Seeing the boss’s expression, which suggested he was on the verge of bankruptcy, An Dongye consoled him, "Relax, Boss. I know how to handle myself; I definitely won’t break anything in your place. Just hurry up and bring the food, I’m starving."
"You haven’t even ordered yet," the boss said with a grim face.
"Oh!" An Dongye picked up the nu and rattled off a long list of items. "Bring it out quick. And also, bring two cases of beer over."
"Alright, please wait a mont!" The boss forced a smile and scurried to the kitchen to tell the chef to prepare Ye Xiu’s order first, hoping they would eat quickly and leave.
Ye Xiu was dumbfounded. "The two of us are going to drink two cases of beer?"
"What? Scared I’ll get drunk?" An Dongye boasted. "Don’t worry. Even if I drink all the beer, white wine, and red wine in this entire restaurant, I won’t get drunk. I practically grew up swimming in booze."
Ye Xiu was speechless.
Just keep bragging. It’s not like they tax you for it.
He asked, "Have you robbed people often?"
"Robbed? Who did I rob? I was borrowing money. I’ll pay it back when I have so," An Dongye said earnestly.
Ye Xiu scoffed. "Borrow money by beating soone up like that?"
"I was just proving to him that I have the ability to pay it back," An Dongye retorted.
Ye Xiu’s mouth twitched. "Back at the dorm... if I hadn’t lent you the money, would you have beaten up, too?"
An Dongye let out an awkward cough. "We’re buddies! How could I possibly hit you? Heh heh, no way."
Ye Xiu’s face darkened.
I knew it! If I hadn’t lent her the money back then, this girl really would have resorted to violence.
"Since you consider a buddy, let give you so advice. What you’re doing is robbery," Ye Xiu said seriously.
"I’m robbing from the rich to aid the poor," An Dongye argued.
"Are you saying you gave all the money you robbed to poor people?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Yep!" An Dongye nodded.
"Who did you give it to?" Ye Xiu pressed.
"Myself, of course. I’m poor," she stated with righteous conviction.
Ye Xiu was speechless.
Seeing Ye Xiu taking it so seriously, An Dongye tried to persuade him. "I only rob bad people. Like that guy ng we saw earlier—you could tell he was no good just by looking at him. It’s only right to take money from people like that. Why should bad guys get to spend money while good people like suffer? Think about it. I an, *really* think about it."
Ye Xiu couldn’t be bothered to discuss the topic with her any longer.
In his twenty-six years, he had t many people with skewed morals, but soone as warped as An Dongye was a true rarity. What was the Ghost Doctor thinking when he chose his students? Could soone like An Dongye even practice dicine? God knows what this girl would do once she actually learned any dical skills.
Just then, Ye Xiu’s phone rang. The caller ID showed Qing Luan!
Ye Xiu hurriedly used the restroom as an excuse to answer the call. An Dongye was an expert, and taking the call in front of her would an she’d overhear everything.
anwhile, at the table with the tattooed youth, they noticed Ye Xiu had gone to the restroom. The tattooed youth whispered, "That woman dared to hit . You guys go beat up her man. Hit him, then run. I’ll wait for you outside the restaurant."
"Got it!" The three youths imdiately put on a nonchalant act and started walking toward the restroom.
This scene did not go unnoticed by the other diners, and amused expressions appeared on their faces. They knew exactly why three young n were heading to the restroom together, especially since they had all seen Ye Xiu go in a mont before.
Everyone’s gaze shifted to An Dongye. They saw that her head was down and she seed completely oblivious to the three n heading for the restroom. This put their minds at ease. They were eager to see how An Dongye would teach those three a lesson after Ye Xiu got beaten up.
Consequently, everyone stopped eating. All eyes were fixed on the restroom, waiting for a bruised and swollen Ye Xiu to erge. The tattooed youth, however, quickly paid his bill and went outside to wait.
Ye Xiu entered the restroom and answered the phone. "The Tiansha Association has proposed a restructuring of the global War God Ranking. They’re asking the Eight Great National Protector War Gods of Xuanse to go to Sang Jing to discuss the details, and they want us to serve as judges. Should we go?"
Qing Luan’s solemn voice ca through the phone.
Ye Xiu paused for a second, then instantly understood the Tiansha Association’s objective. This was a ploy to lure the Eight Great National Protector War Gods away from Xuanse, making it easier for Kuroki Suzu and Dragon Hollyhock to operate in Jin Ye City.
"Go," he said. "But rember, don’t let a word slip about the counterfeit Huang Quan."
"Understood!" Qing Luan replied.
After hanging up, Ye Xiu was about to leave when he saw three young n walk in.
"Hey, kid. Your woman hit ng and stole his money. What are you going to do about it?" the blond youth asked coldly, tilting his head and flexing his wrists.
"You’re not thinking of beating up, are you?" Ye Xiu asked with a smile.
"You guessed right," the blond youth gestured with his hand. "Get him!"
With that, he lunged forward, aiming a kick at Ye Xiu’s stomach. The other two youths attacked at the sa ti.
And then... it was a complete disaster for all three of them.
"Got any money on you?" Ye Xiu asked with a smile, looking down at the three young n who were curled up on the floor, twitching in pain with sweat beading on their foreheads, yet not daring to cry out.
"We do!"
The three youths’ spirits were utterly crushed.
Damn it, the woman’s a bandit, and the man is too. Are they a bandit duo or what?
Ye Xiu relieved the three youths of all their cash, washed his hands, and walked out of the restroom, only to find all the diners staring at him.
"Sorry to disappoint everyone," he said with a laugh, returning to his table and sitting down.
The diners were completely flabbergasted.
What just happened? Where’s the bruised and swollen face we were promised? Why doesn’t he have a scratch on him?
Just then, the three youths erged, their faces bruised and battered.
HISS!
The diners all sucked in a sharp breath.
HOLY COW! The guy in the mask took on three of them by himself?
"You did that?" An Dongye asked in surprise.
"Yep." Ye Xiu nodded and tossed the stolen money onto the table. "This is from those three. You can have it."
An Dongye’s eyes lit up. "Well, look at you! I had no idea you knew Kung Fu."
"Just a little," Ye Xiu said modestly.
"Since you’ve already got a foundation in Kung Fu, that makes things easy. When I have so ti, I’ll teach you so special techniques that will let you walk all over Jin Ye City. Consider this money your tuition fee," An Dongye said with the air of a big brother looking out for his junior. With that, she pocketed the money without a shred of guilt.
Ye Xiu could only manage a dry laugh.
anwhile, outside the barbecue restaurant, ng was waiting anxiously, his body tense and ready to flee at a mont’s notice. When he saw his three friends stumbling out with bruised faces, he asked in shock, "What happened?"
"That guy beat us up. He’s even tougher than the woman," the blond one said. "And he took all our money."
ng was instantly flustered. Was that couple a pair of bandits? He tried to reassure them, "I just called Tao. He’s bringing people over soon. We’ll get your money back then."
"Tao?" the three youths echoed.
The blond one asked, "Which Tao?"
