When Song Heping pulled Mario out of the seawater for the third ti, the latter had completely broken down.

He began to sob and wail.

"I really... really... really don't know... ugh—"

He pleaded for rcy while spitting out water.

The feeling of drowning is actually quite uncomfortable.

The waterboarding favored by the CIA essentially simulates the feeling of despair one experiences repeatedly entering a state of drowning.

Song Heping's interrogation thods were similar in creativity.

In fact, among all interrogation techniques, drugs are the most lethal.

They are uncontrollable, and unless one is not human, nobody is exempt from the influence of drugs.

The problem is that drug interrogations are not without drawbacks.

Every drug interrogation carries a risk, and it is very easy for the captive to die before any intelligence is extracted.

Furthermore, since drug interrogations are perford when the subject's mind is clouded, the interrogated often spout nonsense, and out of a thousand words, perhaps only a handful might be useful.

It's also possible that the entire thing is rubbish.

That's why drug interrogations are generally not used until the very end.

Beyond that, the simplest and most brutal thod is physical torture, relying on pain to cause the subject to break down.

Water torture is clearly a more genteel but effective thod.

After hearing Omar's words, Song Heping threw him back into the water.

This ti, it was Jimmy's turn.

Jimmy played a cunning trick.

"I am an agent of the CIA."

He imdiately shifted the bla to the CIA.

This move was very sly.

But it happened to be useless against Song Heping.

Furthermore, it was bad luck for him.

First of all, before Song Heping transported the batch of SA-9 missiles, he had already been troubled by Simon of the CIA at the Illigo Station.

It was Major General Peter of the military who vouched for him and had the CIA release him so the operation could proceed.

Therefore, the CIA was aware that this arms deal was actually a military intelligence operation in the planning.

If Simon wanted to kill him, he certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to do it personally, let alone use CIA agents again.

And yet, Jimmy was telling him that he was a CIA agent?

Wasn't that just walking into the line of fire?

"You're not being honest."

Having said that, Song Heping let go.

Jimmy didn't have ti to scream before he fell back into the water.

Song Heping pulled Mario up again, waited for him to spit out the seawater completely, and catch his breath a bit before repeating the sa question, "Who sent you?"

"I really don't know!"

This ti, Mario scread at Song Heping with all his might.

But a second later, his courage and bravado evaporated, and he returned to his tearful face, begging for rcy, "Don't throw into the sea first, I'm just a lackey in the team, I'm not the boss, the boss took on this deal."

"Who is your boss?" asked Song Heping.

"Dead!" Mario said, "You beat him to death in the hotel."

Song Heping asked again, "So you an to say, after soaking four tis, you still insist so stubbornly, I believe what you're saying is true."

"Thank you so much!" Mario was almost moved to tears.

But Song Heping shook his head slightly, "However, this ans you're of no value to , aren't you? I have no need to keep sothing that has no value."

After saying that, he let go.

"FUCK!"

Mario scread as he fell into the sea.

Song Heping squatted by the rocks, watching the two of them flounder in the water.

He checked his watch and felt it was about ti.

Song Heping pulled up Jimmy.

This ti, Jimmy was more disheveled than ever before and took a long ti to recover his strength.

"Thought it through? I'm going to let go," said Song Heping, repeating the sa question, "Who are you? Which organization do you belong to?"

Jimmy finally conceded, deciding to sell out so real information to get a chance to rest because if he got thrown back now, he hadn't recovered enough, "We're from the DGSE!"

Song Heping was slightly taken aback, then furrowed his brow, "The French?"

Jimmy nodded vigorously.

"Why do you want to kill ?"

That question was rhetorical.

But, it was also one Song Heping had to ask.

It all depended on how Jimmy responded.

His answer would surely contain clues.

Jimmy said nothing.

Song Heping let go.

Jimmy fell into the sea again.

He then pulled Mario up again.

Mario was starting to roll his eyes.

Song Heping pressed his foot against the rope, letting him hang in the water as long as his head could stay above for breathing.

He was in no hurry.

After waiting a while and seeing that Mario had regained so sense of rationality, he continued with the previous question, "Who hired you?"

This ti Mario was honest.

"DGSE..."

He confessed.

This answer matched Jimmy's response.

It appeared the French were behind it.

Song Heping continued, "How do you communicate with each other?"

Mario grimaced and said, "Brother, you're driving to a dead end..."

Song Heping said, "If you don't talk, you die now. If you do, I'll definitely spare your life. Whether or not you can escape DGSE's manhunt afterwards is up to your own skills. Make your choice."

After a mont of thought, Mario said, "I really can't contact DGSE people directly, but the boss can, he has a cell phone."

