Capítulo 1801: Chapter 1790: Apostate Fallen
It was by great effort that Stuart managed to break through the encirclent and arrive here with his last breath.
But only now did he realize that he did not hate as much as he had imagined.
Stuart did not spare Adams because Adams had saved his life.
Before coming here, Stuart was already prepared to face death.
Adams swallowed nervously and forced a laugh, then asked the biggest question in his mind, “So how did you find ?”
This question was crucial. If Stuart could find this place, it ant others could too.
Stuart sneered, “Don’t you know that the backend of Arica’s Bureau of Religious Affairs is the Sanctuary of Light?”
In fact, Stuart had only learned this a couple of days ago.
Arica has no dedicated laws and regulations concerning religious groups.
The governnt manages religious groups according to principles and provisions that apply to them within general laws.
This is how the Bureau of Religious Affairs, a semi-civilian and semi-official administrative body, ca into being.
The main role of the Bureau of Religious Affairs is to keep record files of religious groups.
When a religious group is involved in illegal activities, the Bureau participates in so investigation but has no adjudicative power.
Therefore, this departnt doesn’t have much authority.
However, new sects must register with the Bureau of Religious Affairs.
Only sects approved by the Bureau have the right to preach legally.
When Stuart received this information, he was utterly shocked.
After all, these religions included many Cults hostile to the Holy Lord.
The Sanctuary of Light actually ignored this and allowed these sects to arise.
To Stuart, this was simply inconceivable.
“What!”
Adams exclaid in surprise, bewildered by this revelation, a glint of panic passing through his eyes.
Adams glanced around suspiciously, feeling as if experts from the Temple were lurking nearby.
“Don’t worry. No one besides will know you are here.”
“You an…”
Stuart sneered, “With so many sects in Arica, do you think the Temple would focus on your insignificant Salvation Society?”
The highest manager of the Bureau of Religious Affairs is just an insignificant divine servant, not even qualified to pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain.
The thought that the Sanctuary of Light allowed so many cults to develop made Stuart furious, but then his eyes dimd and he mocked himself, “What right do I, a Fallen, have to be discontent.”
“Mr. Stuart, what about now?”
Stuart exclaid, “Don’t call Stuart.”
That na used to be an honor for him, but now it was a disgrace as a Fallen.
“Then how should I address you?”
“Cleaner.”
Beneath Stuart’s calm appearance, there was a hidden fervor.
“I am willing to be my Lord’s Cleaner, sweeping away all falsehoods in the world, all traitorous foes who act under your na to commit devilry.”
“Alright, Mr. Cleaner. What do you plan to do next?”
“Weren’t you inviting to join the Salvation Society? I agree.”
“Really!”
Adams exclaid with joy and then cald himself, “Mr. Cleaner, maybe we should just forget about it?”
“Why?”
“This… this…”
Adams hesitated, unsure whether to voice his thoughts.
“Are you still worried that the Sanctuary of Light will send soone to silence you?”
Adams remained silent, using it as his answer; he knew he underestimated the Sanctuary of Light’s power.
In Adams’ eyes, Stuart was already as strong as a Heavenly God, yet dozens appeared that day.
Adams couldn’t distinguish between ordinary Paladins and Starlight Knights, only judging by their armor.
Moreover, the Sanctuary of Light controlled the Bureau of Religious Affairs.
That was what troubled Adams the most, having submitted all the materials when registering the Salvation Society.
Submitting was unavoidable; inspectors from the Bureau would co to verify that a certain number of followers and a fixed location were required for teaching.
At the ti, Adams, unaware of this, filled out everything truthfully.
Now that all of it had been exposed, how could Adams not be afraid?
The fear that the Sanctuary of Light might target his insignificant group was terrifying.
“I can assure you…”
Listening to Stuart, Adams pouted disdainfully; such assurance was useless.
Neither wealth nor power mattered; in the face of the Sanctuary of Light’s supernatural powers, he was as fragile as a re chicken.
Initially, Adams thought he was comforting himself, but Stuart’s next words made Adams’ hair stand on end.
Stuart said coldly, “The Sanctuary of Light will undoubtedly silence you.”
Adams shivered, “Why… why is that?”
“Never mind the secrets you’ve learned you shouldn’t have.”
With a complex expression, Stuart said, “When have you ever heard of a scandal in the Temple?”
“I honestly haven’t.”
Adams shook his head; there were scandals in churches elsewhere, but never in the Sanctuary of Light.
At that mont, Adams realized sothing, his face filled with shock, “Could such things have happened but were covered up by the Temple?”
“It’s good you understand.”
Stuart sneered, “Now you should understand your situation.”
Adams smiled bitterly, “In that case, I’m dood.”
“No surprise, the Black Robe of the Temple has already started to act.”
If soone from the Temple were here, they would understand who Stuart referred to as the Black Robe.
In the Sanctuary of Light, only mbers of the Tribunal cloaked themselves in a gown, exposing only their eyes.
“I understand.”
As Adams spoke, he gave Stuart a aningful look.
“What do you understand?”
“From the beginning, you ntioned the Sanctuary of Light, rather than the Temple.”
As soone from the Sanctuary of Light, under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t use such a formal term.
Unless intending to draw a clear line with the other party.
Moreover, Stuart previously ntioned killing his companions and comrades.
With that, Adams understood everything.
Covered in blood, Stuart had betrayed the Sanctuary of Light, or at least had serious conflicts with the Temple.
Stuart asked again, “What do you understand?”
Under those intimidating eyes, Adams felt a chill in his heart, daring not to voice his speculation.
“Seeing that you understand.”
Stuart’s eyes were deep.
Adams’ guess was correct; he had indeed beco a traitor to the Sanctuary of Light. Those who died under his sword included not only forr comrades but also his ntor.
The story traces back to when Stuart and Hilde returned to Mount of Light.
