Chen Fei smiled at the words but didn't reply. Seeing this, Lin Moxin gave a strained, awkward smile in return. Coming back to his senses, he realized it probably wasn't appropriate for him to ask such a question. Even if Chen Fei was a bit arrogant, what did it matter when it was backed by his astonishing ability to fight opponents above his level?
If I were as interested in Alchemy as he is, I probably wouldn't appreciate being questioned like that either, would I?
With this thought, he quickly turned to the gray-clad shop assistant and asked, "Do you have any Snow Spirit Liquid and Demon Cores?" Demon Cores from Second Level Early Stage Demon Beasts, as well as Snow Spirit Liquid, were extrely valuable items. Even Twin Rain Tower might not always have them in stock.
"Young Master, I'm not quite sure... Shall I go ask the shopkeeper?" the assistant imdiately replied in a low voice. At his rank, he naturally lacked the authority to manage or access such precious Alchemy Materials.
"Yes, go quickly," Lin Moxin nodded.
The assistant bowed deeply to Lin Moxin and Chen Fei before hurrying off toward the back area of the main hall.
A mont later, a middle-aged man in a striking red robe with a scruffy beard hurried back with the assistant.
He raised his hands in a polite gesture toward Lin Moxin and Chen Fei, a broad smile on his face. "Young Master, and esteed guest, hello..."
However, before he could finish, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, cut him off, asking softly, "Do you have the items I requested?"
"Esteed guest, you've co at just the right ti!"
Upon hearing Chen Fei's question, the scruffy-bearded man's smile widened. "Normally, these two items are extrely rare. Even for us at Twin Rain Tower, sourcing them requires making arrangents with the Azure Dragon Ravine well in advance. However, you're in luck. A previous client placed an order for them but suddenly disappeared without a trace..."
"Bring the items here," the scruffy-bearded man said, gesturing to the gray-clad assistant behind him.
"Yes, Shopkeeper..." The assistant quickly ca forward, holding a tray with both hands. It was covered with a perfectly-sized square of brocade cloth.
"Please have a look, guest."
WHOOSH!
The scruffy-bearded man swiftly lifted the cloth from the tray. A dense wave of Demon Qi, so cold it was startling, rushed out. Yet, mixed within it was an enticing fragrance that imdiately drew Chen Fei's gaze.
On the tray, two caskets sat side-by-side, radiating a faint luster. They were remarkably carved from the earthy Supre Jade of Mount Huang, an item of considerable value in itself.
In the casket on the left lay six fist-sized Demon Cores—one red and five gray. They rested quietly, a faint fluctuation of Demon Qi still clinging to their surfaces, the source of the chilling aura from before.
In the casket on the right was a dium-sized bottle crafted from so unknown, exquisite jade ore that emitted a soft glow. It contained a small amount of a clear, water-like liquid. Even through the bottle, a peculiar chill seeped out, an extraordinary and eye-catching phenonon.
So these are the two items. It seems my luck is indeed good.
Upon seeing the six Demon Beast cores and the small bottle of Snow Spirit Liquid emitting its strange cold, Chen Fei's eyes lit up. He looked up at the scruffy-bearded shopkeeper of Twin Rain Tower and asked, "What's the price for these?"
"These items are not cheap," the bearded shopkeeper said with a grin.
"I know," Chen Fei said patiently, his brows furrowing slightly.
Seeing this, Lin Moxin stepped in to help. "Uncle Ye, stop beating around the bush. Just tell us the price."
"Haha, alright, alright. Since you put it that way, I'll be direct. These items... will cost at least this much." The bearded shopkeeper chuckled, but then his expression turned serious. Wasting no more words, he held up both hands, showing seven fingers.
Seven hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones!?
At this, Chen Fei's brows furrowed. The price wasn't too high... but it seed he didn't have that much on hand.
"Seven hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones? That's a lot!" Lin Moxin was also taken aback. Such a sum would be difficult for even him to produce on the spot. Even if he could, he wasn't sure he would be willing to make such a painful sacrifice.
For any Cultivator below the Qi Refining Ninth Layer, seven hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones was an imnse sum, not sothing one could easily part with.
At least, that was the case in the Eagle Gorge Area.
"Expensive?"
