"Capture and sabotage?"
This ti it was Song Heping and the Hunter beside him who were slightly taken aback.
They knew the mission was not simple, but didn't expect it to be a double mission.
This type of mission is much more difficult than a single target mission!
Capture ans having to capture a high-value target alive; sabotage ans thoroughly destroying a critical node, possibly the command center, communications center, or even...
"That's right."
Petrovsky picked up a military tablet from nearby, unlocked it proficiently, retrieved a file from an encrypted folder, and handed it to Song Heping, "The target person is — Orwell."
Song Heping accepted the tablet with confusion, the screen's cold light reflecting on his face. A detailed personal profile ca into view:
Public na: Orwell Green
Known surface identity: "Syria Civil Defense Organization" (a.k.a "White Helts") Officer in Al-Hasakah Province
Internal code na (CIA): "Prophet"
Internal code na (Mossad): "Kafka"
Real na (highly confidential): Avi Steinberg**
Nationality/Ethnicity: Israeli (Arican cover)
...
Followed by a long list of detailed records about his activities, ability assessnts, and known associated networks.
"Double agent?"
Song Heping's eyebrows instantly knitted into a tangle.
Things seed to beco more interesting.
He was not unfamiliar with the "White Helts" organization.
The intelligence on the Siria Civil War provided by Henry repeatedly ntioned this so-called "non-governntal organization" active in the Siria Civil War.
It uses humanitarian aid as a cover, actually conducting reconnaissance on the Silia Governnt Army, Iranian-backed forces, and Russian Army deploynts; it's more adept at crafting and "filming" so-called "chemical weapon attack" evidence, providing a "justified" excuse for Western propaganda offensives and military intervention; anwhile, it also acts as a secret channel for pro-Arican factions within the Siria opposition to contact the outside world, a lot of funds and instructions circulate through this organization.
What made Song Heping's pupils constrict, was Orwell's glaring "double agent" identity.
CIA and Mossad?
The Russians actually know this so well?
Heh...
The intelligence circle is really damn bottomless; muddied beyond imagination.
"Indeed, Orwell is an extrely dangerous and cunning double, possibly even triple agent."
Petrovsky's voice was exceptionally serious.
"He is currently ostensibly organizing humanitarian aid in Silia, secretly providing funds and weapons for various opposition ard forces, especially HTS and parts of the 'Freedom Army'. Recently, in international public opinion, accusations about the Silia governnt using chemical weapons have been rampant. After our many investigations, we have not found any conclusive chemical weapon residue evidence at the alleged sites."
He paused, his tone becoming colder: "But we received top-secret intelligence from high-level, cross-verified sources that Mossad secretly provided Orwell with authentic chemical weapon materials and products, currently transported to an extrely concealed warehouse in Al-Hasakah Province. Their plan is to conduct a 'real' chemical weapon attack and then fra the Hafez regi!"
After listening to Petrovsky's account, Song Heping internally harbored no doubts.
He had dealt with Mossad more than once and knew well the agency's style of conduct.
To achieve strategic goals, framing and victimizing civilians is practically their daily routine, with no ntal burden whatsoever.
Just like when they once erased that peaceful small fishing village, Nura's hotown, from the map without hesitation to silence witnesses.
If Orwell's batch of chemical weapons is indeed used and found by the "White Helts" or Western dia at the "just right" mont, the Hafez regi will be unable to defend itself, plunging into a moral abyss of irreparability in the international community.
By then, even Russia, which has already decided to intervene militarily in the Siria situation, will face enormous public pressure, its hands and feet bound, possibly forced to retreat.
Only now did Song Heping fully understand why the high-ranking minister at Zhaoyi Valley agreed so readily to his nearly "excessive" terms, promising to open a clear and unobstructed arms smuggling route from Central Asia to the Middle East for him.
The cost behind this originally lay here.
The success or failure of this mission involves too many interests.
"Okay, since you have leveled with , then..."
Song Heping returned the tablet to Petrovsky, his gaze calm and resolute.
"I will do my utmost to help you complete this mission."
His tone was very calm, yet it carried an undeniable weight.
