.
Now Lin i was covered in mud, in a pitiful state, drenched in sweat as if fished out from water.
But despite this, Lin i was defiant, “You destroyed my cultivation, why should I cooperate with you?”
“Isn’t the fear of death enough?”
Lin i sneered, “I’d rather choose death. Without cultivation, how is this different from dying?”
“Very well. The Ma Family doesn’t lack intelligence on the Corpse Herding Sect, at most it’ll be a little troubleso.”
Speaking, a glob of milky white light erged from Ning Fan’s finger.
Feeling the searing sensation from the light, Lin i’s expression changed rapidly, “I agree to cooperate. But you must promise not to kill afterward, to let leave safely.”
Ning Fan nodded without hesitation, “Sure, no problem.”
Perhaps thinking Ning Fan agreed too readily, or judging by her own standards.
Lin i added, “How can I trust you?”
“Old witch, don’t test my patience.” Ning Fan scoffed, “You’ve lost half a life and all your cultivation now; I doubt you can stir any trouble.”
“Good then.”
A gleam of joy flashed in Lin i’s eyes; her bargaining was just to wait for this assurance.
Dantian destroyed, lifespan depleted—most martial artists would just accept impending death.
Even enemies would enjoy the sight, for nothing soothes vengeance more than a fate worse than death.
But Lin i was different; her cultivation in Chard Technique didn’t require a Dantian, relying instead on absorbing Yang to replenish Yin, restoring martial prowess and even lifespan.
Returning to youth, attractiveness—it’s just a matter of ti.
So Lin i cherished her life more than Ning Fan imagined, as she still had a chance for a coback.
“I warn you. Releasing you depends on you cooperating to find Lin Batian.”
“What? Lin Batian isn’t dead?”
“Still not honest.”
Ning Fan’s gaze turned cold; he had long seen through Lin i’s act of playing dead but just didn’t expose her.
Lin Batian’s departing words were undoubtedly heard by Lin i.
“I…”
A hint of embarrassnt crossed Lin i’s old face; her habit of disguise led to an involuntary act, quickly redying the situation, “When do we leave?”
“No ti to waste, today.”
If not for needing to inform Baby Hai, Ning Fan would have set off imdiately.
“Ah Fan, why not wait until our Ma Family’s Council of Elders arrives…”
She was saying, Ma Fei’er awkwardly closed her mouth, intending to go with the elders to Western Hunan’s Corpse Herding Sect.
With the Corpse God vanquished, speaking of waiting for them now seed insincere.
Ning Fan reassured, “Let’s not talk about this yet. Let’s et Baby Hai first and then decide.”
Ma Fei’er, just about to speak, hearing these three words, eventually bit her lip.
“Let’s go!”
The skies had fully brightened; Ning Fan and the others entered the city, returning to where they’d parked before.
Driving near Baby Hai’s place, Ma Fei’er asked puzzledly, “What about her? Should we take her with us?”
“Of course not.”
Ning Fan shook his head imdiately.
He couldn’t imagine explaining taking back a white-haired old woman when they had left with just two people.
“You go back inside. I’ll be back shortly. If Baby Hai asks, just say I went to buy breakfast.”
“I understand.”
As Ma Fei’er was about to get out of the car, Ning Fan suddenly rembered sothing, “Oh, Fei’er… rember this carefully, don’t get it wrong.”
Ning Fan recounted the fib he told Baby Hai yesterday.
“I got it.”
Ma Fei’er nodded smartly, then couldn’t help but ask, “Did you deceive Miss Hai intentionally to stop her from worrying?”
“Yes! After all, these matters don’t concern her.”
Worrying is one reason; another is Baby Hai’s disposition.
