When several suspicious individuals quickly entered within ten ters of the off-road vehicle,

Song Heping actually breathed a sigh of relief at that point.

These people were definitely not coming for him!

Because this distance was already enough for them to shoot.

The fact that they didn't shoot ant that he wasn't their target.

Song Heping secretly breathed a sigh of relief but then another question arose.

If they weren't coming for him, then who were they targeting?

The suspicious individuals had already passed the off-road vehicle and were walking towards the back of the traffic flow.

Song Heping glanced at the rearview mirror; there seed to be no military vehicles.

"They're not coming for us."

Song Heping made his judgent.

Samir wiped the sweat from his forehead, his face showing a sense of relief from a narrow escape.

Suddenly, he said, "Could they be planning a terrorist attack?"

A single phrase woke the drear.

Song Heping took another look in the rearview mirror.

The n were still walking in the opposite direction along the traffic flow.

Samir said, "Boss, I want to get out of the car and take them down."

Song Heping was initially startled.

But then he understood.

Samir was the kind of person who did not want to see his fellow citizens die innocently.

"Alright, consider this my good deed for today."

Song Heping looked around again.

After making sure those n had no accomplices, he said to Samir, "Let's get out separately, stick close to the traffic and approach them, cover yourself and don't let them spot you. Once you're close, keep an eye on them, and if they make any move, shoot before they do."

"Yes, boss."

Samir's voice trembled a bit.

Song Heping reassured him, "Don't be afraid, there are only two n on your side, just two, easy to handle with a burst of gunfire, as long as they don't see you first, it's not hard to gain the upper hand."

After speaking, he gave a signal and got out of the car.

Once out of the car, Song Heping moved closer to several robed individuals while sticking close to the traffic.

He used the vehicles to block his figure, trying not to let the opponents see the MK18 assault rifle in his hands.

Samir was smart as well.

After all, he was a trained military man, having served a stint in the ISF Special Forces, and was not rely a newbie.

Therefore, he mimicked Song Heping's movents, sticking close to the traffic flow.

The two of them silently caught up with several masked n.

On the road, the people in their vehicles all saw Song Heping and Samir, the two rcenaries holding assault rifles.

But nobody knew what was happening.

No one wanted to poke their nose into it.

Many panicked and rolled up their windows.

Others simply ignored it, as if they hadn't seen it.

Having grown accustod to daily gun battles since the war began, many had beco numb to blood and gunfire.

After walking about twenty ters, the masked n suddenly stopped.

One of them gave a signal to his accomplice across the street.

Almost simultaneously, people on both sides of the street lifted their robes, revealing AK assault rifles underneath, and suddenly pointed their guns towards a black sedan in the traffic.

Just as they raised their guns, Song Heping was quicker; he raised his MK18 assault rifle, aid roughly, and pulled the trigger—it all happened in one fluid motion.

The MK18 assault rifle fitted with a silencer emitted a very faint shooting noise.

Tat-tat-tat—

Tat-tat-tat—

Tat-tat-tat—

In less than 3 seconds, Song Heping burst out three short bursts of fire.

The first burst hit the enemy closest to him on his left.

The remaining two quickly realized what was happening and turned to point their guns at Song Heping.

But their actions were just too slow for Song Heping.

Before they could fully turn around, Song Heping's second burst had already hit the second man.

This ti, the bullets hit the neck and slightly below at the throat.

The bullet easily penetrated the second man's neck, then hit the third man.

The third man fell to the ground before he even understood why he was hit.

Just as Song Heping was about to follow up with more shots using the vehicle as cover, he heard chaos in Samir's direction.

Rat-a-tat—

Rat-a-tat—

Rat-a-tat—

The gunfire was frantic and continuous, indicating that Samir failed to neutralize his targets quickly.

And the opposition had reacted and returned fire!

"Damn!"

Song Heping knew all too well that once a sneak attack was noticed, the ensuing scene would be akin to a fierce clash.

This was a major taboo in combat!

He couldn't care less about those who had fallen; instead, he turned towards Samir's position.

Indeed, Samir had managed to kill one, but another had reacted quickly, turning his gun on Samir, who was pinned down behind a truck.

Glancing at the black sedan, he saw several bullet holes in the windshield and blood spattered on it.

This ant that the enemy had successfully attacked the vehicle, executing at least one burst of fire.

Sneaking with his back hunched, sticking close to the traffic, Song Heping approached the enemy from behind and unleashed a short burst at his head.

Tat-tat—

The man's head burst open with a spray of bloody ss, and he slumped against the vehicle.

Song Heping shouted, "Samir, are you alright?!"

"Boss, I'm fine…"

Samir crawled out from the back of the truck, hastily reporting to Song Heping.

"Thank you, Boss."

"Your shooting is really terrible!"

Song Heping did not forget to scold him.

Then, he turned to the robed n who were already lying by the roadside and shot one of them who was still breathing twice.

Afterward, he returned to the black sedan and shouted at the people inside, "It's all clear! Let's go!"

After shouting twice, no one responded.

Song Heping waved his hand to Samir, "Let's go."

He did not want to stay here any longer.

He still had important matters to attend to back in Baghdad.

Seeing this, Samir also started heading to his SUV.

The traffic had already started easing, as many cars, seeing the gunfight, sped away, so even drove onto the sandy area beside the road.

The traffic that had been blocked suddenly beca smooth.