The scruffy-bearded shopkeeper simply smiled and looked at Lin Moxin. "Young Lord, you must understand, just obtaining these six Demon Cores required killing five Second Level Early Stage Demon Beasts and one Second Stage Middle Period Demon Beast. That's not even counting the small bottle of Snow Spirit Liquid. A single dose of this liquid can increase the Cultivation Level of even a Powerhouse of Qi Refining Ninth Layer upon first use. So, for Twin Rain Tower to ask only seven hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones is truly not expensive."
He then turned his smiling face to Chen Fei. "What do you think, sir?"
"Indeed, it's not expensive," Chen Fei calmly replied. He then took out the Mid-Grade Black Cloud Axe Magical Artifact and handed it to the shopkeeper with a neutral expression. "Your Twin Rain Tower buys items like this axe, correct? How many Low Grade Spirit Stones can it cover?"
"This is... Sir, please wait a mont."
The shopkeeper only needed a single glance at the Black Cloud Axe to seemingly recognize its origin. His eyes widened slightly in shock. After shooting another quick look at Chen Fei, he took the axe and began to examine it carefully.
Chen Fei waited quietly without a word.
After a mont, the shopkeeper slowly raised his head, his expression now formal. "This Black Cloud Axe is sowhat more powerful than ordinary Mid-Grade Magical Artifacts. In pristine condition, Twin Rain Tower would offer four hundred and fifty Low Grade Spirit Stones for it. However, it appears to be slightly damaged, so we can only offer around four hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones. What do you think, sir?"
"Deal."
Chen Fei nodded without hesitation. He then produced a palm-sized gray pouch, from which he took out another three hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones and placed them on the counter. "Seven hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones. Now we're even, right?"
"Ah, yes... correct. These items are now yours, sir."
The shopkeeper was clearly not expecting Chen Fei to be so decisive. In just a few words, he had willingly parted with such a powerful Mid-Grade Magical Artifact and a full three hundred Low Grade Spirit Stones.
However, as the shopkeeper of such a large establishnt, the scruffy-bearded middle-aged man reacted with extre speed. He glanced briefly at the Spirit Stones, a wide smile spreading across his face, then took the tray holding the Demon Cores and Snow Spirit Liquid from his assistant to hand to Chen Fei.
"Mm," Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, nodded slightly and reached for the tray.
WHOOSH!
But at that very mont, a hand shot out from behind with incredible speed, bypassing Chen Fei to grab for the tray in the shopkeeper's hands.
Simultaneously, a faint, aged voice rang out.
"Wait. I'll take that Snow Spirit Liquid."
As the voice sounded, a hand, withered like a chicken's claw, shot out like a lightning bolt. It lunged for the tray, or more precisely, for the small bottle of Snow Spirit Liquid upon it!
Its speed was like a thunderclap, catching everyone off guard.
Under these circumstances, an ordinary person would likely have been unable to react, forced to watch helplessly as the item was snatched away.
However, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was clearly not in the category of 'ordinary people.'
In fact, the mont the faint, aged voice sounded and the withered, claw-like hand appeared, Chen Fei's pitch-black eyes, as clear as glazed glass, suddenly darkened. A sharpness like a blade's edge—exceedingly cold—surged within them.
BOOM!
In the next instant, a fierce and scorching wave of terrifying Sword Qi was fully infused into his palm, forming it into a hand-blade that glowed with a brilliant, fiery light and exuded a shocking, fearso aura!
He then slashed down fiercely with the hand-blade, unleashing a spectacular radiance!
Clearly, this was no half-hearted attack from Chen Fei, Young Master Chen; it was infused with his full power! If this hand-blade were to connect, even an ordinary Mid-Grade Magical Artifact would be instantly and severely damaged.
After all, Chen Fei's physical strength had reached a level comparable to a peak Low-Grade Magic Artifact after the Baptism of Fourfold Thunder Tribulation of Illusion! What ordinary Cultivator could possibly withstand, let alone match, such terrifying physical power?
"What?"
As Chen Fei's fierce hand-blade slashed down, a slightly surprised voice sounded from behind him. Evidently, the assailant was startled by Chen Fei's decisive and sharp counterattack.
With his cultivation level and strength, he wouldn't normally have given such an attack a second thought. But to be caught barehanded and unprepared like this would still be troubleso...
