Chen Min chuckled softly, "I understand what you an. Let's go."
Watching the pair ahead holding hands, Ning Fan's eyes were full of doubt; Chen Min was indeed acting very strangely today.
"Play with Nannan for a while. Dinner will be ready soon."
After returning from buying groceries, Chen Min tossed out a sentence and headed into the kitchen.
Nannan leaned in and whispered in Ning Fan's ear, "Brother, does Teacher Chen like you?"
"Don't talk nonsense."
Ning Fan quickly covered Nannan's mouth; he wasn't narcissistic enough to think every woman would like him.
The only thing Ning Fan could ascertain was that Chen Min did have a certain level of fondness for him.
But when it ca to liking him, he didn't think so.
Listening to the chopping sounds coming from the kitchen, Ning Fan sighed, "Everything is a mystery!"
At that mont, Ning Fan's phone rang.
As soon as he saw the caller ID, he knew sothing was wrong.
This number was from Ouyang Feifei, and Ning Fan hadn't saved it for certain reasons.
Unless it was urgent, Ouyang Feifei wouldn't call him voluntarily.
"Teacher Chen, I have to take this call."
After a brief greeting, Ning Fan stepped outside.
As soon as the call connected, Ouyang Feifei's anxious voice ca through, "Ning, sothing's happened to Huo Qiuran."
"How could sothing happen to her?"
Ning Fan's heart jolted.
Huo Qiuran wasn't a simple woman; she's known as the underground queen of Zhonghai City, the mastermind behind many enterprises, and even collaborates with international underground organizations.
Simply put, she dominates both the black and white worlds.
For a woman to have reached this point, her mindset and ans are naturally exceptional.
How could she end up in such a dire situation?
Ning Fan really couldn't fathom the reason for her predicant; it's remarkable she doesn't cause trouble for others.
"We received an encrypted ssage from Miss Huo, it simply read 'Save .'
"When did this happen?"
Ning Fan's brows furrowed even further.
Realizing Huo Qiuran's situation was quite dire, she was possibly teetering on the edge of life and death, otherwise she wouldn't have hastily sent just these two words.
Huo Qiuran has always been engaged in illicit business, her enterprises acquired through fights and grabs.
The saying goes, 'Often walking along the river, there'll be wet shoes.'
Huo Qiuran is unwilling to give up these industries, Ning Fan couldn't rest without advising her to always carry the modified satellite phone and contact him in ergencies.
"Just now. That's why I notified you imdiately."
Ning Fan asked, "The ssage wasn't sent from Zhonghai, right?"
Zhonghai is Huo Qiuran's headquarters, Ning Fan couldn't imagine anyone else capable of pushing her to this extent.
"The ssage ca from New York."
Ning Fan was surprised, "How did she end up going to Arica?"
"According to our investigation, Miss Huo has been gone for half a month."
"So she left quite so ti ago. She went abroad without even notifying anyone."
Thinking of certain matters gave Ning Fan a headache.
No need to guess, Huo Qiuran undoubtedly went to New York for business.
Huo Qiuran knew Ning Fan disapproved of this type of business, so she rarely ntioned it in front of him.
"She probably ran into so cutthroat competition. Why didn't she listen to and retire sooner?"
Ning Fan bitterly smiled inside; with his woman in danger, he couldn't sit idly by.
"Book the earliest flight to New York."
"I've checked, the soonest flight is tonight."
Ouyang Feifei, from the other end of the line, said grimly, "Do you need us to mobilize?"
"No. Just gather the pertinent information."
Given the belief that Huo Qiuran encountered predatory business tactics, Ning Fan preferred a swift resolution on his own, rather than being encumbered by the Shadow Squad.
"See you at the airport tonight."
After hanging up, Ning Fan was imnsely troubled, pondering what reason to use for going to New York.
He certainly couldn't reveal the truth; otherwise, his two sisters-in-law would tear her apart.
At the dinner table, Chen Min suddenly asked, "Mr. Ning, do you have sothing on your mind?"
"Ah... no, not at all."
Chen Min smiled playfully, "If you weren't preoccupied, shouldn't you have praised my cooking?"
Upon hearing this, Ning Fan looked at Chen Min in surprise; it seed he was witnessing her playful side for the first ti.
Ning Fan awkwardly said, "Sorry, my mistake."
"I'm just joking with you."
With that, Chen Min removed the bones from the fish and placed them in Nannan's bowl.
"Thank you, Teacher. Your cooking is delicious, better than my sister's."
Chen Min's mind shifted, "Which sister?"
"My brother's wife."
"Does Mrs. Ning often cook for you?"
"Sister is very busy. I've only had her cooking once, on the day of school opening."
"You little rascal, you should be grateful."
Ning Fan joked with a laugh.
Xu Ruolan can be said to barely lay hands on household chores, and she's particularly busy with work, Ning Fan doesn't even enjoy her cooking.
But to celebrate Nannan starting school, Xu Ruolan specially left work early that day for a family dinner.
However, Chen Min seed to have heard those words and instantly displayed a 'so that's it' expression.
"Seems like there must have been outsiders present that day, a deliberate performance."
Chen Min subtly shook her head, her misunderstanding of Xu Ruolan growing deeper.
Ning Fan awkwardly said, "Teacher Chen, I'll be on a business trip next week, so the tutoring might need to pause for a day."
"Is that why you were so concerned just now?"
Chen Min's gaze subtly shifted, continuing to ask, "Then what about Nannan? Will she be sent to Mrs. Ning?"
Ning Fan hesitated, "Yes, Nannan will be sent to my wife."
Chen Min remarked indifferently, "But your wife is so busy; will she have ti to take care of her?"
"I've been pondering this problem."
With such a large company, everything is burdened on Xu Ruolan alone, she's usually so busy she barely has ti to eat.
Let alone taking care of Nannan—unless she takes a week's leave.
Xu Xiaoqing might have ample ti, but this young sister-in-law isn't reliable, Ning Fan was already uneasy thinking about it.
"How about this, if you trust , leave Nannan with for caretaking."
"Teacher Chen, you must be kidding. Of course, I trust you."
Ning Fan shifted the conversation, shaking his head, "But it would be too much trouble for you."
Chen Min smiled, "No trouble at all. Nannan can eat and sleep with at school after classes."
Chen Min further asked, "Is it difficult to explain to your wife?"
Upon hearing the question, Ning Fan couldn't help but look at Chen Min peculiarly.
It's definitely hard to explain. It's not like there's no one at ho; if necessary, the old father-in-law could end his trip and return early.
If Nannan were entrusted to soone else, Xu Ruolan certainly wouldn't be happy inside.
Seeing Ning Fan silent and seemingly troubled, Chen Min was more convinced of her assumptions.
In Chen Min's perspective, Xu Ruolan and Ning Fan's marriage, along with adopting Nannan, was a pretense for reputation purposes.
Now, Ning Fan was about to tear down this facade, and naturally, it was difficult for him to explain to his wife.
