"It’s nothing, just a minor scratch!"

Jiang Chen flashed a smile at Lin Bingrui and shook his head.

After Lin Zhiyan finished bandaging Jiang Chen, she looked at Lin Bingrui with confusion, "Dad, how co you’re back? Weren’t you in a eting?"

"The eting had just ended when I received a report from my people that your car was being chased. I rushed back following the updates!" Lin Bingrui explained and then turned to Jiang Chen with gratitude, "Mr. Jiang, thank you. If it weren’t for you, I’m afraid..."

"No need for thanks. You should hurry and check who is behind this incident!" Jiang Chen said with a slight smile and stood up, ready to leave.

"It must be that bastard Ling Jianghai! I will not let him get away with this!" Lin Bingrui spoke angrily.

Jiang Chen shrugged his shoulders and said casually, "I won’t get involved in this matter, I’m leaving now!"

"Mr. Jiang, I’ve troubled you. Let see you out!" Lin Bingrui hastily interjected, feeling embarrassed to ask Jiang Chen to deal with Ling Jianghai. Jiang Chen had already helped him a lot, and Lin was worried that Jiang Chen would grow tired if asked to handle everything.

Lin Bingrui and his daughter saw Jiang Chen out of the Lin Family residence and had Uncle Xiang drive him back.

"Send the word, increase the pressure, and take down Ling Jianghai’s operation!" Back at ho, Lin Bingrui, with a grim face, issued the order, and Dingjing was once again rocked by conflict!

...

Early the next morning, Jiang Chen was about to drive to school.

"Jiang Chen, what are you doing?" Gong Lin stepped outside and, seeing Jiang Chen getting ready to drive, called out in surprise.

Jiang Chen paused and said in confusion, "I’m going to school. What’s the matter?"

"Your car is restricted today!" Gong Lin laughed as she looked at Jiang Chen, who had already opened the car door.

Jiang Chen blinked and, feeling bumd, closed the car door.

"I’ll take you!" Gong Lin offered with a smile.

Jiang Chen shook his head, "No need, you’re almost out of ti. Don’t you have a client to et? You go on ahead, I’ll take the subway. It’s been a while, I’ll go relive the experience!"

"Giggle, okay then!" Gong Lin laughed. She indeed had to hurry to et a client, so she didn’t insist with Jiang Chen.

Watching Gong Lin leave, Jiang Chen stepped out of the neighborhood and headed for the subway station.

Taking the subway, he arrived at University Town station, near Dingjing University, and exited the subway.

This area was where Dingjing University Town was located—a secluded spot with not many cars or pedestrians, empty and deserted. Jiang Chen walked briskly and quickly towards Dingjing University.

"Roar—"

Suddenly, a loud engine roar erupted, ferocious as a raging beast.

Jiang Chen frowned and turned to look.

A BMW car sped out of the intersection at least at ninety miles per hour, not slowing down even after taking the turn and charged straight onto the opposite lane.

Directly in front of the car, a little girl wearing a backpack and a long dress stood paralyzed with fear as the oncoming car startled her. She just stared bewildered at the BMW rushing towards her, frozen in terror.

Screech!

The car had obviously seen the little girl and a burst of frantic braking echoed. But the car was going too fast. Even though the driver was braking, it was inevitable that the car would hit the girl.

"Watch out!"

"Get out of the way, quick!"

So scattered pedestrians and students by the roadside who saw the scene shouted loudly.

Jiang Chen’s eyes narrowed, and without a thought, his figure flashed as he rushed towards the girl.

In the blink of an eye, just as the car was about to hit the little girl, Jiang Chen rushed to her side, pushed her into the nearby green belt, then stepped on the BMW’s front bumper, taking flight.

Screech!

The BMW barely stopped before hitting the curb.

"Bang—"

Jiang Chen fell from the air, landing on the BMW’s hood, and turned his head to glance inside the car.

Inside sat four young n, all with unsightly, shaken looks on their faces.

They also saw Jiang Chen looking at them, and a stocky man wearing a thick gold necklace on the driver’s seat glared fiercely at Jiang Chen.

Ignoring the man, Jiang Chen jumped down from the hood and walked into the green belt to pull the little girl up, asking softly, "Are you okay?"

"I’m fine, thank you, brother," the girl shook her head, her face pale, but she still gave Jiang Chen a sweet smile.

Jiang Chen reached out and gently patted the little girl’s head, smiling and saying, "As long as you’re okay, go on to school!"

"Okay," the little girl nodded, waved to Jiang Chen, "Goodbye, brother."

"Goodbye."

Jiang Chen smiled and waved back, then turned and walked towards Dingjing University.

"Kid, you think you can just leave? Stop right there!"

Suddenly, a shout ca, and Jiang Chen’s eyebrows rose as he turned to look.

The doors of the BMW opened, and the four n walked towards Jiang Chen, each muscular and looking at Jiang Chen with malice.

"You damaged my car, you have to pay!" The man with the gold necklace approached Jiang Chen and pointed at the hood, shouting his demand.

Jiang Chen glanced at the hood, saw the footprint and so marks, but there was no real damage.

"What’s with those guys? They nearly hit soone, and after that handso guy helped them, they’re demanding money from him. They’re so ungrateful!"

"Exactly, they’re completely unreasonable!"

Bystanders and fellow students who had seen the whole thing spoke out indignantly from the roadside.

"What are you all yelling about?" One of the n turned and bellowed at the onlookers, "When Brother Xiong handles business, all of you back off!"

"Brother Xiong?!"

"The top dog of the university town, Brother Xiong!"

"This is bad, that courageous handso guy is in trouble now!"

The faces of the people around changed, and they stepped back a few paces, those who were timid hurriedly left the scene.

Most of the students knew about this Brother Xiong; he was a local thug who, after the university town expansion and a compensatory demolition, had beco even more domineering. During the power struggles among Dingjing’s dominant forces, he had joined the ranks of one boss, and since then no one in the university town dared to provoke him.

The onlookers looked at Jiang Chen with pity, knowing Brother Xiong’s reputation. Once he targeted soone, that person would be lucky to escape with just a bruising, unless they could pay a sum that satisfied Brother Xiong. Otherwise, the young man was done for.

Helping soone had unexpectedly led to trouble; what bad luck.

But Jiang Chen showed no fear, a cold smirk playing on his lips, "What do you want to do?"

Brother Xiong looked Jiang Chen up and down dismissively, "You don’t look like soone with money. How about this, give twenty thousand yuan, and we’ll call it even!"

Twenty thousand?

Jiang Chen laughed.
