"Next, please welco the Deputy Director of the Fla Dragon Kingdom, Wang Lijiang, to speak!"
The Chairman of Wanguo Bank, Fu Lai’er, announced softly.
A portly middle-aged man stood up, offering a provocative smile towards Zhu Zhengkun across from him.
Once on stage, he began recounting his recent achievents, occasionally glancing at Zhu Zhengkun while speaking.
"...That is the work I have accomplished during this ti."
"And now, I have signed a long-term storage contract with Fla Dragon Kingdom’s Fukang Group, the Anderson Family of Ross City, and the Fulang Family."
"Of course, I won’t ntion the contracts with so small groups here; the contracts with the Anderson and Fulang Families will be transferred to the headquarters!"
Wang Lijiang once again glanced at Zhu Zhengkun, a wicked smile curling at the edge of his mouth, "Although Wanguo Bank is an international bank, as everyone knows, the large groups in the Fla Dragon Kingdom prefer to store their finances with local or Laiyin Country banks."
Wang Lijiang turned to look at a middle-aged man in a suit behind him, and the two exchanged a smile.
Continuing, Wang Lijiang said, "This ti, thanks to the favor of Chairman Wang of Fukang Group, he was willing to sign a storage contract with us. This is the first ti Wanguo Bank has signed a storage agreent with a top group of the Fla Dragon Kingdom. I must say, it’s a milestone signing. I suppose no one would object to that?"
Behind Wang Lijiang sat two n and a woman, naly the Chairman of Fukang Group, Wang Jiancheng, the Family Head of the Anderson Family, Kai Ya, and the Family Head of the Fulang Family, Ya Si.
"The contract with Fukang Group is indeed the first storage contract we at Wanguo Bank have signed with a top group from the Fla Dragon Kingdom. It can be said to be a milestone signing," acknowledged Fu Lai’er with a slight nod.
"Indeed, Director Wang has opened the doors for us to the top groups of the Fla Dragon Kingdom!"
"This is of great strategic significance!"
"Now, in the Fla Dragon Kingdom, we can also compete in the market against Laiyin Country banks!"
"Right, Director Wang has done a fine job!"
A chorus of Wanguo Bank directors offered their praise.
Pride shimred on Wang Lijiang’s face as he smugly raised his eyebrows towards Zhu Zhengkun.
Zhu Zhengkun’s expression remained calm, but his eyes betrayed a hint of concern, his hands clenched gently.
Zhu Jing, sitting beside Zhu Zhengkun, furrowed her brows, took out her cellphone for a glance, and then cast her gaze towards the conference room door. Gritting her teeth, she looked up at Wang Lijiang, defiantly saying, "Director Wang rely spoke first. If we had spoken first, then we would be the ones making the first claim!"
Everyone was montarily taken aback and turned to look at Zhu Jing.
"Jing, don’t speak!" Zhu Zhengkun whispered.
"Dad, Mr. Jiang promised he would co, and he will!" Zhu Jing asserted firmly.
Zhu Zhengkun fell silent, trusting in Jiang Chen’s word. However, his concern grew as Jiang Chen had yet to arrive, suspecting he might have been delayed by so matter.
"Oh, is that so? But why do I see no one behind Deputy Director Zhu?" Wang Lijiang glanced over Zhu Zhengkun’s shoulder, his lips curling into a mocking smile.
During the annual conference, each director had three chairs placed behind them, reserved for the delegations of the large groups they were signing contracts with. While the seats behind the other directors were occupied, only Zhu Jing sat next to Zhu Zhengkun.
Zhu Jing had co because she was afraid that no one showing up for Zhu Zhengkun would be too embarrassing. By the ti she mustered the courage to call Jiang Chen, she was already in Ross City with Zhu Zhengkun!
"Mr. Jiang will be here shortly!" Zhu Jing spoke with a hint of guilt.
