"Martial Artist?!"
"What is a Martial Artist?!"
So people still didn’t know what a martial artist was, and soone imdiately explained, "Damn, you don’t even know what a martial artist is? Do you know that the Dingjing branch of the Martial Alliance was recruiting the other day? Martial artists are like those characters in martial arts novels who know kung fu!"
"I heard that the head of the Weicheng Martial Arts School, Chen Weicheng, is just a Profound Martial Artist, but I never expected this girl to be as powerful as Master Chen!"
Gasps of astonishnt rose from the crowd at the door as several n with obviously ill intentions glanced at the girl warily and quickly abandoned their ill-conceived plans. They might not know much about martial artists, but they knew about the Weicheng Martial Arts School. They couldn’t afford to offend soone as powerful as Chen Weicheng.
The girl paused briefly, noticing Jiang Chen’s gaze. She turned her head, glanced at the crowd, and said with a smile, "Why remind them? People like them just deserve a beating!"
Jiang Chen was taken aback for a mont. He hadn’t expected the girl to have already spotted those n’s sinister plot. He couldn’t help but laugh lightly and said, "You’re quite clever, but those guys are just street ruffians. If you ss with them and you don’t cripple them in one go, the annoyance alone will bother you to death! It’s better to make them wary, so they don’t dare to provoke us."
"Mmm!" The girl nodded in agreent and suddenly bead with a smile, "Brother, you’re a good person. My na’s Fu Ling’er. What’s yours?"
"My na is Jiang Chen." Suddenly being issued a ’good guy’ card, Jiang Chen couldn’t help but smile wryly.
"Brother Jiang Chen, I’m going to go now!" Fu Ling’er waved to Jiang Chen and turned to head for the door.
"Wait a second."
A call rang out, and Chen Peiru stepped out from behind the counter. He glanced at the oil-paper wrapped bundle in Jiang Chen’s hand and turned to look at Fu Ling’er, "Young lady, you’re an herbalist from the mountains, aren’t you? What did you an by your words just now? Why did you want to sell to our shop at first, but now you’re selling to him? And you also said good dicine should be sold to soone who understands it. Are you implying I don’t know as much about dicine as he does?"
"Yeah! That ginseng was fake, and you couldn’t tell, but Brother Jiang figured it out right away. Of course, that ans he knows more about dicine than you do!" Fu Ling’er spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Nonsense, I think you’re just that boy’s accomplice! How could anyone just give money without even looking at the dicine? And two million at that? You must be kidding!" The shop manager Lin Hui imdiately jumped to his feet, pointing at Fu Ling’er and shouting angrily.
"That’s right! It’s impossible!"
"Exactly, these two must be conning people together!"
The people at the door also started shouting out in agreent.
"I’m not a swindler, Brother Jiang Chen buys dicine because he understands, and if you think I’m a swindler, it’s because you don’t understand!" Fu Ling’er’s eyes widened as she argued.
"Ling’er, there’s no need to argue with them. Facts speak louder than words," Jiang Chen said, patting Fu Ling’er’s shoulder and then unfolding the oil-paper package.
Inside the oil-paper package was a dull-colored branch with three deep purple vermillion fruits on it. Wrapped in oil paper that cut off the air, the fruits’ color remained bright, as if they had just been picked.
"Purple Fla Vermilion Fruit?!" Chen Peiru exclaid after one glance at the fruits, his gaze fixated on the vermillion fruits, unable to look away.
"What? Purple Fla Vermilion Fruit?!"
"Is that the Purple Fla Vermilion Fruit?"
"That is a legendary spiritual dicine!"
"I rember at the herbal dicine conference three years ago, a Purple Fla Vermilion Fruit sold for ten million!"
Knowledgeable people at the door gasped in shock, staring at the Vermillion Fruit in Jiang Chen’s hand.
"Ten million for one?" Jiang Chen was taken aback for a mont and then turned to look at Fu Ling’er with an apologetic expression, "That won’t do. I can’t take such a big advantage of you. I’ll give you thirty million instead!"
"There’s no need, brother. Grandpa taught that good dicines should be sold to those who appreciate them and also used in places where they are truly needed. As long as you use this dicine where it should be used, that’s enough for !" Fu Ling’er said with a smile.
Jiang Chen was startled for a mont, then nodded firmly. After thinking for a while, he took out his phone, smiled lightly, and said, "Ling’er, how about this? I’ll leave you my number, and when I need dicine in the future, I’ll co to you. But the next ti I buy from you, you must charge the market price. You can’t sell it to at a discount anymore!"
"Okay!" Fu Ling’er readily agreed, entered her number into Jiang Chen’s phone, waved goodbye, and left.
Pocketing his phone, Jiang Chen looked deeply at Fu Ling’er’s retreating figure.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to transfer the money to Fu Ling’er. He knew all too well that two million might deter so with ulterior motives, who would hesitate to act because Fu Ling’er was a Profound Martial Artist. But if it were ninety million in the hands of such a young girl, even if she were a Heavenly Peak Martial Artist, it could still tempt so to risk it all. In trying to repay the kindness, he could actually be putting her in harm’s way!
After wrapping up the oiled paper package, Jiang Chen made his way toward the entrance. There was no further need to continue browsing this store.
"Wait a mont!" Chen Peiru stepped forward, blocking Jiang Chen’s path, and stared intently at the oiled paper package in his hand; "Sell the Purple Fla Vermilion Fruit to , I will pay ten million!"
"Ten million? This young fellow only paid two million and now can sell it for ten million; he’s making a fortune!"
"Making a fortune? Three Purple Fla Vermilion Fruits are worth thirty million. Chen only offers ten million for them, this..."
The crowd at the door began to mutter softly among themselves.
Jiang Chen looked at Chen Peiru indifferently and said scornfully, "Not selling it. I’m not lacking that bit of money."
"You... you’ve made a scene in my store all day just to leave like this? You’ve damaged the reputation of my store, and you must make compensation!" Chen Peiru’s eyes shifted, and he spoke in a low, stern voice, "Leave the Vermillion Fruit as compensation!"
Jiang Chen sneered coldly, "Chen, is this how you earned the reputation of being Dingjing’s dicine King, by seizing things through force?"
"You..." Chen Peiru’s face reddened, and he stared at Jiang Chen, frustrated and said, "You claid my Century Ginseng King is fake. Bring out the proof; otherwise, you’re just slandering my store’s reputation."
"I told you the thod to verify it, but you’re the one refusing to do it," Jiang Chen said indifferently.
Seeing his boss at a loss for words, Lin Hui’s eyes darted around, and he shouted out, "You’re intentionally trying to damage our store’s treasure. You’re causing trouble!"
Jiang Chen frowned, turned to look at Lin Hui, and strode over to the counter. He picked up the Century Ginseng King in one swift motion.
"What are you doing?" Chen Peiru’s face went pale, and he cried out in alarm.
Crack!
Jiang Chen applied force with his hand and snapped the ginseng in two, presenting the broken end to the crowd at the door, and shouted, "Chen, take a good look. Is this a Century Ginseng King?"
"How... How could this be?!" Chen Peiru, looking at the broken ginseng in Jiang Chen’s hands, had his face turn ashen with utter shock.
