Chapter 980: Chapter 969: Let Us Go

The two n sitting in the corner had been trailing Baby Hai for several days. They were two of the fugitives she had ntioned before.

They hadn’t fled Zhonghai but were waiting for an opportunity to act, seeking revenge against Baby Hai.

This aligned closely with Baby Hai’s analysis. While they did want to take revenge on the party involved, their target wasn’t Ning Fan—it was Baby Hai.

“No way, that man is still here! If we act now, it’s like asking to get killed!”

Compared to the one advocating imdiate action, the other man was far more composed.

They’d co here to exact revenge on Baby Hai, not Ning Fan. He knew very well that things would turn out differently depending on whether Ning Fan was present or not. This was simply not the right ti to make a move.

“Tiger, this isn’t like you. What are you afraid of that guy for? I don’t believe he’s really all that impressive. Besides, we’ve got people outside, and it’s just the two of them in here!”

The man pushing for action clearly disagreed with Tiger. In his view, they had the numbers advantage and didn’t need to fear Ning Fan and Baby Hai.

“And we’ve got guns, haven’t we? Look at that woman—she’s on the phone right now. I think she’s realized who we are. If we don’t act soon, we’ll lose our chance. What are we even doing here if not for revenge?!”

The man kept trying to persuade Tiger, insisting that if they didn’t act now, they’d never get another opportunity.

Yet Tiger was still hesitant. After a few seconds, he even suggested, “How about… we just leave for now?”

“Tiger?!”

His subordinate stared at him in disbelief. He hadn’t expected Tiger to back down and even suggest leaving!

anwhile, Baby Hai had followed Ning Fan’s instructions, though she didn’t fully understand their purpose. She turned to Ning Fan again, waiting for his next directive.

“Hmm?”

Baby Hai glanced over at Ning Fan, only to see him raise a finger and point at her. To be precise, he was pointing at her right side—towards where Tiger was.

Instinctively, Baby Hai looked in the direction Ning Fan was pointing. Imdiately, she spotted two suspicious figures.

Seeing Baby Hai turn toward them, one of Tiger’s n panicked and stood up abruptly. “Tiger, she’s looking at us! We’ve been found out! Damn it, let’s take them down now!”

“Calm down! What do you think you’re doing?!”

Tiger glared and shouted, but he was too slow. The other man had already pulled a handgun out from under his coat and raised it, aiming directly at Baby Hai!

When Baby Hai caught sight of the weapon, her reaction was swift. She imdiately shouted, “I’m a police officer! Everyone, get down!”

As she spoke, Baby Hai reached behind her, preparing to draw her own firearm.

“You bitch! Die!”

Tiger’s subordinate bellowed venomously as he pulled the trigger without hesitation.

BANG!

“Aaaahhh!”

The shop erupted into screams; countless people clutched their heads and ducked under tables.

“Aaaahhh, my hand, my hand!”

But what shocked everyone was not that anyone had been hit. Instead, the shooter’s hand had been struck: a chopstick had pierced through the back of his hand, causing blood to gush out profusely.

Tiger froze at the sight, instinctively standing up and glaring over at Ning Fan in the distance.

Noticing Tiger’s gaze, Ning Fan waved casually and made a throat-slitting gesture, flashing a cruel smile.

“Damn it!”

Tiger gritted his teeth. Ignoring his injured subordinate, he yanked a handgun from his side and grabbed a nearby custor as a hostage.

“Listen up, everyone! Let us go, or this person dies with us!”

Holding a pregnant woman tightly, Tiger pressed the gun to her head.

“Help!!!”

The pregnant woman scread in terror, her face consud with panic as she looked desperately at Baby Hai.

Baby Hai’s expression darkened. She raised her own weapon and shouted at Tiger, “Let her go!”

“Move it! We’re leaving!”

Tiger completely ignored Baby Hai, dragging the pregnant woman toward the shop’s entrance while yelling at his injured subordinate, who was still crying out in pain.

“Tiger!!!”

At that mont, three or four masked n burst into the shop, all carrying handguns. They seed to have been ready and waiting.

As soon as they entered, they pointed their weapons straight at Baby Hai in unison.

“Get moving! Get out!”

Tiger shouted urgently, but his voice left the masked n confused. They were here to kill—why was Tiger telling them to leave?

While they hesitated, Ning Fan silently stood up, appearing by Baby Hai’s side without anyone noticing.

“You’re clever, I’ll give you that,” Ning Fan said, taking two steps forward to block Tiger’s path. “But do you know sothing? I hate being threatened—especially when you use defenseless won as leverage. More so when it’s a pregnant woman.”

The tension in the shop beca suffocating. The ordinary custors didn’t dare breathe while Tiger and his n were visibly rattled.

“Don’t provoke him!”

Baby Hai whispered urgently, fearing Tiger might harm the hostage if he lost control. If sothing happened to the pregnant woman, it would be a tragedy—two lives lost at once. No one wanted that outco.

Ning Fan nodded and gave Baby Hai a reassuring glance. If he dared step forward and confront Tiger directly, it ant he had a plan to save both the woman and subdue his opponents.

“Ning Fan, I know you. We’ve stayed out of each other’s way until now. You started this by coming after us—it didn’t have to be this way. Let us go, and it’ll be better for everyone!”

In a surprising turn, Tiger backed down, leaving his n puzzled. This wasn’t what they had co here for.

From the start, Tiger hadn’t planned to confront Ning Fan. His sole target had always been Baby Hai.

Ning Fan sneered coldly. “I’m just curious—are you really not afraid to die? Why, after becoming fugitives, would you dare to show your faces again?”

If Tiger and his crew had chosen to flee Zhonghai, it wouldn’t have been impossible. With their skills, they could evade capture long enough to leave the country, where they’d be free and beyond anyone’s control.

Yet they chose to stay behind for revenge on Baby Hai. It was baffling.

“Hah! I owe my boss everything—for better or worse. This woman put him behind bars. Even if it kills , I’ll make her pay!”

“Oh? Is this your so-called Jianghu code of honor?”

Ning Fan chuckled disdainfully, looking at Tiger with a trace of mockery.
