Chapter 1720: Chapter 1709: Lakeside Cabin

“Ah…”

Alice, who was screaming, blushed and lowered her head under Ning Fan’s watchful gaze.

“Can blood clans be afraid of ghosts too?”

Ning Fan chuckled, recalling his first encounter with Nannan. At that ti, it wasn’t fear, just the shock of ghosts actually existing.

Alice awkwardly said, “No… there’s nothing to fear about ghosts. Don’t you feel that it’s way too quiet here, eerily quiet?”

“Quiet?”

Ning Fan looked around and found that it was indeed excessively quiet.

Even though it was late at night, there wasn’t even the slightest sound of birds or animals in the woods.

Aside from the plants, there seed to be no signs of life here.

Ning Fan frowned, suddenly feeling that Bick’s situation was not that simple.

“Let’s go.”

Alice glanced around, then timidly reached out to hold the hem of Ning Fan’s clothes.

It seed that only by doing so could she dispel the fear in her heart.

After passing through the woods, a vast lake ca into Ning Fan’s view.

Misty fog shrouded the quiet lake,

under the chilling moonlight, the elusive mist crafted a dreamlike scene.

But Ning Fan, seeing this, felt an inexplicable chill.

“This place is like a damn horror film set.”

Looking back at the deep and sinister woods, Ning Fan really couldn’t understand who would dare live here with such nerve.

And yet, soone did, and it was a wealthy widow.

“Bick should be in that house, right?”

“What’s with the ‘should’!”

Ning Fan muttered to himself, there was only one building by the riverbank.

It was a white-painted wooden house, a typical Arican rural villa, with a two-story duplex structure.

The white wooden house was close to the riverbank, and a simple dock was built next to it, with a small wooden boat moored there.

“Hope that guy Bick is here.”

Ning Fan shook his head and headed for the wooden house with Alice.

As they got closer to the wooden house, Ning Fan’s frown deepened.

“Strange! No sound, no presence. Is there no one inside the wooden house?”

Gazing at the pitch-dark wooden house, Ning Fan’s eyes were full of suspicion.

“Ning Fan, I seem to sense a ghost’s presence.”

Ning Fan looked at Alice in surprise, only to rember she had ntioned this term earlier.

“I… just have that feeling.”

Under Ning Fan’s gaze, Alice’s initially raised head lowered more and more.

“What’s going on? Why is she suddenly so scared of ?”

The odd thought flashed by, Ning Fan pondered, “Ghosts are what we call spirits in the East, right?”

“Yes, they’re souls of the deceased.”

Having already encountered ghosts, Ning Fan was unmoved by this information, “So, a ghost lives in this wooden house?”

“Yes.”

After saying this, Alice hesitated, “I only have that feeling, I’m not sure.”

This Princess of the Morgan family had zero combat experience and only sensed sothing was amiss here from the knowledge passed down by her family.

“Alice, be confident. Say what you think.”

Ning Fan smiled, “Even if you’re wrong, do you think I will bla you?”

“Mm.”

Alice nodded.

She wasn’t afraid of Ning Fan’s bla, but her mind suddenly beca too apprehensive, which made her speak so cautiously.

“Whether it’s human or ghost, we’ll know once we enter.”

Eyes fixed on the wooden house not far away, Ning Fan hesitated, “Alice, if you’re afraid…”

Alice shook her head, “Not afraid. Actually, there’s nothing to fear from ghosts.”

As Ning Fan and the others approached, the fog that seed unmoving earlier began to shift and weave at a visible pace.

The fog grew thicker and thicker, to the point of visually obstructive.

“Looks like there really is a she-ghost.”

“It’s a spirit.”

Amused by Alice’s particular correction, Ning Fan’s eyes flashed with humor, unaffected by the thick fog, and he continued forward.

As if knowing that its plan had failed, a woman’s laughter erged from the dispersing fog.

Soon, the crisp laughter turned into mournful weeping.

Had ordinary people encountered this scene, they’d have been scared out of their wits.

But Ning Fan simply found it amusing.

Compared to the scene when he encountered Nannan, this was child’s play.

Alice felt equally relaxed and at ease, her earlier fear entirely due to the eerie environnt.

Spirits, like vampires, belonged to the dark faction, you could say they were one of them.

Alice had seen spirits before, and her family even had a two-thousand-year-old spirit who often told her stories.

Seeing the shadows looming in the fog, Ning Fan questioned, “Are those spirits?”

Several white figures, hiding in the fog, continued changing their positions.

Alice smiled, “No. This is just a Blinding thod, only ant to scare us.”

Seeing the plan of frightening them unsuccessful, the fog began to change again.

From being foggy white, it gradually turned to a sinister and frightening blood red.

Countless blood with a foul stench turned the place into a sea of blood.

Seeing this, Alice didn’t feel pleased, instead, she felt nauseous and disgusted.

“Playing tricks!”

Ning Fan’s eyes turned cold with a hint of anger.

Even though he knew these were harmless illusions, anyone would feel uncomfortable seeing such a bloody scene.

The Seven-Colored True Qi Protective Shield enveloped him, and Ning Fan transford into a small beacon of light.

“Ah…”

After a sharp, shrill scream.

The blood-red fog began to revert to normal under the scorching True Qi imbued with Divine Power and retreated back to the lake like a tide.

The previous illusion completely disappeared, and everything returned to normal.

Hearing the pathetic scream, Alice quickly said, “Ning Fan, can you let her go? She didn’t an any harm.”

“Alright.”

Ning Fan nodded and retracted the external True Qi.

Alice wasn’t wrong.

This spirit indeed had no malice, just trying to scare the two away.

Apparently fearing to cause death by fright, it kept the illusion’s power in check.

“Let’s go in.”

Upon entering the wooden house, Ning Fan imdiately sensed the presence of a living person.

“Strange!”

Ning Fan exited the wooden house frowning, and the presence he sensed earlier began to fade again.

The farther from the wooden house, the more perfectly the presence concealed itself.

Ning Fan’s odd expression caught Alice’s attention, “What’s wrong?”

After Ning Fan’s description, Alice hesitated, “It should be related to the terrain here, and the spirit in the wooden house might have been unintentionally born.”

“Terrain?”

Ning Fan directed his gaze to the tranquil lake ahead, indeed feeling a chilling, bone-piercing coldness.

This coldness wasn’t targeted physiologically but ntally.

One could say, an ordinary person arriving here, influenced by this coldness, would subconsciously depart.