"I've looked at your boss's cell phone; there's no record of numbers," said Song Heping.

"It's a hidden system..." Mario said. "The phone belongs to DGSE. It has a hidden system. If you press *$4, a hidden interface will pop up..."

Song Heping nodded, "Hmm, at least you're being honest. Let's leave it at that for now. I have to interrogate soone else first; we can talk again after I'm done."

Mario really was just a small fry.

Killing him would serve no purpose other than staining his own hands with more blood.

Moreover, to silence him, DGSE certainly wouldn't let him off the hook either.

Let DGSE settle the score with him; there was no need for him to get involved.

At this mont, he saw that Jimmy was soaked enough, so he pulled him up again.

"Have you thought it through?" Song Heping said. "My patience is limited, I'm quite busy. This is your last chance. If you don't give the answer I want, I'll let you turn into a corpse right here."

Jimmy's head seed to be filled with water, feeling as if all his orifices were leaking.

The well-prepared counter-interrogation steps he had intended to use had seemingly been washed away with the sea water that infiltrated his body.

Now Jimmy had completely lost the will to resist.

"Why do you want to kill ?" asked Song Heping, sticking to the original question.

This ti, Jimmy wised up and honestly replied, "We received intelligence that you were smuggling three sets of SA-9 missiles to the Sahel Zone to be handed over to a local ard organization."

"To which ard organization?" Song Heping asked. "Did your intelligence specify?"

"No..."

"Who provided you with the intelligence?"

...

Splash—

Jimmy rely hesitated for a few seconds before he was dropped into the sea again.

When pulled up again, Jimmy was almost out of breath.

Mario, who was beside him, watched with a pounding heart, glad that he had been honest.

"Who provided you with the intelligence?"

"We don't know who it is, but the channel is very reliable..."

Before Jimmy could finish, Song Heping was ready to release the rope again.

Jimmy panicked, "But I know the source of the channel. It cos from an intelligence broker involved in manufacturer deals in North Africa, a long-term intelligence supplier of ours. We trust him completely since none of our multiple transactions have ever gone wrong."

"What's the broker's na?" asked Song Heping.

...

Splash—

It was hard to count how many tis it had happened, but Jimmy was pulled up once more.

His lungs hurt fiercely, and he felt as if his soul was being waterlogged. In his daze, he felt soone pounding on his chest.

After a while, Jimmy finally ca to his senses.

Opening his eyes, he saw Song Heping.

"Please, just kill ..." he begged.

Jimmy would rather die at this point.

The repeated drowning was too horrific, too unbearable...

"No, how could I bear to let you die? When you're dying, I'll definitely save you. I'll keep drowning you over and over until dawn. Then I'll carry you to the car, and at night, I'll bring you back here to repeat the sa thing all over again. Don't worry, I'll feed you so that you won't starve. And don't even think about starving yourself to death; while you could die from that, I'll get you saline and nutrient solutions from the hospital to keep you alive. This way, you can endure this torturous drowning for at least a month. I know it's painful; you should be very clear about waterboarding. Not many can withstand such tornt for three continuous days, let alone a month…"

"You… you monster…"

A chill rose from the depths of Jimmy's soul.

He had overestimated his tolerance and underestimated Song Heping's tactics.

A month…

That was an entire month…

It was possible that this guy could actually do it.

Considering his behavior at the Jade Hotel, where six top assassins fell into his hands in one night…

He might as well be so special operative.

Certainly not soone from a PMC company…

"What will it be?"

Song Heping said, gesturing to Mario lying on the rocks nearby.

"Do you want to go back into the water, or do you want to end up like him?"

Jimmy started to sob.

It was the sob of utter despair and helplessness.

The sob of the weak in the face of the powerful.

"He only has a codena; I really don't know his actual na and identity. I'm not the agent who communicates with him…"

"What's the codena."

"JK."

"Alright, I believe you."

Having said that, Song Heping was convinced that the information provided by Jimmy was genuine.

"I'll let you go, but not just yet. However, once I do, go back and tell your superiors that I'm not your enemy. Don't provoke , understand?"

Jimmy nodded vigorously.

Even if Song Heping granted him a rciful bullet, as long as he stopped the torture, he would take it. Let alone the assurance of sparing his life.

Now, seeing Song Heping made Jimmy sowhat afraid.

He was supposed to feel hatred, to want to dismber Song Heping.

But for so reason...

All he felt was fear.

Even the re sight of this Demon King made him tremble inside.

Too damn terrifying...

This madman!

After this night, Jimmy was ntally scarred.

Once back, he decided to undergo psychological therapy, and then request a transfer back ho, never to stay in this hellish part of North Africa again.
