It was obvious. These were the very sa lower-class peasants, these country bumpkins he despised, who had by so dog-shit luck managed to climb right over his head. They even had the gall to look down on his Old Chen Family, all because they had Old Master Xu's backing. How could the flas of jealousy not rage within him?
What was his status? His position? When had he, Chen Weishan, ever suffered such humiliation? To be lorded over by two low-class peasants. For an arrogant, high-society man like him, it was simply unacceptable.
And what he found even more intolerable now was that this bitch, this country bumpkin, dared to be so utterly unappreciative! She refused his demands and even had the audacity to oppose the Old Chen Family! This was simply intolerable!
"Dad, what do we do now? That bitch actually dares to be so ungrateful. I'll deal with her sooner or later. But if they don't go and beg Old Master Xu to intervene, then this seat I'm in..." A venomous glint flashed in Chen Weishan's eyes, still fixated on his position.
"Position? What damn position! If Old Master Xu isn't willing to get involved, then with all the crap you've pulled over the years, the most I can do is ensure you step down safely. If it were anyone else, they would have been locked up by now, not flaunting around like you are," Chen Huaqin said over the phone, his voice laced with disappointnt.
"Dad, what are you saying? I'm your son! How can you compare with those outsiders? Besides, what right do they have to be compared to ? I don't care, Dad. It's no big deal to if I'm really dismissed, but what about you? Won't you lose face?" Chen Weishan imdiately retorted.
"Alright, since you've already failed, just co back for now. We'll talk then…" Chen Huaqin's exasperated voice ca through the phone.
But just then, the powerful wail of engines tore through the air nearby! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!
In the next mont, several intimidating, military-green off-road vehicles boxed their car in on the edge of the highway, forcing them to a halt.
"GULP… Grandfather Chen, they... they seem to be coming for us," a bodyguard in the Bentley said, swallowing hard. His face was a mask of shock and panic. One look at those green off-road vehicles and he knew where they were from; it was the sa world they operated in. But why are these people chasing us?!
"Wha-what?!" The color drained from Chen Weishan's face. He had seen vehicles like these since he was a child and knew exactly what they represented.
"Weishan, what's going on? Why is it suddenly so noisy over there!?" Just then, Chen Huaqin yelled into the phone at his son. A sudden, piercingly loud noise had erupted from the other end of the line while he was talking. It was vaguely familiar and filled him with a sudden, deep sense of unease.
"Dad, Dad, it's… soone's co to arrest us," Chen Weishan stamred, his forehead slick with sweat.
"Arrest you? What do you an? Speak clearly!" Chen Huaqin's expression hardened as he demanded an answer.
"Military… military off-roaders forced us to stop. Dad, what should I do? Why… why is this happening?" Chen Weishan said, his face turning pale.
"What? Military off-roaders?!" On the other end of the line, Chen Huaqin shot up from his seat.
At that sa instant, a cold command blared from a loudspeaker through the phone's receiver: *"You in the Bentley! Get out of the car and surrender imdiately, or you will face the consequences!"*
Inside the Bentley, Chen Weishan was deathly pale. His face was a picture of terror, and his lips trembled uncontrollably. He didn't stop the car, instead pleading frantically to his father over the phone, "Dad, what-what should I do now? Those guys are ordering us to stop."
"Ignore them. I refuse to believe they'd dare to take direct action!" Chen Huaqin declared after a mont's thought.
In his mind, the national highway was packed with traffic. Not even soone with his background would dare to cause a scene like this. The other party was surely the sa. This display had to be nothing more than an empty threat to scare them. There was no need to be afraid.
anwhile, in one of the vehicles ahead, a mber of Flying Leopard dressed in camouflage was on his phone. "Director Wang, they're not responding!"
"No response?" Wang Dashan's voice ca back, devoid of emotion. "Smash the car."
"Yes, sir!"
Receiving permission, the mber of Flying Leopard couldn't stop a cold smirk from spreading across his face.
BANG! BANG! BANG! In a matter of seconds, a group of n sward out of the green off-roaders and began smashing the Bentley.
"Get out of the car!"
Just then, soldiers carrying rifles jumped down from a helicopter hovering overhead. One of them viciously smashed the car window with the butt of his rifle. Although the glass didn't break, the act scared the absolute hell out of the n inside. One by one, they raised their hands high, shakily stepping out of the Bentley. They put their hands on their heads and crouched down by the side of the road.
Even though they were all n who had seen their share of intense situations, today's scene had thoroughly terrified them. God knows who these guys are or what insane fit they're throwing to actually go this far! Who gave the order? Who's taking responsibility for this?
"Who is Chen Weishan!?" a cold voice demanded as several n erged from the last off-road vehicle.
SWISH!
Instantly, every black-clad bodyguard crouched by the road with his hands on his head instinctively glanced back. Their eyes all landed on Chen Weishan, whose face was already ashen.
Seeing this, the mber of Flying Leopard in camouflage sneered.
