As the dust-sealed door of the attic creaked open, Chen Fei's heart imdiately hamred in his chest. His lips felt dry, and the blood seed to slow in his veins.
There was no helping it. A Magical Treasure, the legendary existence at the absolute pinnacle of the four major grades of magic artifacts, was about to appear before his very eyes. Such a scene would undoubtedly stir up an intense and overwhelming wave of emotion. It was like an ordinary commoner suddenly winning a massive lottery, taking ho a billion-dollar jackpot. Few could face such a staggering shock with nonchalance.
Looking past the large door and into the attic, two slender ebony shelves stood there.
Each shelf had two tiers, placed in the center of the attic's first floor and clearly visible at a glance.
The first shelf held strangely shaped objects that flickered with dim lights of various colors on both tiers. A rough count revealed at least eleven or twelve items. The second shelf contained various rare materials in different colors, such as a fist-sized, blood-red Iron of Mystic Essence and a thumb-sized Blood Fiend Thunderwood.
"These are all..." Upon seeing the treasures, Chen Fei's eyes reddened slightly and his breathing quickened. With the insight he inherited from that master of the Cultivation World, he knew these were all precious, invaluable treasures. Even an ordinary Foundation Establishnt True Person Realm Expert would rarely possess such a complete and nurous collection.
As for the various objects on the first shelf, they were even more terrifying. If he wasn't mistaken, they were all powerful Mid-Grade and even Top Grade Magical Artifacts.
"GULP."
lsdom, who had followed him in, was stunned by the scene before him, swallowing subconsciously as his movents beca very slow.
Even though he was a Western Magician and shouldn't recognize these artifacts, the terrifying aura emanating from them was still palpably clear to him at this mont.
My God, what is this place? Why would so many terrifying weapons be hidden in the depths of such an unremarkable, dilapidated temple? And… and the most terrifying thing is, the chilling aura from each of these weapons seems even stronger than the Black Ruler Wenn Yongshou was holding!
Instantly, lsdom couldn't help but tremble violently as a chill shot up from the soles of his feet, racing along his spine.
His slightly bloodshot old eyes were now filled with deep fear.
After all, in his mind, weapons more terrifying than Wenn Yongshou's Black Ruler could only be the Ten Great Divine Artifacts from the history of their Western Dark World, or perhaps a Holy Artifact that was infinitesimally close to that level. But now...
It can't be possible that all dozen or so of these weapons are of that terrifying level, can it? If… if this is true, then what is this place? How is anyone supposed to live with this?
"Don't bother looking. Except for those three Top Grade Magical Artifacts, the rest are probably scrap iron. Useless and worthless. The materials, however, are still sowhat precious." Just then, Zhen Jingkong's calm voice sounded again, causing the delighted expression on Chen Fei's face to freeze.
"Scrap iron?"
With a sowhat odd and astonished expression, he looked up again at the various artifacts on the shelves. After a mont's hesitation, he slowly extended his hand to touch one.
However, just as his fingertips were about to make contact with a small, gray, hamr-shaped magic artifact, it seed to be triggered. It trembled slightly and then, with a soft rattle, crumbled apart like sand.
"What… what happened?" Chen Fei asked, startled and bewildered.
"I originally intended to extract their magic soul essence to nourish and repair my two damaged Lifebound Magic Treasures. Although I only got halfway through the process, most of their internal structures were destroyed. And now, so many years have passed..." Zhen Jingkong said indifferently. It had been a foolish thod that offered a disproportionate return, a desperate, mirage-like solution. But back then, to repair his Lifebound Magic Treasures as soon as possible, he hadn't let such concerns stop him.
"This..." Upon hearing this, Chen Fei's expression stiffened in disappointnt. He understood what Zhen Jingkong was saying, but still…
"Doesn't that an this whole pile has beco as fragile as glass? Fine if you don't touch them, but they'll shatter the mont you do?" Chen Fei finally said, utterly frustrated. So many Mid-Grade, and even Top Grade Magical Artifacts, gone before he could even get his hands on them. Anyone else would likely have been fuming for a good long while.
Still, this man truly lived up to his reputation as a powerful figure who had been infinitely close to becoming a Great Formation Master. It seed he simply didn't care for ordinary Mid-Grade and Top Grade Magical Artifacts. This entire pile was about to be written off as scrap, yet he didn't seem to feel the slightest bit of pain, acting as if nothing had happened. Indeed, there was a vast gap between people, especially between his own Qi Refining Realm and the other man's Half-Step Grand Formation Master status... they simply weren't on the sa level.
"Those Mid-Grade Magical Artifacts are almost all ruined, but there are three Top Grade Magical Artifacts that seem usable."
Zhen Jingkong's voice sounded once more, finally bringing a smile back to Chen Fei's face. He imdiately asked, "There are three Top Grade Magical Artifacts? Which three?"
"There. That broken axe, the demonic puppet, and that inkstone that looks like a brick. However, I advise you not to get your hopes up about those three. First, with your current cultivation level, you simply cannot use Top Grade Magical Artifacts. Second, after so many mishaps, even though I didn't completely ruin them, their power has weakened imnsely. I estimate that these three items are now, at most, only slightly stronger than Mid-Grade Magical Artifacts and can't compare at all to ordinary Top Grade Magical Artifacts," Zhen Jingkong added as a reminder.
He could understand Chen Fei's current excitent, but the problem was, in his opinion, those three items were truly of little use anymore.
In fact, to him, those three pieces of 'scrap iron' were probably less attractive than the rare materials on the shelf next to them.
But Zhen Jingkong failed to consider the perspective from which he viewed the matter. So what if the three Top Grade Magical Artifacts had degraded to the point where they were only slightly more powerful than Mid-Grade Magical Artifacts? Could they really be called scrap iron? One mustn't forget that our Young Master Chen, after emptying his pockets, only possessed a single Mystic Stone Mirror!
The point is, it was still incredibly impressive...
So, upon hearing Zhen Jingkong's words, Chen Fei simply rolled his eyes before turning to look enthusiastically at the three objects he had ntioned.
The "broken axe" Zhen Jingkong spoke of was a gray stone axe about the size of a palm, its surface shimring with a dazzling brilliance. Just looking at it, he could feel a strong sense of oppression. It felt as if the axe could cleave him in two were it to strike, leaving him a split corpse on the spot.
The puppet, by comparison, appeared much more ordinary. It resembled a miniaturized wooden doll covered in faint, lifelike patterns. As for the inkstone, it looked just like a large brick, yet it gave the impression that a single, forceful strike could smash a small mountain to pieces.
Instantly, our Young Master Chen's heart began to thump excitedly as a gleam flashed through his eyes.
