Gunei Mountain Area, Eastern Edge.
Two "Typhoon" K-63969 anti-ambush vehicles lay quietly immobilized at the entrance of a dirt ditch.
A group of 1515 Ard militants, dressed in mixed camouflage uniforms with black headscarves, were cautiously approaching the two anti-mine ambush vehicles from three directions in a loose skirmish line formation.
Their AK-47, AKM, and a few AK-74 rifles were pointed vigilantly at the vehicles, fingers resting lightly on the triggers.
The leader, wielding a well-maintained AK-74, shouted loudly in Arabic with a heavy Northern Caucasus accent, trying to dispel his subordinates' unease with his voice, while urging them to inspect the vehicles.
"Quick! Warriors of Allah, what are you afraid of! Look at the good stuff these heretics have left behind! There must be usable weapons inside, precious ammunition, and those expensive communication devices! Bring them all out! Whoever finds them first gets a priority share!"
The small leader grinned, revealing a mouthful of nicotine-stained yellow teeth, as if imagining the rewards he would receive for presenting the seized advanced equipnt to higher-ups.
Several younger militants, motivated by his words, exchanged glances, suppressed their unease, quickened their steps, almost in a robbery-like hurry, rushing towards the nearest "Typhoon" anti-ambush vehicle.
Rat-a-tat-tat—
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat—
A few fired frantically at the vehicle from about a dozen ters away.
No response.
The rifle bullets were like a tickle.
No damage to such armored vehicles.
The vehicle doors were tightly shut, not opening.
No one disembarked.
No resistance encountered.
The small leader realized it seed like two empty vehicles.
Perhaps there were abandoned equipnt or ammunition on board.
That was a bounty too...
"Go! There's no one here, they seem to have abandoned the vehicles and fled!"
Encouraged by the small leader, several militants instantly gained the courage, holding their guns, surrounded the vehicles from different directions.
"Seems like there's no one..."
"Empty vehicles..."
After checking, they confird the small leader's judgnt.
Excitedly, they sward forward, violently smashing with gun butts, kicking, and pulling at the deford and jamd armored vehicle doors. The screech of tal scraping sounded particularly sharp in the open valley.
"The front door is open!"
Suddenly, a militant in the front position yelled to his comrades, who had foolishly wasted effort around the rear door, as if discovering a new continent.
He imdiately pulled open the already ajar side door of the driver's cabin and eagerly squeezed inside like a groundhog.
The cabin was pitch dark, filled with the sll of blood and scorching charring.
The militant's hands groped randomly under the seats and dashboard for potentially valuable items, when his boot inadvertently caught a very thin plastic-coated tal wire.
"Click."
A chanical discharge sound so faint it was almost completely drowned out by the wind and his companions' shouting.
"Hmm?"
The militant seed to sense he had touched sothing unusual, looking down towards where the sound ca from, wanting to see what it was.
The next second—
"Boom!!!"
A violent explosion suddenly erupted from the middle underbelly of the first "Typhoon" vehicle!
The pre-set explosive device was triggered, blazing flas opened wide like the mouth of Hell, the orange-red explosion wave and visible shock wave ripples instantly expanded, swallowing the few militants nearby.
Their bodies were torn apart like puppets by an invisible giant hand, with limbs and pieces of organs mixed with vehicle tal fragnts flung high, tracing grievous arcs, then crashed down like bloody raindrops on the dry ground.
The strong overpressure blast wave, like a sledgehamr, also flung those slightly farther away who had not yet reacted to the ground, bleeding from ears and noses.
But it wasn't over!
Almost in the sa microsecond as the first explosion, the other seemingly intact "Typhoon" vehicle also suffered a disastrous sympathetic detonation!
Chain trap mines pre-set at the fuel tank connection and near the simulated ammunition storage point inside the vehicle were triggered by shock waves or electrical short circuits, a larger fireball enveloped in thick black smoke rose into the air, blowing the entire vehicle apart. Doors and armor plates were torn and flung like paper.
Burning diesel and tal fragnts, like countless deadly scorching locusts, whistled, spraying madly in a fan shape around!
"Ah—! My leg!"
"My eyes! I can't see!"
"Allah is the greatest! Help ! Help..."
Terrible screams and desperate prayers imdiately replaced the previous greedy shouts, and the once orderly crowd plunged into a hysterical chaos.
At least a dozen militants were either dead or wounded in the chain explosions just now, the survivors lay terrified on the ground or scattered like headless flies.
The air quickly filled with nauseating blood stench, and the unique foul odor produced by the burning of skin, flesh, and fabric.
In the distance, about 150 ters away on a relatively high stone slope, Abu Omar witnessed the bloody scene.
The explosion just now gave him a jolt, and he fell to the ground.
When he confird it was safe and got up again, before him lay a hellish scene.
"Fools! A bunch of brainless fools! Can't even see such an obvious death trap set by the heretics?! Have your eyes been blinded by the desert sand?!"
