Chapter 1803: Chapter 1792: The Heartless Phone Call

When she realized it was a public telephone booth, even Alice, in her innocence, sensed sothing was wrong.

Ning Fan’s actions clearly indicated he didn’t want to see her and the others anymore.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have sent Bick with a ssage about leaving.

“Does he not want to see ?”

Hearing Alice’s listless murmur, Audrey consoled her, “Of course not. Alice, you’re so adorable, many boys wish they could see you. I think he just has sothing urgent to attend to.”

“Really?”

Alice was a bit skeptical. Could there really be sothing so urgent that he couldn’t spare even a mont to et?

“Of course it’s true. Didn’t Duke Andrew leave without even a word of goodbye?”

This morning, Andrew had hastily used a teleportation spell to leave the Emperor’s Pavilion, the situation so urgent that he didn’t even have ti to say farewell to Alice.

“It seems the changes at the Sanctuary of Light are significant, even alarming the entire Alien Clan.”

Audrey only caught snippets of information as she watched Andrew disappear.

“Alice, don’t think too much. Sotis n get busy like this.”

Though she said this, Audrey was still a bit worried, “Ning Fan, you petty man, leaving without even a eting—clearly he’s angry.”

In the few days spent with Alice, Audrey had discerned what had transpired that day.

On the surface, it seed Alice ignored advice and insisted on leaving, leading to a disaster.

But in the eyes of a Blood Clan mber who’s lived for over a thousand years, and a female no less, Audrey saw sothing different.

To Audrey, Ning Fan surely had feelings for Alice; otherwise, he wouldn’t risk his life to save her.

Friends, even the best of friends, wouldn’t necessarily go that far.

Unfortunately, Alice, the little fool, had said things too definitively, especially since Ning Fan was aware of Adams’ existence.

This proud man, naturally, wouldn’t reveal his feelings.

“If Ning Fan knew Alice was in danger because of Adams, it’s understandable why he’d be angry and avoid seeing her.”

The news of Adams being alive had already reached the Blood Clan.

After all, Alice’s attack was a major event, and the Morgan Family would surely investigate every clue.

The telephone interview published in the Manhattan Morning News definitely caught the Blood Clan’s attention.

Yet Adams was too cunning; the Blood Clan still hadn’t located him.

Audrey was almost certain that Ning Fan decided to avoid Alice after seeing that news.

However, such words were not suitable to tell Alice, lest the simple girl be devastated.

Looking at Alice’s weary face, Audrey silently disapproved, “That heartless man, didn’t he consider that Alice might have other reasons for eting that scoundrel?”

A troubled Alice asked again, “Auntie Audrey, is Ning Fan really not avoiding because he’s angry?”

“Of course not!”

Audrey confidently reassured, “Think about it, if Ning Fan was angry, he wouldn’t have sent Bick with a ssage.”

Alice said with doubt, “But he could have called !”

“Well… since you two have been together for a long ti, he probably seldom contacted you by phone and forgot your number. After all, Bick is his driver.”

Listening to Audrey’s flawed lies, Alice seed to believe and hesitantly nodded, “It seems that way.”

“It must be like that.”

Audrey gave an awkward smile, realizing the flaw in her words.

Ning Fan’s deliberate use of a public telephone booth was an issue that couldn’t be sidestepped.

Fortunately, Alice didn’t notice this point, or else it would have been revealed.

“So where is he now?”

Alice gazed longingly out the window, surveying the ant-like pedestrians below, seemingly trying to spot Ning Fan among them.

“That petty man.”

Audrey’s eyes flashed with dissatisfaction again. She had long considered Alice as her own daughter and naturally did not want to see her suffer.

“Don’t worry. We will find him.”

“Really?”

Noticing the strong anticipation in Alice’s eyes, Audrey panicked a little and unnaturally said, “Even if we can’t see him this ti, when he cos to Arica for the committee eting, you can et then.”

“Yes!”

Alice’s eyes lit up, showing a bit more spirit, yet she still looked listless.

“Alice, you rest first. Auntie will be stepping out for a while.”

Outside the door, Murphy and the others were already waiting.

Audrey casually asked, “How’s the investigation going?”

As soon as she spoke, a shimr of magical power created a soundproof barrier.

Murphy said, “We’ve found Mr. Ning and are preparing to inform the young miss.”

“Don’t inform her for now.”

Murphy was taken aback and hesitantly said, “But…”

“Let handle this first.”

Audrey reminded, “Didn’t Duke Andrew instruct you to follow my orders before leaving?”

“I wouldn’t dare.”

Audrey said calmly, “First, tell his whereabouts. Once I et with Ning Fan, I’ll decide whether or not to inform Alice.”

To Audrey, it was like a little lovers’ quarrel.

Ning Fan is that petty big man, and Alice isn’t good with words.

If they were to et at this crucial mont and had a poor conversation, it could easily end badly.

It’s better if she first explores Ning Fan’s sentints and speaks the truth.

This way, Alice can avoid being hurt again.

“As you command!”

“While I am away, Alice will be under your protection.”

“I will not let the previous incident repeat itself.”

Audrey shook her head, “It’s not your fault. In reality, no one ever blad you all.”

Though the issue indeed had nothing to do with them, Murphy was still troubled.

On the day the Blood Clan eting ended, Murphy and others could have arrived that day, but they felt there was only a day’s gap and were a bit careless.

It was precisely this carelessness that led to the tragedy.

“Go fetch that black driver to lead the way.”

In the taxi, Bick kept his mouth shut, seemingly afraid to even breathe.

A Duke-level Blood Clan mber, even without exerting pressure, has a unique intimidating aura like Audrey’s cool aura.

Especially that day, Bick had seen countless people bow in homage to this woman.

In Bick’s mind, only significant figures possess such charisma and are not soone he could casually engage with.

“You stay in the car and wait for .”

Audrey had a fallback plan. If the conversation with Ning Fan didn’t go well, Bick and the others could step in to ease the tension.

“This woman is terrifying. Every ti she looks at , I feel as if I’m not wearing clothes.”

Bick scratched his head, speaking seriously, “Mary, I think this woman, just like you, is not human.”