Imdiately, he slightly raised his finger and pointed straight at Petrovsky.
"However, Major, I must be blunt. After we enter the Gunei Mountain Area, all actions must follow my command. Do not question, do not hesitate. My orders are the highest priority. Otherwise, any misstep will benefit no one present."
"What gives you the right to command us? Who do you think you are?!"
The electronic warfare expert "Signal" Lebedev, sitting in the sa vehicle, finally couldn't hold back and burst out.
In his view, Major Petrovsky was the one appointed through strict procedures as the commander and the soul of this SSO squad.
A rcenary leader from the East, with such a complicated identity, dared to so blatantly demand command authority?
This is utterly ridiculous!
"Signal!"
Petrovsky jerked his head around and sternly stopped his subordinate's discontent.
His mind was exceptionally clear at that mont.
After the recent in-depth tactical deduction and intelligence exchange, he more than anyone else realized that in the complex situation ahead, Song Heping was the key.
Who holds the command is not important; what matters is who can lead everyone to survive and complete the mission.
"Attention all!"
Without hesitation, Petrovsky grabbed the radio transceiver, connected to the squad's encrypted channel, and issued the order.
"Starting now, until the next phase of the mission is clear, the squad's tactical command is temporarily handed over to Mr. Song Heping! His orders are my orders, and everyone must obey unconditionally! Is that clear? Give a definite reply!"
On the other end of the radio, there was a short silence.
The SSO team mbers in the other two vehicles could hardly believe their ears, exchanging bewildered looks, utterly confused.
Letting an outsider command these elite among elites?
Petrovsky obviously anticipated such a reaction. He repeated it with an intensified tone, almost shouting: "I'll say it again! From now on, the squad's tactical command is under Song's responsibility! His orders are my orders! Are you deaf? Anyone who's not dumb, reply!"
"...Received."
"Received..."
"...Understood."
Finally, the channel gradually filled with responses from the mbers, puzzled but maintaining discipline.
Song Heping didn't mind; what he needed was smooth command.
He nodded in satisfaction without saying more, directly took out the specially encrypted satellite phone, and skillfully dialed a number.
"Old squad leader, where are you right now?"
After a few busy tones, the call connected, and a slightly worried voice ca from Jiang Feng on the other end.
Song Heping didn't engage in small talk, directly giving instructions at the fastest speed: "Jiang Feng, I don't have ti to explain anything to you. You and Naxin imdiately lead the 'Sand Fox' squad, fully ard, and secretly cross the Silia border at top speed, entering the designated coordinate area in Hasakah Province to stand by and assist. Rember to prepare three extra vehicles; I have 'passengers' here. I will send you the coordinates later. I don't care how you do it—penetration, disguise, or even forceful breakthrough if necessary. The one result I want is to reach the designated location and lie in wait for my next command!"
Jiang Feng on the other end clearly realized the urgency and high risk of the mission, responding gravely: "Understood, leave it to . We'll set off as soon as we receive the coordinates. By what ti do we need to arrive?"
"By nightfall today." Song Heping's answer was without the slightest hesitation.
"By nightfall?!"
Jiang Feng's tone revealed obvious pressure.
This ant setting off imdiately and crossing the border in daylight.
And crossing the chaotic border region between Silia and Illiguo during the day, controlled by various forces, especially the "1515" ard group, dramatically increased the risk factor.
If the trajectory is exposed, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Yes, it's challenging, but I don't care what thod you use." Song Heping's tone was undeniable.
"You're not a rookie in the army; you don't need to teach you how to do things. I only want one result—by nightfall today, arrive at the coordinates I gave you, lie low, and wait for my command. That's all."
"Okay, I'll be there on ti!" Jiang Feng also gave the final reply.
Ending the call, Song Heping quickly extracted the precise coordinates of Kubai Town and sent them through the encrypted data link.
After all this, he turned his gaze back out the window at the swiftly moving, increasingly rugged and desolate horizon, then said to Petrovsky: "Major, I've made all the arrangents I can. As for whether this chess ga can ultimately be won, from here on, it's up to our luck, and whether we can get out of here alive will depend on how much we can muddy this pool."
