"After that place up ahead, then head west, about ten kiloters, and we can reach Awaz. Once we're in Awaz, my brothers will be there waiting for us. They will arrange everything, making sure we get away!"

Song Heping had just finished speaking when Rabbani imdiately lay flat on the ground.

"I… I really… can't run anymore…"

"Lao Mi," Song Heping said, "shoot him. It looks like he's suffering quite a bit. Don't let him endure this pain."

Mist was drenched in sweat, with droplets rolling down his face and soaking his entire front and back.

But thankfully, he was still holding up.

It's just that the thought of having to run another ten kiloters made his calves start to cramp.

"FUCK! Why haven't you done it?"

He cursed, "You want to play the good guy?"

Those who were on the verge of collapsing didn't have a good temper.

He had never seen soone who could run like Song Heping.

In the past, he had heard about that clash on the Peninsula where soldiers from the Chinese military could run over a hundred li in one day and night with just their legs and still keep up with their forefathers.

He didn't believe it when he first heard it.

Was that not nonsense?

Just by using their legs?

Even his elite Seal Team mbers couldn't do that, but they could?

But this ti, he truly witnessed it.

Even seeing one Song Heping was enough.

Now he believed it.

He completely believed it.

Song Heping didn't argue with him and simply said indifferently, "Alright, if you don't take him out, he'll end up in the hands of the Revolutionary Brigade, and he'll give up our escape route because he knows it—"

Saying this, he pointed to Rabbani lying on the ground with a look of utter despair.

"And then what? The Revolutionary Brigade will chase us down. As for , well, I can run quite fast, so when the ti cos, you can't bla for not looking out for you. I'll run for it on my own; whoever runs slow will be the unlucky one."

Mist thought over what Song Heping said and felt there wasn't a single flaw in his words.

When Song Heping had explained the breakout plan earlier, Rabbani was right there, listening.

Indeed, if Rabbani fell into the hands of the Revolutionary Brigade, they would certainly send a large force to pursue and block them.

If Song Heping really left him behind then…

Forget not possessing Song Heping's near-miraculous ability to rember maps, just escaping skills alone weren't as good as his, let alone endurance. By then, he would truly beco a target.

"FUCK! Song, you are really an asshole!"

After spitting out a curse, Mist swiftly drew his pistol, racked the slide with a swift movent, and pressed it directly against Rabbani's head.

Rabbani got a fright, jumping up from the ground.

"I can try… try…"

Song Heping spread his hands and said with a smile, "See, nothing works like a gun."

"What do we do now?"

Mist holstered his pistol and asked Song Heping.

"Do you see that slope over there?" Song Heping said, "About a hundred ters past the right foothills is the only and easiest path leading out of the highland mountain area. It will be relatively flat after that. If we go anywhere else, we'll need to cross many mountains that are impossible to climb. They will definitely be guarding here. I don't know if there's anyone there now, if there's nobody, we're safe; but if there is soone…"

Song Heping gestured a throat-slitting motion.

"Alright, let's hurry!"

Mist didn't want to stay here for another second.

All he wanted now was to get out of this place. He'd rather run into Persian territory than fall into the hands of the Revolutionary Brigade.

The group moved along the foothills, taking advantage of the cover of darkness to approach the escape route's entrance.

"No one?"

When they reached the edge of the mountains, Mist peeked around and his mood instantly brightened.

"Move out, quick!"

They all started to run.

Just as they had run a few dozen ters, suddenly figures appeared on a small south-to-north path to their left.

"People!"

Mist, who was at the front, gave the alarm.

They instantly dispersed.

As they did so, Song Heping got a clear view of the newcors.

People from the Revolutionary Brigade!

"Weren't they led away by us? How could they appear here?"

As Mist loudly complained, he opened fire.

The two groups were less than a hundred ters apart, and by now the sky had lightened enough to improve visibility significantly.

The search team from the Revolutionary Brigade had also just arrived.

They had previously been guarding this place, but later received orders to move towards Salbic, allegedly because the enemy had been spotted there. They were told to search southward to cooperate with the main force and encircle the enemy.

But just after searching a dozen kiloters, suddenly they received orders from Kawasi to return here as fast as possible and guard this only route to Awaz at all costs.

They turned back, full of complaints, and began running towards their original position. To their surprise, they actually encountered the enemy just as they arrived.

Pop pop pop—

Pop pop pop—

Rat-a-tat—

Rat-a-tat-tat-tat—

The two sides began exchanging gunfire.

Caught off guard, the Revolutionary Brigade's soldiers, though numbering in the teens, responded a bit haphazardly.

In their panic, their bullets lacked precision, hitting the slope behind Song Heping and his companions.

Song Heping and Mist, on the other hand, were moving and firing with lethal accuracy.

Before long, three enemies had fallen on the opposite side.

Rabbani rolled behind a rock, not daring to raise his head. He simply raised his gun above the rock, aiming in the general direction, and started pulling the trigger fiercely.

Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat—

He didn't care about accuracy at all.

If he couldn't kill the enemy, at least he could temporarily intimidate them.

And his wild shooting wasn't entirely useless.

The remaining Revolutionary Brigade soldiers on the other side were so panicked that dirt and stones sprayed around them from bullets hitting nearby, a truly terrifying situation.

"Split up! Split up!"

The leader of the search team realized that sticking together made them a target. The enemy's marksmanship was too good, easily taking down multiple targets with one shot.

After all, they were veterans who had fought the Persian Army in that region for many years. These Revolutionary Brigade soldiers had no lack of experience, much richer than that of low-level commanders like Rabbani from Afghan.

The dozen or so soldiers scattered in an instant, each finding rocks and the terrain to take cover.