Upon hearing the words "Mr. Jiang," Kai Ya’s expression changed dramatically, looking at Zhu Jing with surprise and suspicion.
"Enough!" Zhu Zhengkun interrupted Zhu Jing again and turned to look at Fu Lai’er, "President Fu Lai’er, is it my turn now?"
"Yes, please, Director Zhu Zhengkun, go ahead!" Fu Lai’er gestured for him to speak.
Zhu Zhengkun stood up calmly. When he had decided not to call Jiang Chen, he had already prepared himself for the possibility of being dismissed, which was why he didn’t bring anyone with him; otherwise, with three people, even if the group wasn’t large, there would be soone to support him.
"...This is what I have been working on recently, and all the loans outside have been fully paid off." Zhu Zhengkun said this, his eyes glancing montarily at the conference room door, a fleeting regret passing through his gaze.
When he found out that Zhu Jing had called Jiang Chen and that Jiang Chen had promised to co, he had been very happy, naturally holding on to so hope. But now, as his speech ca to an end and Jiang Chen still had not appeared, Zhu Zhengkun did not bla Jiang Chen, for he truly believed Jiang Chen was not a man to break his word!
"Director Zhu, what about the contracts with the groups you signed? Don’t tell that you haven’t signed a single reputable storage contract. If that’s the case, you really haven’t managed to accomplish anything at all!" Wang Lijiang spoke with a mocking tone, looking down on Zhu Zhengkun with disdain in his eyes.
With the Deputy Director for Yasna Continent and General Director for Fla Dragon Kingdom retiring, Wang Lijiang and Zhu Zhengkun were the most suitable candidates. However, if Zhu Zhengkun really couldn’t secure a single respectable storage contract, it would not only defeat his chances to compete for the position of Deputy Director for Yasna Continent but he might also lose his current position as the Deputy Director for Fla Dragon Kingdom!
"Director Zhu, have you finished your speech?" Fu Lai’er frowned in surprise, looking at Zhu Zhengkun, reminding him, "What about the storage contracts you signed?"
Fu Lai’er had high hopes for Zhu Zhengkun and was sowhat dissatisfied with the current situation, so he intentionally reminded Zhu Zhengkun.
"I..." Zhu Zhengkun looked up at Fu Lai’er, knowing that Fu Lai’er had always taken good care of him and was aware that he had disappointed him today, he said with full regret, "I’m sorry..."
Ding ling ling!
Suddenly, a cellphone ringtone rang out, making everyone turn their heads towards Zhu Jing.
Zhu Jing was startled and hurriedly reached for her phone to hang up, as they were supposed to silence their phones before the eting. Preoccupied with worrying about whether Jiang Chen would co or not, she had forgotten to do so.
However, upon seeing the na on the screen, Zhu Jing did not hang up the call but instead answered it excitedly, "Hello, Mr. Jiang!"
"Ms. Zhu, I’m sorry, did I oversleep? Is it still okay for to co now? I’m currently at the ground floor lobby of Wanguo Bank’s headquarters, but the staff won’t let go up!" Jiang Chen’s apologetic voice ca through the receiver.
"It’s okay, it’s okay, Mr. Jiang, I’ll co to get you!"
Zhu Jing, frantic, ran towards the door, but she suddenly stopped as she passed Fu Lai’er, bowed deeply to him, and said, "Mr. Fu Lai’er, please wait, the storage contract my father signed will be here soon!"
Without waiting for any reaction from Fu Lai’er, Zhu Jing hurried out of the conference room.
Fu Lai’er was taken aback, then turned to look at Zhu Zhengkun, "Director Zhu, do you think the person your daughter is going to et is worth waiting for?"
"Yes!"
Zhu Zhengkun nodded decisively, his eyes flashing with a fierce determination, a surely winning attitude emanating from him.
Fu Lai’er paused, then cracked a slight smile and gently nodded his head. The other directors exchanged glances and collectively fell silent.
The conference room fell into a hushed quiet.
