"Or else what?" Ye Xiu strode forward, grabbed Wei Renwei by the neck, and asked in an icy voice.
"Wh-what are you going to do?" Wei Renwei panicked.
"You even rob a beggar? And this was money she was raising to treat her daughter’s illness. You’re scum, utterly devoid of conscience and stopping at nothing. You don’t deserve to live in this world." A murderous intent flared up in Ye Xiu. It was irrepressible, not that he even tried to suppress it. The hand gripping Wei Renwei’s neck tightened with a sudden exertion of force, directly snapping the man’s neck.
"This..." Wei Taining’s expression changed drastically; he truly hadn’t expected Ye Xiu to dare kill soone.
The frightened bystanders all took several steps back, staring at Ye Xiu in shock. As law-abiding citizens, this was the first ti they had ever witnessed a murder in real life.
Gu ng, Nangong Yue, Bai Xi, and Wen Rubing, however, felt a thrill course through them at Ye Xiu’s actions. The more ti they spent with him, the more they realized what a charismatic man he was. He now displayed a sense of chivalry and the astonishing courage to kill Wei Renwei in the middle of the street, fearless of the Long Family.
"Your turn!" Ye Xiu said, his gaze falling upon Wei Taining.
Terrified, the hair on Wei Taining’s body stood on end. His first instinct was to run, but Liu Ying was still clinging tightly to his leg. Before he could even try to drag her along, Ye Xiu’s hand had already seized his neck.
"Don’t, Ye Liangchen! I’m... I’m part of the Long Family! If you kill , you’ll be making an enemy of the Long Family! You..." Wei Taining desperately tried to intimidate Ye Xiu with the Long Family’s na. However, Ye Xiu was deaf to his pleas. At this point, not even the Clan Leader himself could have stopped him.
Before Wei Taining could finish his sentence, Ye Xiu snapped his neck.
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd. Seeing Ye Xiu kill another man, the onlookers were shaken to their core once again. A few of the more timid ones were so scared they turned and fled.
"Everyone!" Ye Xiu scanned the crowd with a cold expression. "You watched as Liu Ying was robbed and bullied, and you just stood there gawking like it was so kind of show. Have your consciences been eaten by dogs?"
The onlookers exchanged uneasy glances.
One of them said ekly, "These days, there are fake beggars everywhere, scamming money with sob stories. They’re even more despicable than the two n you killed."
"You’re not wrong, there are many fake beggars out there," Ye Xiu retorted. "But you’re all human, you all have brains. Would a fake beggar risk their life for money? For a pittance, would they rather be beaten to death than let go of a robber’s leg? Liu Ying’s voice was filled with the weariness, despair, and terror of her life. Her pleading tone, the look in her eyes, her tears—could any of that be faked? How could you not see sothing so obvious?"
The onlookers bowed their heads in sha.
Truthfully, Ye Xiu wasn’t angry that the bystanders hadn’t saved Liu Ying; even if they had tried, they wouldn’t have been able to save her. He was angry at the current state of society—at the public apathy.
"Ma’am, please take to see your daughter," Ye Xiu said gently, helping Liu Ying to her feet.
"Wh-what are you going to do?" Liu Ying looked at Ye Xiu in terror, completely horrified by the sight of him casually killing two people.
"You’ve likely heard my na. I’m Ye Liangchen, from the Mingde Ancient dical Hall in Han Jin City," Ye Xiu reminded her.
Liu Ying and the onlookers were stunned for a mont. The news that the Mingde Ancient dical Hall was offering free treatnt for three days had already spread throughout all of Hexia Road. Few in the area hadn’t heard the great na of the Divine Doctor, Ye Liangchen.
"You... you’re the Divine Doctor, Ye Liangchen?" Liu Ying asked.
"I am," Ye Xiu nodded. "I can cure your daughter’s illness, free of charge."
"Really? Is it really true?" Liu Ying was practically delirious with excitent. "Let’s go! I’ll... I’ll take you to the hospital! Divine Doctor... my daughter... she can be saved!" she stamred, incoherent with joy.
The crowd watched Ye Xiu’s retreating figure, completely bewildered. One mont he was a ruthless killer who had snapped two n’s necks without a second thought, and the next, he was the Divine Doctor Ye Liangchen, offering to treat the sick for free.

The four of them tacitly agreed to help Ye Xiu. They were worried that if the Clan Leader found out he had killed Wei Renwei and Wei Taining, it would an trouble for him.
However, what they didn’t see was that the entire scene had been witnessed by Wei Chuyang, who was hidden in the distance.

Long Yifei was forcefully dragged out of his small house, surrounded by mbers of the thirteen external families who were loudly denouncing him.