By then, Song Heping had already figured out the enemy's tactics.

"Do you see their radio operator?!"

Song Heping asked Mist loudly from behind a rock.

"I didn't get a clear look, it was too rushed!"

Mist certainly knew what Song Heping intended to do.

We must first take out the enemy's communication soldier.

Because he will transmit the information about the firefight here.

Once it's out, who knows how many people from the Revolutionary Brigade will co rushing here like madn.

After all, the Awaz Region is just another ten kiloters down this road.

Near the Awaz Region is the junction of the Persian Army and the Revolutionary Brigade, and it's very likely to encounter Persian patrol teams there.

"Aren't you a Seal? Is this how you Seals do things?!"

At this ti, Song Heping still didn't forget to ridicule Lao Mi.

Mist retorted angrily, "Didn't you fail to see clearly either?!"

Song Heping laughed, "I'm a pig farr, you want to compare with ?!"

Mist: "..."

Song Heping no longer had the ti to banter with him and yelled, "Cover !"

Although the two liked to belittle each other, it didn't affect their cooperation. Without saying another word, Mist raised his gun and fired continuously to suppress the enemy.

Taking advantage of the mont, Song Heping leaped up and dashed lightning-fast to the other side.

On the small path where the Revolutionary Brigade soldiers were, with slopes on either side that limited their field of vision, Song Heping had disappeared from their sight in the blink of an eye.

They tried to rush out to stop Song Heping, but were forced back by Mist's suppressive fire.

Soon, Mist emptied his magazine.

Seeing this, the leader of the Revolutionary Brigade imdiately shouted, "Break out! Don't get trapped here! They are encircling our flanks!"

The junior leader wasn't stupid.

Of course, he knew what would happen if they were encircled in such a narrow passageway.

The slopes on both sides weren't high, only about ten ters, but the side near them was steep and impossible to climb.

The only option was to break out and then send people up the slopes to take care of the enemy trying to encircle them.

Although Mist couldn't understand what the junior leader of the enemy was saying, he could guess what it was from the tone of his voice.

While replacing his magazine, he yelled at Rabbani who was hiding behind a rock a few ters away, "Suppress them! Fire!"

Rabbani had always been a coward.

He hid behind the rock, too scared to show his head.

Mist wanted to kill him.

If it weren't for Song Heping keeping him around, he would have definitely finished him off.

Rabbani was startled by Mist's roar, raised his gun, and let out a burst of "faith shooting."

Unexpectedly, this burst of faith shooting played a key role.

The few Revolutionary Brigade soldiers who had just rushed to the mouth of the path were hit, and two fell.

This burst of faith shooting was ant to be a wild guess.

But even a blind guess can sotis hit the target.

The two sides were less than a hundred ters apart, a distance neither far nor near.

Hitting soone entirely depended on Rabbani's dumb luck.

"I hit them! I hit two!"

Rabbani peeked out from behind the rock and imdiately started yelling excitedly.

"You really disgrace your Revolutionary Brigade!" Mist couldn't help but sneer, "How did you even beco a junior leader?!"

Before he finished speaking, he suddenly yelled at the top of his voice, "Watch out!"

Rabbani hadn't had ti to react when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his buttocks, and he imdiately started howling.

"Ah—I've been shot!"

He had peeked out with his body turned to the side, neglecting his backside. The rock wasn't big; as he leaned out, his backside stuck out on the other side and caught a bullet.

"If you die soday, you'd surely die of stupidity!"

As Mist spoke, he kept changing positions, alternating shoulders to lay down suppressive fire on the Revolutionary Brigade soldiers.

Though he was firing in bursts, his aim was extrely accurate, pinning more than a dozen people on the opposite side to the narrow path, unable to co out.

By now, Song Heping had climbed up the slope.

He listened to the gunfire below for a mont, quickly judged the approximate position, pulled out a hand grenade, yanked off the pin, threw it down, then pulled another one, threw it down...

He threw three in a row and heard screams from below.

"Hand Grenade!"

"Run!"

"Retreat!"

Screams were in chaos.

Boom—

Boom—

Boom—

Taking advantage of the dust kicked up by the explosions, Song Heping found a spot to peek out, then quickly retracted his head.

With just one glance, he had already seen the situation below.

The Revolutionary Brigade's search squad was already in disarray, scattering in all directions like a disturbed hornet's nest.

Others were lying down, wailing on the ground.

Song Heping spotted the guy carrying the radio and fired a burst at his back, hitting the radio and causing the man to stumble.

Song Heping didn't linger in combat and retracted to continue throwing hand grenades.

Not until he had completely run out of hand grenades did he move to a new spot to peek and observe.

On this look, his heart settled.

All around the small path at the bottom of the slope lay Revolutionary Brigade soldiers, all injured.

Song Heping quickly fired, ending their lives one by one.

Mist on the other side tid his action well, launching an attack and quickly running to the other side of the slope below, continuing to throw hand grenades inside.

"Stop throwing! They are all dead!"

Song Heping stopped Mist.

"Don't waste the hand grenades, save so!"

"There's more on the bodies, we can restock!" Mist hollered from the slope.

Song Heping ran down the slope, and the two provided cover for each other as they moved into the path.

Seeing any that were still breathing, they didn't hesitate and shot them directly.

Approaching the communications soldier, Song Heping looked at the man who had already died, eyes rolled back, and frowned.

"We need to move fast and retreat, not sure if he sent out the distress signal."

"Okay!"

After Mist spoke, sothing suddenly occurred to him.

"That kid Rabbani seems to be injured."

"What?!"

Song Heping paused for a second.

Injured?

That wasn't a good sign.