"Two of you… two of you…"

A fat man with gold-rimd glasses suddenly erged from the black sedan.

Song Heping reflexively aid his gun at the man.

The fat man was so frightened that he fell to the ground with a thud.

"I'm not an ard person, I'm from the Temporary Managent Committee's supply division, I'm a good person, I…I have identification…"

His chubby hand moved towards his pocket.

But he imdiately stopped.

"My identification is in my pocket, may I take it out?"

Song Heping nodded.

The man seed very cautious.

It was evident just from the way he handled the IDs.

This was sothing the Aricans had taught him.

Since the US Army had been stationed, this was the standard procedure when intercepted; almost all who dared to reach into their pockets without the US Army's permission ended up dead.

Those remaining were all well-behaved.

When the fat man finally took out his identification, Song Heping went over to take it, opened it, and looked.

The ID indeed had the Temporary Managent Committee's stamp and seal, but Song Heping could not understand Arabic.

He called Samir over for translation, "Samir! Co here and take a look."

When Samir ca over, he did not take the ID but shook his head and said, "Boss, he is from the supply division, no need to look, I know him."

The fat man seed to recognize Samir too, his eyes squinting into slits with a smile, "Samir, oh, dear Samir! My good brother! I didn't expect you to be my rescuer!"

Samir appeared unimpressed by the enthusiasm, speaking coldly, "I didn't rescue you, my boss did. Had I known it was you, I would have let them shoot you dead."

The fat man was not at all offended by these words but continued in his sycophantic tone, "Oh, my brother Samir, don't say that, this is Mandarin's arrangent…"

Then, he asked Song Heping, "Sir, may I stand up now?"

Song Heping could tell already that Samir and the fat man did indeed know each other, but Samir did not like this fat man.

Since that was the case, he no longer planned to waste ti.

"Let's go, Samir."

After speaking, he turned and walked toward the off-road vehicle.

Samir imdiately followed.

However, the fat man hurried after them.

Upon reaching Samir, he shalessly pleaded, "Good brother, you are headed back to Baghdad, right? Can you take along? I'm going to the Green Zone. Please take with you. My car broke down, and the driver is dead; don't leave here, it's not safe..."

As he spoke, he fearfully looked around as if he expected a gunman to jump out from a corner and shoot him at any mont.

Song Heping did not want to get involved in this matter.

It was clearly a personal grievance between Samir and the fat man.

"Yusuf, I've never seen soone as shaless as you."

Samir seed to have compromised.

"Boss, can we give him a ride?"

Song Heping gave this courtesy and favor to Samir, "You can totally decide for yourself, the steering wheel is in your hands."

The fat man, hearing this, was overjoyed, grasping Samir's arm with both hands, his face full of pleading, like a lost child.

"Get on."

Samir shook off his hand and walked to the off-road vehicle, pointing at the back seat, "You sit in the back!"

"Okay, okay, okay!"

The fat man opened the rear car door with the fastest speed, his bulky figure suddenly becoming incredibly agile, and he disappeared into the back seat of the off-road vehicle, then slamd the door shut, as if afraid Samir might change his mind the next second.

Samir apologized to Song Heping, "Boss, he works in the Green Zone and is also heading back there; he won't hinder our journey."

Before opening the car door, Song Heping curiously asked Samir, "Who is he to you? You seem quite familiar with each other."

With a look of disdain and helplessness, Samir said, "He's my cousin, works at the Temporary Managent Committee, beca a little official. This person..."

He shook his head, chuckling bitterly.

The vehicle hit the road once again.

After a while, the fat man Yusuf straightened up from the back seat, looked around outside through the car window, and once he felt completely safe, he finally breathed a sigh of relief, collapsing onto the seat.

"I was really scared just now, my driver died right in front of ... Lord..."

As he spoke, he looked down at the blood stains on his clothes, rubbing them desperately as if trying to scrub away the blood.

Samir couldn't help but mock him, "You must have done sothing despicable again, right? Did you rob soone's property again? Or did you line your own pockets?"

The fat man's face turned red.

At last, he stamred, "That's not the case..."

Seeing this, Samir couldn't help but start complaining to Song Heping about his cousin directly, "Boss, do you know what he does? A well-known official at the supplies departnt, hehe, do you know how he gets supplies in our poor country?"

Seeing Samir taking it this far, the fat man Yusuf quickly defended himself, "I rely classified and distributed the supplies allocated to the Temporary Managent Committee by the allied forces! Honestly, I'm just in charge of the warehouse!"

Samir sneered, "That includes helping Aricans loot supplies, right? Like, seeing a rich person's house and claiming it for yourself, using the na of the Aricans to requisition it, then leasing it to your Arican masters at a high price after acquiring it at a low price, making a profit from the difference, am I wrong? You're a lackey, yet you still try to glorify yourself..."

Yusuf's face reddened even more.

Perhaps feeling that Samir was publicly belittling him and tarnishing his reputation, he loudly defended himself: "I'm acting on orders! The attack happened because I recently discovered a huge arsenal belonging to the Suicide Squad, and they want dead! Samir, surely you don't want those arms to remain in the hands of those loyal to Sadam, do you?! Don't you also dislike Sadam?!

Do you think it's a good thing for people like us if the Suicide Squad has these weapons?!"

Yusuf was adamant, and after hearing this, Samir seed to think there was so reason to it, and so he fell silent.
